I was sooo disappointed. And the new song sounded like something I might listen to anyway but it just didn't click with me. I am willing to give the rest of her songs a chance anyway. I also wanted to remind everyone (we all know who you are) to please use NPR especially when sending junk mail forwards that no one wants anyway....because we all know they are stupid and fake and don't work...right? I need "Hey Pretty" and "Angry Johnny", does anyone have an idea of which way I should look? I haven't cruised IRC or Kazaa yet, mainly cause my only fast internect connection is through work. I was hoping for maybe a website or FTP site. Anyone help? They sound like they were written by a child: "If I could tell the world just one thing it would be that we're all ok, and not to worry cuz worry is wasteful and useless in times like these." This sort of "innocence" has always been the root of her charm and sets her apart from the myriad of cynical, jaded, naked-and-pissed-off singers out there. Jewel is adored by the "Touched by an Angel" crowd (Angel Standing By, one of my favorites by Jewel, could be a theme song for that show). Her vision is hopeful, simple, and pure. It is because of Jewel's "innocence" (which itself is a combination of reality and careful marketing), that people are so offended by her "slut-video." We expect our good little innocent girls-next-door not to display any overt sexuality. Nice girls are modest, cover their bodies, and don't think about sex- until they are deflowered and spoiled and then they become hookers and whores (as jewel has been called on this list). In either case, she does not OWN her sexuality. Whether valued for her chastity and innocence or valued as a sexual commodity, her sexuality is still the thing that is being sold- they are just two sides of the same oppressive coin. It isn't an issue whether male singers make videos wearing jeans and a t-shirt or whether they make videos with their shirts off and tight leather pants. Of course men sell their looks as well as their talent but they are not considered sluts and whores- men are allowed to own their sexuality. Jewel should be given the same luxury. Angry Johnny, Trigger Happy Jack, Hey Pretty, and Poe's little interview thing from the TV Guide channel about the making of Haunted. I think Dean made it. I have Soulseek and Kazaa, and also AIM and MSN, although I'm under the University's firewall, so the IMs don't work very well with sending files. - -Michael _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. It's getting incredible attention from literary agents, and I was asked to adapt it to a screenplay; that's getting great attention, also. POE inspired me to write many poems.
