I sold my first piece of art ever today for $180!!! My advanced sculpture class all donated pieces of art to the BAGI (Bay Area Glass Institute) glass auction; a rather stuffy event where old rich people got rather drunk and spent thousands upon thousands of dollars at the drop of a hat. I met some really cool glass artists! Anyway, that's not my main point. The piece I sold was entitled "Terrified Heart" after Poe's song. The stuffy middle aged man who bought it had never heard of her, but I told him that since he bought the piece he had to check her out. When I get my pics developed I will post them for all the psychos who are interested to see! It really is kinda a cool sculpture! The piece itself was not origionally inspired by the song, but when it came time to name it, there seemed to be no other name more appropriate. ~Dre P.S. Has anyone else ever done an artistic interpretation of Poe's music? I'm currently working on a piece that represents the line "time to gather up the splinters build a casket for my tears." It's really very emotionally personal, but her music is so emotionally significant in my life it is hard for me to seperate her music from my personal emotional experiences.
