His job is done. He's just expressed his meaning of life. So where does homosexuality fit in? Why does it exist at all? The fact is, it doesn't. What's natural, too often gets confused with what's normal. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is bunk...decent thinking, but still bunk. If homosexuality is not "natural" and is a perversion of nature, then why has it been with us historically for just about as long as humans have been on earth? Why does it also show up in other species, like dogs and ducks for example, which are not under our burden of wrath from a loving god? Is it not possible that the "natural function" of homosexuality is expressly to NOT have children? D'oh! The human genetic code amounts to what is called "spaghetti logic"...like a computer program that has been continually patched in order to install improvements and make other modifications...except with genetics, the new software/hardware has to be installed while the patched program/machine is running. Now, nature might solve this problem of not having children by producing sterile offspring, such as the male calico cat (only the red and white or black and white are fertile with males...the tri-colors are sterile), but the problem with spaghetti logic is that everything is built on or integrated into what has come before...it ain't so easy to simply make infertile humans without trashing the desire to live and be a productive being, which is going on at the very core of all fleshly life...ie: on a cellular level all flesh is almost desperately concerned with replicating itself cell-by-cell in order to stay ahead of the flames and not dissolve all the way back into the ashes and dust, which is what happens when we slow down and die. Reproduction of an entire new being via specialized cells is the godhead of this activity for most species....except when there are too damned many for the ecology to support. You know, speaking of the birds and bees, bees are all sterile except for the queen and a few specialized males that only live long enough to fight it out for the right to fertilize a new-born queen...the rest of the "males" are all drones. But bees are freakin' insects. Humans do not sustain much of a desire to live if they are forced to exist as drones. It just isn't in our programming, and it would take aeons to evolve a beelike humanoid. Homosexuality is not only natural, it works...and gay people are often hyper-productive members of society. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jul 2004 05:29:57 EDT From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Re: Frigging NPR, NPR, NPR... Debaters, and flamers, etc. There's proven scientific evidence that homosexuality is a combination of environmental factors and genetics. Read again, *proven* as in I read this is my freakin' college text book, not on some politically charged website or Christian newsletter going for or against an issue. Just because you want to believe one way regardless of all the facts staring you straight in the face doesn't make you right, it makes you ignorant. I'm not saying you're a bad person but coming up with your own theory based on your own musings doesn't make you right but I guess you have the right to believe whatever you want to as long as it doesn't negatively effect somebody else... The problem with incorrectly believing that homosexuality is a choice is because it's an excuse for other people to hate gay people. Let me give you an example of people who mean well but because they don't read inbetween the lines the thing they're trying to fix can cause distastorous results. The Laci Peterson law for convicting people for double murders for killing both the fetus and the mother when a homicide victim is pregnant. This law isn't even about Laci Peterson or any other murdered pregnant woman. It's about reversing Roe v. Wade. I'm sure the people personally involved with the Laci peterson case mean well by trying to get this enacted but if it is it will just be used to further somebody's politcal agenda that doesn't give a damn about Laci Peterson. In the same way you try to say homosexuality is a choice people use this same mentality to bash gay people by saying they deserve such treatment and they're sinful because they chose to be gay. This and ten million other reasons is why I am agnostic. As for the reason behind homosexuality in a scientific sense I have my own theories but I'll at least admit I was wrong when scientific research comes out that says otherwise instead of blatantly ignoring it as you do. Also, environmental isn't anymore of a choice than genetics is to a child. You don't choose what school you go to, what kind of house you live in, how abusive your parents are, how much money your family makes or whether or not both your parents live with you. Basically it is NOT a choice. I don't know how much more simple I can make this for people but then again if you refuse scientific fact than nothing I say or do will change your mind especially since you'll support an opinion that has absolutely no scientific basis other than that's what you believe to be true and because other like minded people have agreed with you (yet again another reason to be agnostic...). Jessica we both want to rape you - Tool P.S. to all Bring on the abortion debate. I dare you! (not you R. I have yet to hear about the gays and lesbians who have chosen to be straight. Yes, they chose. We can choose. Now, don't get me wrong, I think people may not have a choice in starting out being homosexual either. I know that sounds like an obvious idiot's contradiction. But hear me out. This is a stupid analogy, but it has a point. When each and every human is born (with a few exceptions) they are given a name. When I saw POE in November of '01, I was in a difficult relationship that was, despite my best efforts, spiralling to it's end. I hadn't felt happy or alive since late August of that year, a year that was the worst of my life so far. At the last minute I decided to go to the concert and it was the first time I had felt real and meaningful happiness in a while. POE helped me work through a lot of the emotions I had afterwards and helped me to move on and heal. This is what POE means to me, and more. This is why I'll wait as long as it takes to get news from her and to hear new music from her. Even if it never happens she'll always be an important part of my life. Just from raising my mice I can tell you that parents eat their young on a regular basis and that males frequently try and mount females that are trying to fight them off. Since homosexuality and abortion are against nature, as everyone has said, I think we should go with some more nature approved laws. First off we should ban homosexuality if it is found that it's not practiced in nature with any frequency. Second, abortion should be banned since no animal could possibly carry out that procedure, most lacking opposable thumbs and all lacking the surgical skills and tools needed. Actually, on that thought, let's just ban surgery all together, since the goal here would seem to be reverting to the natural state. In their place, rape should be made legal, since animals often do that. Also, how about allowing infanticide (maybe even cannibalism) since I've seen that happen frequently in cages. Eat more babies, like Fat Bastard says. If people do want to keep marriage around and keep it to its biblical roots, then there's a few more laws that need to be on the books or amended to the constitution. Go to http://www.whitehouse.org/dof/marriage.asp and have a look for yourself. One more question for all you still reading this... if being gay is strictly a choice and nothing more, then why would a person decide to be gay? Is there any significant benefit from it that they derive? They will be persecuted more frequently than accepted. Unwanted children are no longer as big an issue for hetersexual relations thanks to birthcontrol methods. As a friend of mine once said, "I once tried to be bisexual because I figured I could get laid twice as much, but I'm just not in to guys."
