I really love this town. What a great event...even the proceeds went to a
music education foundation. Crazy cool.

Jeeesus-H...apparently I need a date.  ;-)  ...but yeah, she was amazing
both visually, aurally, and presence-wise.

but all this hotel california stuff got me thinking of travis' cover of
britney spears' "one more time." it's taken from vh1's storytellers so
naturally at the begining of the song, they tell a story. basically, they
started playing it the night before and fran (i think. i can't really tell
their voices apart) was like "oh no, not hotel california. i hate that
song." and then it turned out to be "baby one more time."... so when they
started playing it he said, "this is hotel california..." and the whole
crowd laughed. upon further review, this post was rather pointless, but i
wanted to share =)

Hmm, nice to see POE again.  Of course, since I'm on California time, I got 
it later than the rest.  It's about 6:30 in the morning.  I'm gearing up to go 
to my work (file clerk for GMACRFC in Walnut Creek) and thought I would check 
my mail real quick before I got into the shower.  Nice suprise!!  I never got 
sung to sleep , with my dad it was always Hello Dolly at the dinner table.  He 
passed away when I was 12.  Well, the birds are singing, the fog is blocking 
out the sun, it looks like it's going to be another nice No. Cal day. Time to 
continue counting down until my 28th birthday on Saturday.

Absolutely great song ... but oddly tragic that it's
running through your head.  Supposedly (and contrary
to the stories I heard that prompted the research) the
song is about the golden trap that grabs and corrupts
musicians in the west coast music scene and never lets
them leave.

Having grown up on the west coast and spent inordinate
amounts of time around struggling musicians (thank the
gods I wasn't one, 'cause I would have failed
miserably ... I don't have the dedication needed) that
had occasional bouts of heady hedonistic success, I
can see how success could grasp you like a devil's
gift.  But, I don't know how it is any more - those
days are far behind me now, I haven't lived in the US,
let alone California in years, and life has performed
its inevitable progression and carried me into the
unknown ...

Hmmm, actually the song has very large vampire like over tone, which of
course does not rule out record label executives unfortunately. I mean the
whole "they stab it with their steely knifes but they just can't kill the
beast." is pretty obvious. However if you look into any song, you can go
looking for just about any metaphor. My favorite P+e song for that is
"Strange wind" one day I hope to ask P+E what she was thinking when she
wrote that. =)

speaking of the book, those of you whom have the "Haunted" album, how many 
of you have the extra 18th track? it is.... i am asuming Mark, reading an 
excerpt from his book to the music of "hey pretty"...i do not know if this 
is THE "hey pretty" remix, but.... there is a difference in the cds 
themselves aswell. the one with the 18th track is pink and white, the 
original is black and white. i have a copy of both...good stuff. hehe! i 
love POE so much. I'd die to meat her... i'd do...A LOT to just ....have her

Notajunkie converted the hex awhile back and got a resulting .aif file. 
I've pulled it off the old backups of poe.navelsex.com and made it
available (http://poe.navelsex.com)  Below is the textfile explaining
it.  Lisa, if you come up with something different, I'd love to get a
copy of it to put up there as well. :)
	I've also posted copies of Anything (as was requested too long ago.)
Sorry about the delay. Life gets hectic, and the summer makes you want
to go outside instead of dig through CDs. :)  I've also posted the full
.shn copy of "Heavenly Poe" since it had one of the copies of Anything
on it.  so, go download, use the bandwidth I'm paying for anyways. :)

yeah, the textfile.. here it is:

Taken from the binary codes on the inside cover of the Hard Cover
version of
 "House of Leaves" this is the sound file that it formed.

What I did, was scan the pages of the book, convert them into text
using an OCR program, and then brought them into WinHex. From there
I made it into an .aif file. But keep in mind that because of the
process I used, the file might not be perfect, but I tried my best at
this time.

If anyone has ideas as to what the sound is, or what it could be, send
me an e-mail.
