It's been a while! While I must admit, my sister pointed out to me that I've "gone country". But it wan't my fault, promise. I was/am a HUGE fan of Jennifer Nettles. In 2005 she signed up to be the lead singer in a country band called Sugarland. You probably have heard the name by now. Moving on... in the time frame of "not sure I like this, but I want to see Jennifer on TV... I was exposed to other wonderful "country" music musicians like Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, and of course Taylor Swift. The fact that these folks write & sing their own music is what I like. So weather it was the sound of Poe, or the sound of Taylor Swift... at the end of the day, it's an artist writing music, and expressing it their way by the performance. Not soon after I was opening up to the genre, artists like Jewel found herself on country radio. Nothing about her sound has changed, that's just the "format" where she fits currently. I remember watching MTV's "Alternative Nation" (hosted by Kennedy) and they played a Jewel video right after a Marilyn Manson video. Those days are long gone. It was nice to see Liz Phair early last year.. she hasn't really changed much & is still doing her thing. I also REALLY enjoyed Heather Nova's release last fall "300 Days At Sea". And there have been a few single releases from Imogen Heap this year (that will eventually become an album) but her style has also changed a bit since her 1st solo effort in 1998. (see, I haven't entirly left the alt/rock world for country.. lol!) Enjoy 2012 & hopefully the mistress of groove will show her face this year. - -rusty www.facebook.com/people/Rusty-Shelby/746404740 www.twitter.com/rustyshelby www.weand.co/rusty "we're on a world tour" :: ATLANTA :: 2012 :: 01.21.11 : Anjelah Johnson @ Buckhead Theatre 02.23.11 : Kelly Clarkson with Matt Nathanson @ Fox Theatre 06.22.12 : Lady Antebellum @ Gwinnett Arena 07.13.12: Miranda Lambert @ Lakewood Ampitheater ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V15 #19 ***********************************
