This was their 10th anniversary show at this event, and the 20th performance as it is a two day event. The festival in it's 31st year features arts and crafts vendors on both sides of the street for about a mile, and draws about 1/4 million people over two days. I shot this video Aug 5th, it features about 12 band members and 3 belly dancers entering the crowd from a side street, and the party is on! You'll love it! ( cept for the beer splashed on the lens! ) Buddhahood Park Ave Fest Street Parade 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bge83lkfSYQ ===================================================================== I filmed the band again on August the 26th, a great day at Highland Bowl the place I call "Poe's Stage" And then the posting came on the bands MySpace page... "Sep 8, 2007 12:25 AM If what I just heard is true.... Rest In Peace, Tony" Now I wouldn't burden you with the death of a man from a band most of you have probably never heard of, if I didn't think it was important. I am certain that this list reaches many people with more than just a casual interest in music. Yes, Tony was a musician's musican, and he taught, but he taught much more than how to play an instrument. But I don't want you to take my word for it. I promise, if you follow the links I provide, for some of you, maybe many of you, it will be a life changing experience... The Buddhahood was on the rise.... But Tony's story has not ended, many of us are certain that it never will... I waited this long to make this posting for many reasons... much of it being the fact that I filmed 3 of the bands shows in 2007.... nothing fancy, it is home video... and it's difficult to get closure when you spend a lot of time putting it together on a DVD ... against a Nov 18th deadline .... Tony left behind a wife and 4 year old son... a benefit was held November 18th 2007, at the Water St. Music Hall ( last place I saw Poe... ) Below you will find a link to a YouTube video of The Buddhahood and Guests performing "Through the Veil" at the Water St. benefit show... The drummer and Tony played together for 20 years, 10 of that I have been told as a "death metal" band, the bass player was on board for 12 years... The man filling the big shoes left behind by Tony... His name is Nate Coffee... I've known Nate for more than a half dozen years and feel fortunate to have him as a friend, and I understand the choice to put Nate on the lead... Nate also teaches music, a cool cat, a man of peace The words are Tonys, the music is his, the band is his creation.... it was a very family experience... But as I said, I will provide the links, and I invite you to do yourself a favor in life, and check out this mans words, music, and his life.... I will post the lyrics to the song played at his funeral The Buddhahood Purify My mind I come from love I live with love I speak of love And I will leave with love Each day I try to learn Each day I understand more I have so much work to do To purify my mind Each day I think of people to thank Not of those who own me (Understand) we live now and learn from then I want to purify my mind One cant have a better past We can plan for the future (Each day) if we spread love We purify our minds Thank you brother, thank you sister Thank you mother, thank you teacher Thank you father, thank you neighbor Thank you child, thank you lover Thank you air, thank you fire Thank you earth, thank you water Thank you spirit, thank you mother Thank you father, thank you lover ============================================================ YouTube.Com The Buddhahood and Guests: - Through the Veil - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5qekUA8faY ============================================================ SendSpace.Com 79 MB high quality 720 x 480 .wmv format http://www.sendspace.com/file/4wsd2v ============================================================ http://myspace.com/thebuddhahood.com The band's myspace page features four songs, including the one qouted above. Jump back prior to Sep 8th and read about some of the good times, then have a look at the postings following Tonys death and you may begin to understand his enormous influence on the music community in our area... http://thebuddhahood.com The bands official web site features song lyrics and a few mp3 style downloads as well as bios, photos, etc... That's your intro... the story is not over... if you want to follow it, maybe be a part of it, or know the rest of the story as many others see it, follow the links....
