Dallas - ----------------- I think, judging by all the brand name ripoffs that pop up in Jewel's video during all the full-color "daydream" sequences, and by the way she is (quite obviously and purposefully) imitating the images of pop stars like Kylie Minogue (the black outfit) and Christina Aguilera (the yellow-pants parking lot dance), and also the scrolling text during the fake-TRL bit that Jewel is making fun of those girls. An interesting way of going about it -- to actually become them for a moment in video history -- and not exactly such an original idea, but I think the point is there and clear. I'm still unclear as to how the video relates to the song lyrics, but I don't think it's any coincidence that when the brightly colored glamour scenes occur there are lots of corporate logos and slogans, and lots of pop culture images. I think she is an incredibly smart woman. Because she isnt just selling out. She is telling everyone how she is selling out. It's sad when artists have to do so, but i agree with her. Her label keeps her around to make money. The more money she makes them, the more oppourtunity she is given. The new song, Intuition, lyrically, is GREAT! Real tounge-in-cheek jab at pop culture, as is the video. Go Jewel! Then again, I am not from the video genre per se...I recall MTV when it first came out, and was "Out there" artistically, with new wave and punk on the scene, and it was actually very avant garde in a sense...frankly, I still prefer to make up my own "videos" in my mind, instead of letting someone dictate to me what the song interprets...or not . Unlike solar eclipses, lunar eclipses are safe to view with the naked eye. In North America, the moon will remain totally eclipsed for 53 minutes, and should turn substantially darker and reddish in color. The total eclipse will start at 8:13 PDT in Los Angeles, 11:13 p.m. EDT in New York. A second lunar eclipse, on Nov. 8, will be visible from North and South America. Eclipses once helped prove the earth is round, because its shadow on the moon is curved. Eclipse Timeline Begin Partial Eclipse: 10:03 P.M. Moon 50 Percent Eclipsed: 10:37 P.M.
