Hello everyone! My name is Carl Bales. I am a 23 year old male from St. Louis, MO. Just joined the mailing list and I hope I am doing all of this right. I have been listening to Poe for years, and somehow never caught on to the fact that there was this whole angry psychos thing out there. I mean I knew of the angry psychos, but I always just thought it was a name that Poe fans went by. A kind of heartfelt nickname given by Poe to her fans. I didnt realize it was a full blown thing like this. VERY COOL!! Anyway, I first heard Poe on MTV believe it or not. I was about 15/16 years old and up late watching videos when this amazing blonde beauty came on the screen. I remember the video like it was yesterday, Angry Johnny. My favorite part was when she was walking backwards away from the camera and all the red fabricy stuff was flowing around her.. yeah.. that was good. I was hooked immediately.. as soon as the video ended I wanted more, and stayed up all night until the video played again so that I could tape it and watch it over and over. I bought the album Hello immediately, the very next day and since then have loved Poe with a passion that has confused and bewildered others. I even got my best friend hooked, and together she and I have spent many hours, months, years salivating over every song on every album, and even spent massive amounts of time and headache downloading rare tracks to add to our collection. The last Poe concert, when she was on tour with the Patene ProVoice winners "Think of England", I signed up for the PoePass contest, and much to my hysterical delight, won the contest and the chance to meet Poe. She was fabulous, the show was fantastic, and did I mention, she was fabulous? God, meeting Poe and hanging out on her tour bus, hugging her... (hehehe)... even thinking about it now it seems like a dream. And the best part of it all... not only did I win, but so did my best friend... WE both got to be the PoePass photographers... it was the coolest. One final thing and then I will end this unseemly large message.. other artists I enjoy. Here is a short list: Tori Amos Duncan Sheik Fiona Apple (her music, not her publicity) Elliot Smith Garbage Bree Sharp Travis ... and so many others...! Anyway, that pretty much does it for me. Thanks for existing psychos. I hope to get to know all of you much better. Peace! Carl _________________________________________________________________ Our best dial-up offer is back. I first heard "AJ" earlier that sping. For our radio exams we had to do a 10 minute radio show complete with different features like news, entertainment, sports, some jingles, station IDs etc. We also were allowed to play 1 song. They suggested we maintain a theme throughout. I knew I wanted to use "AJ" so my theme was "Psycho Radio". All the news was about celeb stalkers, kindannpers etc. My teachdrs loved "AJ". Said ti was a great choice for songs. Because I needed the song for the show I 'had' to buy the whole CD. Who would have known that I would have fallen in love with it and Poe too. I was even tempted to change my song choice to "Trigger Happy Jack". _________________________________________________________________ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=dept/bcomm&pgmarket=en-ca&RU=http%3a%2f%2fjoin.msn.com%2f%3fpage%3dmisc%2fspecialoffers%26pgmarket%3den-ca ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Dec 2003 10:00:06 -0500 From: "sp00k@poe.org" Subject: NPR Winter Storm Warning If you are one of those people who like to watch a good snow storm... http://rocpic.com Winter Storm Warning .. I'd KILL to meet, let alone hang out with, POE! I HATE YOU! Not really, i just envy you! I don't get it... Even if i am on this list, no matter how often i go to the site, go to auctions, check tour dates, and no matter how often i look at the POE news, i am always missing something! that or i don't have the money!!! The last concert that was in ohio i couldn't go to (no car or money to buy ticket), of course, that was the last concert THAT I KNOW OF. I get really really jealous of all these people that get to see POE numerous times, get to buy all of her merchandise, have all of her albums (i have Hello and Haunted, but not the hello single...you know...the one with the seven remixes). Although, i have met liz phair. ...She hugged me and signed my shirt...BUT SHE'S NOT POE! I hate money. I would talk more about that, but i won't. Instead, i will say this: a person is called a fanatic when they madly in love with an artist/group. They are called a "number one" fan if they have the money to go to concerts (and the car), to buy merchandise, and win auctions. So, depending on how much...you have (experience of artist/group or amount of things you have related to that artist/group) makes up how much of a fan you are. Is that fair? No. I know that i appreciate POE more than atleast one person that has met her. *sigh* I will shut up now. I am sorry Carl if you thought that this was directed toward you. I am not mad at you. I was at the site looking at the auction things and photos of winners, and i just feel like they are saying, "I am more of a fan than you are because i can spend 200 dollars on an auction." I am not mad at anyone in particular. I am not wanting to start trouble, i just wanted express that. Back to where i started: I would kill to meet POE. I love her, and she has...well, she is one of the reasons i am still alive. She has inspired me to do so much, her and her brother both. I would not be the person i am today without POE. Yes, i adore POE. I am always having dreams about meeting her. Once i had a dream that i met her in Kroger's. lol. Just shopping, and i heard someone singing a POE song, and it really was her. but... I will meet her one day. I promise myself that. I promise myself. lol. sorry for bitching! wes Wes* "Through dangers un-told, and hardships un-numbered......" -From the movie Labyrinth _________________________________________________________________ Winterize your home with tips from MSN House & Home. http://special.msn.com/home/warmhome.armx ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Dec 2003 15:59:30 EST From: Doxiegrl1@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR The Music Man, I love the music!
