If the Iraquis had nukes the Bushies would have been shouting it from the rooftops by now in order to justify their oil grab...and Sadaam would have announced it to the world as soon as he had nuclear capability just so he could be the baddest ass in the middle east apart from Israel, which he already thinks he is. Look at how lightly we tread where Korea is concerned. Know how many nukes they have total? Not more than 2 or 3. If we find nukes in Iraq after the invasion, you can bet they are plants, just like narcs will plant stash on people to bust them for dope. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2003 12:52:37 -0500 (EST) From: Derek Subject: NPR:More debate, delete if tired of it - -------Original Message------- From: Derek Sent: 03/20/03 12:41 PM To: jadeshamrock@mindspring.com Subject: NPR:More debate, delete if tired of it > > >>Constructive by whose standards? And you "know"this to be reliable how? Isn't that the same as people who get their news from CNN/NBC?? Oh, of course not, that would be too inconvenient for somebody who through their own words comes across as an opportunistic, overzealous fanatic, who knows "THE REAL TRUTH" about what is going on. I'm sorry, I didn't realize you had a direct pipeline to the "pure, unadulterated truth".Please. Unless you are reporting to us as you discover these "conspiracies" and "coverups" yourself, don't insult our intelligence by attaching the word "Truth" to your postings. I really don't think the truth is to the far left or the far right, its somewhere in between. IMHO anybody who takes media news as gospel (again, mainstream or underground or alternative) is a fool, and that in itself speaks of blinding zeal and bogus personal agendas. I'm sure there are all types of shady, reprehensible dealings that have occurred and are occurring, with our leaders and government, and will probably continue to do so. I'm not an anarchist, but neither do I think that *any* government is 100% legit. But hey, at least I can say so and I don't have to worry about somebody shooting my family for it! And until I see proof of these "shady" dealings of our government, I think I'll focus on issues that affect me and my loved ones directly, like the repealing of Medicare/Medicaid as my folks are getting up there now. And you know what? Maybe this war is about oil and distracting us from the economy, but then again maybe it is about freedom,or here's a novel thought maybe it's about BOTH! I'm sure the soldiers over there aren't intentionally fighting to line the government's pockets and to distract America (and themselves) from issues at home, if that is the case, you can be sure they aren't consciously supporting it. And financial incentives? C'mon! Police, military personnel, social workers and teachers are among the LOWEST paid professions out there and probably should be among the HIGHEST! And that's even considering the discounts they get. And where are you getting your statistics of "half" of the people enlisted are there for "financial incentives" Most of the people I know that are enlisted are there to serve their families and their country, and have a full-time job when not active. So much for "financial incentive". How can you assume to know their reasons for joining? And how can you assume to know where one is getting their news? Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups. I'm just as angry as the next person about some of the shit our government has pulled, but at the same time I'm not shooting my ill-informed mouth off and labeling whatever comes out of it as "Truth". ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2003 13:43:37 -0800 From: "DesertOpal" Subject: NPR: More debate, delete if tired of it And you know what? Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups ____________________________________________ I really agree with this. I had intended to write something very similar, he just got there first. lol. My thing is, I'm not some mindless zombie, who is sitting brainwashed in front of my local CBS station. To Mr. Gecko's credit, I checked out every single link he posted to this site, in addition to many other sources, in order to receive well rounded sources of information. Some of it is blatant paranoia, some of it makes some very valid points. This war may be about freedom, it may be about oil, it may be about stealing our rights out from under our feet, but reading into the "giant conspiracy theory" isn't going to get much accomplished. We're in it. Plain and simple. We're there. Its the consequences we're going to have to deal with and live with. This country is founded on democracy, and maybe it doesn't work as well as it was originally intended, but then what does? Its still the best damn system out there. And this is still the best damn country there is. We have more freedom than most others on this planet, we have a tendency to take them for granted. A little wake up call may not be uncalled for. What kind of rights do the people in Iraq have? And so what if this isn't really about "them" it will hopefully still accomplish the same end. Removal of one dictator crazy person who has no business running a country. Perhaps they'll just replace him with another, but maybe it will be a better one, or maybe they'll form another type of government all together. Who knows? I choose to take an optimistic point of view. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2003 13:50:37 -0500 From: JennaBopo@aol.com Subject: NPR news sources Hello all I have no interest in getting involved in all this political debate, but I did however come across a link that I wanted to pass on because I know that personally, I don't feel as informed as I should be, or that I don't know what to believe sometimes. Thus, this was sent to me from a friend, and I have not needed to go anywhere else to find any kind of news out there, mainstream, alternative, political leaning, international, etc... http://www.informedprogressive.com hope it's helpful for some Jennifer "Looking for words that were so ill-rehearsed, but I can't find them anywhere... with you, there's no easy answers..." ~Poe ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2003 15:10:15 EST From: Spidersrcute2@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR Bridget's success Way to go!!! I would rather we get people on our side about our music choices than our political choices. With the way things are going in our country, it won't be long before we give up most of our civil liberties in the name of " safety" and "patriotism". They've already asked us to "spy" on our neighbors, and now they are getting the records of school children to use in assisting their efforts to build the armies. How much longer before we okay taps to our phone lines and computers, and even filtering of our television so they can keep us safe from "terrorists?" I'm all for being American, but pretty soon it won't be "the land of the free" because we'll be giving in to government regulations on all fronts. I'm ready to go to Canada and live in the wilderness. At least then my opinions won't engender people to label me a traitor or anti-american. And I too am against the damn "freedom fries". Give me french fries any day. They're still oil fried potatoes no matter how you look at them. I highly recommend everyone giving them a good listen. Much more angsty then POE, and a lot louder. "Bring Me To Life" is a great song, as well as "My Immortal" (which brings me to tears every time I hear it). Also, "Going Under" and "Taking Over Me" are amazing as well. To be quite honest, there's not one song on their album that I don't like. ~Shelley >From: "Carolyn K" >To: angry-psychos@smoe.org >Subject: music~ Evanescence >Date: Wed, 19 Mar 2003 19:55:48 -0500 > > >Has anyone heard this band!?!? some of the songs seem similar to poe.. >eexcept louder.. there is a mans voice in the back ground of a afew songs >including "wash it all away" and she has a song "haunted" anyways check it >out.. you likely know "bring me to life" > >_________________________________________________________________ >Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8. Remember, no one acted immediately when Hitler began. Should we wait for 3 million to die? It's amazing to me that so many spend so much of their time debating this war. Without freedom you would not have such a luxury. Without freedom you have no will and without will you have no heart. Good to see passion, hope its directed toward those who are sacrificing once again for our freedom.
