Birdblack, What a well thought-out statement I beleive you have made. Unlike Bashful's thoughts that "someone" (I refuse to acknowlege by name) is pissing into a void because they delete his e-mails, I am forced to scroll though the digest and pick my way through the impertinence to get to any tidbits I might WANT to read! Almost every time, I end up scanning some disheartening nastiness that I choose not to adopt as my own outlook. Nonetheless- it can affect my day. Unfortunately, more often than not it is not a positive influence either. On another tangent altogether (erase your mind, I am starting fresh), master Birdblack, I found truths on many levels in your statement regarding organization, leadership, communities and accoutability (who said something more interesting acknowleging poison spreaders couldn't come of this). By taking your teachings to a larger level (since in reality this list matters little or not at all), you say that one way to deal with those who are not accountable is to attack their anger. You wrote, "So, how do we attack anger? You can't attack it by appealing to others on the list, for they already either agree or disagree with the malcontent. The answer is,.. you feed it. > The angrier the malcontent gets, the more extreme and less justifiable they become until they stand alone, knee deep in their own oral fecal matter." Do you believe this approach could be taken with all levels of evil- say even terrorists? I believe there has to be a way to make those folks look like the fools that they are without ever raising a gun. To fight them only martyrs them, right? To make them look like a joke would be to pull the rug out from under them, and with it likely the followers which rise up to take over. Hence, really "laugh in the face of my enemy." The reason I write back to you on the list and not privately is because I have found that this list can be ultra-positive when those involved used their brains for a constructive use. So by writing to you here, I am hoping to start a think tank on the subject. As my perspective is to try to generate positive thoughts and beneificial motives for humankind. What you say has a certain amount of wisdom to it, but I still disagree. Defeating a people who want us all dead is about more than making them feel bad about themselves. Its not about making terrorist feel like an idiot, he is holding a gun to your nations head, he doesn't give a rats ass what we think about him. Most people already think that all terrorists are a bunch of misbegotten fools. That hasn't stopped them. It is engrained in them to kill us, and feeling down isn't going to stop them. I had a conversation with a muslim once, [i work in a hotel.] and he said that in the Koran, it said that a great enemy from the west, with a flag of 13 stripes, or whatever, was the great enemy, and would be destroyed by the enemy to the north. [Russia i presome.] Do I believe that this is in the Koran? NO, well maybe, I want to read it to find out. But the point is, these people have been raised on a system of lies and deciet. So how do you defeat a terrorist network that has been raised to hate you? Simple, by crushing them. You could have hated the nazis, and fealt they were fools all through the regime, but they were not defeated by dark sentiments. They were defeated by people, who got up and did something about them. Not people who sat on their couches and said, wow, dem dare notzees really are dum. I hope by haten them day goes away. When dealing in the wholly cerebral realm, it is reasonable to say that once the sights and sounds of the world pass the portals of your eyes and ears, the vision then belongs to you to shape and perceive as you will. The world is how you choose to see it. However, in the context of the physical threat to the human body, thoughts become meaningless. A bullet or a bomb is tangible, hence, we must act in the tangible arena. It's not about how we feel. That is not to say that my method of dealing with sp00k does not have an application in the terrorist arena. Terrorists strike at a tiny part of the whole in a flashy way to terrorize the entire populous. That is their main weapon, and it is an effective one. We can neutralize this portion of their activities by doing just what I do with sp00k. Don't let it get to you. The damage done to the U.S. economy was not done by the destruction of the towers, it was done by the miasma that spread through the people. The worry,.. the uncertainty. It became a self fulfilling prophecy. Here, rather than humor, we must instead find resolve. We must set aside petty political differences and track them down root and branch. When their only acceptable outcome is our extinction, they force our position to be the same. Now, lest it be misunderstood, I in NO way equate sp00k with any terrorist or terrorist activity. That would put me on the same level as he when he refers to Dan as a Nazi. Hmmm. An Austrian born dictator who saw to the torture and murder of millions of Jews, and the total extermination of the Romani race,... and the owner of a fan