Tracie ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 12:56:50 -0400 From: Spud Subject: why the BBS needs to be fixed soon a few weeks ago i too read dustin's email to the list however i didnt feel the sympathy Poe did, I felt slightly retarded reading his message about losing that killer dream job at 7-11, never making that joint venture with the guy that dies close to your house, in fact i didnt even understand half of it...but the main thing is, it had little to do with poe, except for the fact that he complained about the BBS being down and that had been known for a day or two before dustin's silly message; if the BBS had never gone down, he probably would have posted to the BBS and it would have been lost and forgotten about by the people who read to read his thread, and many APs never would have had to read it...so i beg poes technical peeps to fix or update or whatever you need to do to get a working BBS again to save us all from boring email before i get a reply saying 'oh youre mean youre an asshole talking about a fellow AP like that' the post had little to do with poe, her music, an actual experience with poe, an imaginary experience with poe, or anything even distantly related. if you really want to hear about the traumatic lives of your fellow APs, i'll personally ask smoe.org to start a brand new mailing list poe-fans-lives@smoe.org and you can read all about the terrible unfair lives of your brothers and sisters, however i dont really want to hear it. - -Spud- - -- and the battles won and the planes keep winging and i'm right on time and the girl keeps singing - --- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 14:57:19 EDT From: Dan98908@aol.com Subject: Re:NPR: why the BBS needs to be fixed soon Hello spud@poe.org, In reference to your comment: h before i get a reply saying 'oh youre mean youre an h asshole talking about a fellow AP like that' the post h had little to do with poe, her music, an actual h experience with poe, an imaginary experience with h poe, or anything even distantly related. if you really h want to hear about the traumatic lives of your fellow h APs, i'll personally ask smoe.org to start a brand new h mailing list poe-fans-lives@smoe.org and you can read h all about the terrible unfair lives of your brothers and h sisters, however i dont really want to hear it. -Spud- I am confused here. Have you been following the AP list long Spud, (that was sarcasm, I know you have)? At least that post had something to do with personal impact on a fellow APs life, something that at least affected HIM. What percentage of the posts here have NOTHING to do with music, let alone with Poe! I suggest about 70% plus! I would not object to see the list be ONLY Poe related (of course then what would be the point of HAVING the list the last couple years then) and to have the "no flames" part of the rules that were established when this list was first formed and are still part of the information new members are supposed to read before subscribing to the list.... if that were followed there would be VERY few messages. But what seems to be a consensus among most who have posted on the subject is that the AP list and the APs are about MORE then JUST Poe! Sure, she is the magnet that brought us together, but it is a community and we have always cared as much about each other as we do about Poe. After all, except for a year or two around each disc, news about Poe is pretty scarce but WE are all still here! I know some get pissed about reading requests for help with a school project or some personal tragedy that while devastating to a fellow APs life has little consequence to ours....but I would like to think that those people are in the MAJOR minority and that most of us really DO care about each other, and that we can have confidence most really care about us! (As long as we remember to put NPR before the NPR messages for those few who don't want to hear about it.) Spud, this is not a flame toward you, I might not even be right! I have been a firefighter/paramedic all my life, caring is what i DO... so I obviously have a warped sense of the world ( that was serious, not sarcasm) with all I have seen and done in my career how could I be "normal"? I would REALLY like to see some NONflaming conversation about this ... what IS the AP list for? Is it JUST for Poe related comments? SHOULD all NPR "stuff" be relegated to a BBS? While not Poe related per se, are personal messages about marriages, children, school, deaths ( of people or our cars and pets) and all the other milestones that MAKE our individual lives really off topic to this list? I for one sure HOPE not! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 15:36:33 -0400 From: "sp00k@poe.org" Subject: Re: why the BBS needs to be fixed soon - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Spud" To: Sent: Friday, September 26, 2003 12:56 PM Subject: why the BBS needs to be fixed soon > > a few weeks ago i too read dustin's email to the list > however i didnt feel the sympathy Poe did, Nor did I. I was too busy attempting to ward off a possible flame war relating to BBS's, or chats, so I didn't metnion that if he wanted to chat visit Http://Poe.Org In the past, people have posted to the list in the middle of the night that they would like to chat, and people do show. So don't be shy to do a shout out to the AP list if you want to chat on http://poe.org #poe irc.dal.net if you NEED someone to chat with... they will show. And I don't think you need an NPR to shout out to the AP list to go to Http://Poe.Org . enjoy sp00k etc ... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 15:03:59 -0600 From: "melly ."
