When you lady opened for Depeche Mode in 2001, who did they have in the studio? Not DM, but Poe. They one of the radio stations that played the original version of HP (HOL mix). And when Poe releases her first RePoe Records CD, you better believe they'll be one of the first playing it, even if they have to do it at odd hours. 102.1 The Edge (KDGE Dallas, TX) also stands behind Poe. They play her songs on the Old School netcast and every once in a while on regular air time. Another station where you might hear the next album played. > Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2005 07:58:26 -0800 (PST) > From: Alex > Subject: Poe and I on the radio > > Last night I merged into traffic with my dial tuned > to > our local alternative rock station here in Portland > Or. 94.7 KNRK. KNRK was where I heard Poe for the first time way back in I wanna say '96? They were playing her in heavy rotation with Meredith Brooks, PJ Harvey, Ruby, Alanis Morissette, Tracy Bohnam, Garbage, Republica, Luscious Jackson, Alanis Morissette maybe a little too much Alanis Morissette, but you get the point. KNRK had Poe at their first big summer outdoor concert, the big stink. It was the first Time I saw her live. She was playing the second stage. Even though No doubt, Beck, Filter, Tracy Bohnam, a bunch of others I can't remember were there and Everclear headlined (they were like so big that year, ) I bought my ticket because Poe was on the list. I was a psycho then but didn't know it. I'd already gone desciPoEle and converted all my friends, who had good taste. She started her show and there was only a small crowd in front of the stage. I remember turning around about song three to see people flooding down the hill to be next to the stage. By the end of her set the crown was huge. I remember being struck by how different her sound was live than on her CD. I loved what I heard on the radio but this blew my mind. When she came back through Portland she played one of our small venues, Llaluna. There may have been 1000 people there but not too many more. The place was packed and there wasn't a bad spot on the floor. That was the best live performance I've ever seen. KNRK recorded that concert and I'd just about kill for a copy. I've already tried begging. I can't tell you how ready I am for the next album and the tour to follow. - -Alex > > KNRK has always supported Poe.