web site for a singer. Yeah,.. Thank God that is not in the Koran or we would all really be in trouble! I assure you the guy who told you that was lying. The thing that stops other Arab nations from jumping in and backing the terrorists (both Al-queada and Palenstinian factions is that many of the Muslims do not view the Koran as they do and they feel that "Jihad" is actually the inner struggle to be pure. They also believe in the same 10 commandments as Christians and Jews. But my point is, perhaps if more people within the individual regions where terrorists are prevailent thought they were dumbasses (like most people think of our Ku Klux Klan) they wouldn't be as fast to sign up and follow them. [Sidebar] Although you always have what I call the "Gang mentality" for people who need a place to belong and find it in organizations: KKK, Mafia, Al-quesa, Bloods, Latin Kings etc. Unlike the Nazis, where if you didn't accept the draft you were killed as a traitor to your country, wannabe terrorists have to find (sometimes going to great lengths) the cells to engage them. Like the idea of Martyrdom being so honorable in Palestine, you have to remove to "cool" value. Those who act as the police, should practice what they preach. sp00k etc ... ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Aug 2002 12:51:39 -0500 From: "Reg" Subject: Re: NPR-FAVORITE MUSIC VIDEOS-NPR doh, i forgot some: Massive Attack - Teardrop Supergrass - Pumping On Your Stereo The Crystal Method - Name of the Game Pearl Jam - Jeremy The Verve - Lucky Man Tool - ANYONE! they're all good Stone Temple Pilots - Sour Girl Stone Temple Pilots - Big Bang Baby Korn - Freak On a Leash R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts A-Ha - Take On Me The Cure - Inbetween Days Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg - Nothin' But A G Thang - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lok Tina" To: "Jennifer Cook" ; Sent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 12:36 PM Subject: RE: NPR-FAVORITE MUSIC VIDEOS-NPR > > garbage- i think im paranoid > garbage- push it > smashing pumpkins- perfect > alanis morissette- precious illusions > kidneythieves- zerospace > aimee allen- revolution > pj harvey- good fortune > fiona apple- criminal > fiona apple- paper bag > fiona apple- never is a promise > bjork- its so quiet > > Tina L. > > --- Jennifer Cook wrote: > > > > Tori Amos - 1000 Oceans > > Tori Amos - Caught A Lite Sneeze > > Coldplay - Trouble (One of those videos I could > > watch over and over > > again!!!) > > White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl > > White Stripes - Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground > > Vines - Get Free > > Travis - Why Does It Always Rain On Me > > Travis - Sing > > Travis - Side > > Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up > > Ryan Adams - Answering Bell > > The Hives - Hate To Say I Told You So > > > > ...to name a few > Yahoo! I know that is not in the Koran. But this guy was from the middle east, and he was very sincere as to what he had to say. I do not think that it was historically in the Koran, but I think the book has been altered in some areas of the world to teach the populace to hate us. Its not as though a government or people would attempt to alter beliefs to breed hatred or something. People would never be lied to by a leader of sorts, just to serve their own purposes. IE Pope Urban II, the crusades... and many others in history. So, the moral of the story is down with communism, and terrorists. And never forget, your being watched, their everywhere, they hear everything you say, they see your e-mails, everything. This phone is cool, but I've only figured out how to set the voice commands and play battleship on it! Thanks for the help, all.... That is one thing Muslims pride themselves entirely upon. The first Q'uran was written down by Mohamed's prophets word for word and for 14 centuries it has been word for word copied. In fact, that is why most die-hard Muslims learn Arabic to read the Koran. While translated versions might be per utterance, the problem is that in Arabic one word might mean several things. Therefore, one of the beautiful things about the book is, like Shakespeare one sentence can have several multi-layered meanings. Unfortunately, since the Muslim religion is not really set up as one head of church leading the flock (hey kinda like us APs!), they are welcome to frequent disagreeances and wildly varying view points. Western Muslims certainly wouldn't chop off your hands for stealing, stone their wives for adultery, or make the women wear a burqa. Neither would Muslims in "westernized" countries like Morocco and other left sided countries. But in Iran those consquences are not open to argument. Anyway, I am not a Muslim but I pride myself on knowing a bit about the religion. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Aug 2002 17:48:34 -0500 From: JOE O NELSON Subject: NPR: Morpheus Down The Crapper I was just trying to download some Poe songs and some other things of Morpheus but they kept failing.
