Many many generations back, a great great great...grandmother of mine, whose last name was Decatur, got married and hated the idea of relinquishing her last name in favor of her husbands. She didn't quite have the balls to demand she keep it (they didn't go for the hyphenated thing back then either)! so she used her maiden name as a middle name for all her daughters. She also demanded that they in turn give the same middle name to all of their daughters and so on and so on--and she explained to them why. In other words for generations now, all the girls have shared that middle name, and if I ever had a daughter I would give the same name to her. I would have loved to meet that crazy ancestor of mine, as I think she was quite ahead of her time. It was a clever way for her to demand that she be remembered at a time when women were defined only by their husbands. She was a social revolutionist and she didn't even know it! She rocked! xoxo Poe ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V9 #38 **********************************
