I mean so many times I see, whether it be people I know, or on tv; having a little alcohol in your system makes it okay for you to do some stupid things....not to say at all Fi's speech was stupid..I think you all know my stance by now......but I guess in a way it does perpetuate this societal norm because it was written and what-not, that Fi had something to drink, and I think it should be addressed, because whether we like it or not, every kid out there, or least most kids, really base what they learn on tv or what they see out of other people...I mean what else is there to base it on...well beside family life....and it's not that great for everyone....I mean I've spent a lot of time watching tv, it has become a part of me, so obviously many values I have, or instictive ideas and ways to go about my life come from things I've seen or read about on tv or others....though now I can come to terms with this and really decide for myself what is the way to go and which is not...but it still influences me, and definitely influences everyone else....maybe I'm going to far with this, and I'm not saying to cancel tv or anything....because I still watch it....but things of that nature need to be said, and dealt with, or else kids are going to be continually screwed up in that way..... ....this is pretty interesting, we're talking about societal values on a Fiona list.....has this been burned on the others lists at all?? just curious...... so anyone have any favorites for the mtv awards? or predictions rather...I don't know why I'm going to watch it....but I know I will.....(well, beside to see if Fi wins...) anyway, that's it out of me for now, LaTeR aPpLeHeAdS, Raffi "This uncertainty is taking me over..." --Portishead ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 31 Aug 1998 21:51:43 EDT From: Sissyneck3@aol.com Subject: Re: apple-tree-digest V1 #36 In a message dated 98-08-31 15:16:12 EDT, you write: << so anyone have any favorites for the mtv awards? or predictions rather...I don't know why I'm going to watch it....but I know I will.....(well, beside to see if Fi wins...) anyway, that's it out of me for now, LaTeR aPpLeHeAdS, Raffi "This uncertainty is taking me over..." --Portishead >> I don't really have any favorites for the MTV awards, except for Fi of course. None of the other people or groups nominated really do anything for me....I know that I'll watch because of Ben Stiller, love him. Have any of you seen the commericals with Ben Stiller and the Wu Tang Clan? They are too funny. Amber ------------------------------ End of apple-tree-digest V1 #39 *******************************
