Check out "Blue" "Walking > With Strangers" "Nevermind" and "Lovers End" for a good sampling of > their music. I saw TBM in Utrecht over a year ago, at the Summer Darkness 2006 festival. The concert was great, but I the album was a bit disappointing in my opinion. The new album (Walking with Strangers) is rather nice though. It is a regular on my playlist atm. > Within Temptation - For as much as I once loved Evanescence, WT has > knocked Amy Lee from the fem-goth pedestal with their deeper, more > layered sound. "The Heart of Everything" IMHO is their best album to > date. Try "What Have You Done" and "Forgiven" Ah, the Dutch Goth "Rockers". Within Temptation is a bit too soft for me. Ik prefer After Forever, the older AF albums are a bit more doomy and grunty than Within Temptation. > Nightwish - I have to admit, I'd only heard a few of their songs with > Tarja Turunen (former lead vocaless) before picking up "Dark Passion > Play", but it was those few songs that got me started listening to > symphonic metal this year. I don't know about old Nightwish fans' > reactions to Anette Olzon, but I thoroughly enjoyed "DPP". Marco > Hietala sings more on this album, getting a few tracks where he leads. > I really liked "7 Days to the Wolves" "Bye Bye Beautiful" and "Eva". If you like Nightwish and Within Temptation, check out After Forever and Nemesea. For a bit more trip-goth, try The Gathering. Women who "rocked my socks" in 2007 were (and still are): Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering): had one or 2 hit singles 10+ years ago in the Netherlands, but still one of the best melodious metal bands around... though Anneke left the band a few weeks after I saw them :-( Check out: "Nighttime birds" and "Strange Machines" Emilie Autumn: She was performing at Summer Darkness 2007. Though I missed half of the show, the "Victorian Violin Rock" made a huge impression. Great show, great songs. Check out "Liar", "Shalott" and "Opheliac". Can't wait 'till it's April, and the Presidents of the USA and Emilie Autumn are playing in my town :-) Best whishes for the new year, Jorrit ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V12 #67 ***********************************
