Quite often, when I think of Poe, I suck in a big gulp of air.... Just as you might if you had a friend sitting in prison for 10 years. I think of Poe as belonging to the Class of 95, along with Shirley Manson, http://www.garbage.com/home.php and Gwen Stefani, http://www.gwenstefani.com/main/ . I am especialy struck by this sense that Poe is doing time, when I see how well Gwen is doing. Oh yeah you can find the bright side to anything, but think about what it might be like if your ability to be creative was put on a 10 year lockdown, not to mention your ability to make a living. So much silence... Bet it's gonna be loud as hell when she busts loose :) I still have hopes that Poe will team up with WBER http://wber.monroe.edu and be the opening act for the annual Lilac Festival ( that's a free show ) or a pay show during the same festival at Highland Bowl. I know some of you who went to the 97 festival didn't enjoy the still melting snow, or the rowdy mosh pit, but we have had many festivals where the temps were in the 70's, and of course every event now has much more security than needed... Forgive the locals, it's the most sun they have seen in 5 months... see ya in 2007 ? sp00k etc ... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Sep 2005 12:33:42 -0400 From: "sp00k@poe.org" Subject: Re: NPR: Gulf-area Psychos Brendles wrote: >" ... As I rode my bicycle to the local minor league ballpark yesterday, I wondered if the sense of "it's something that's happening somewhere else" that I felt, is how much of our nation reacted to 911. Did 911 mean more to me because I live in NY, even if some 300 miles from NYC? The situation on the gulf coast is horrible, and at the moment what used to be New Orleans must be the most miserable place to be on the planet. I'm sure there will be lots of finger pointing, blame laying, and investigations for years to come, but for the majority of us, the most we can do is through the Red Cross http://www.redcross.org/ if you have seen the images of people stranded on their roofs, baking on their roofs, surrounded by water with none to drink, and if you have read the reports about life at the Superdome http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=&q=superdome&ie=UTF-8 You might wonder how that area will ever return to "normal" Sp00k etc ... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 02 Sep 2005 18:10:47 +0000 From: Subject: Re: POE MUSIC Share your thoughts!! I need help from anyone technically inclined who can explain a bit about USB ports. I just won an iPod Shuffle, and my laptop has regular USB ports but not the high-speed USB 2.0 ports. When I attach the iPod, I get a message that states I must add a high-speed USB host controller to my computer to obtain maximum performance. My question is, what is a USB host controller? Is this something I can download to upgrade my existing USB, or do I need to purchase a peripheral device? Thanks so much, Bren ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V10 #95 ***********************************
