I am by no means saying that it couldn't be true, I am just asking for a clearer explanation. I understand that some of the flame wars send people away from the list, but specifically with regards to a record label, why would a company looking to sign Poe care if people on her fan list are having an argument? That seems like a really weird factor to take into consideration when looking at the profit potential of an artist. I will await explanation. The first thing to understand is that the APs are a fan base like none other. Sure, ... every group of fans wants to think it's something special, but we have something that most others don't,... proof. When the APs have been asked, we have flooded phones and email boxes. Hey Pretty became a hit only after the APs got behind it and started pushing. We are dedicated beyond what most would consider reasonable, or even sane. Hence,.. we are Psychos. For all this blather about corporate this and corporate that, that I am supposed to be a part of, I make not one red cent for what I do. I do the HTML and audio/video work on http://angry-psychos.infopop.cc and Dan, littleREDelf and now Zoey work on the BBS and the other content. No paychecks go out. We do it all for the love of Poe. If anyone were to write to this list and say, "Poe has released a new single and we really need to push it. Call these numbers and mail these addresses..." BOOM, over night the email servers would choke and their phone lines would incinerate. And that translates to money. Money is exactly why the APs are looked at as a selling point for Poe. If we act as a unit, CDs sell. If we are a divided and argumentative, we are bad PR. We have recently started a site for our show - www.geocities.com/pleasurekittensradio - check it out if you'd like. There are a couple playlists up, but don't think that what they display are the staples of our show. Our shows have varied, some towards an 80s feel, others towards metal, it all depends on what my co-host and I feel like playing. :) Anyway, we're desperate for new music, and we like giving new bands a chance. I was thinking, if any woman out there had a band (female-fronted), or wrote their own music and wanted to get more airplay, they could send a CD demo/ep/lp to WXCI c/o Vixen Western Connecticut State University 181 White St. Danbury, Connecticut 06810 We would gladly give your music airplay, and you would be helping us by providing us with new material for our show. So, I hope to hear from some of you soon. E-mail me if you'd like more information. Black Dove, otherwise known as DJ Vixen PS - I am the Music Director at this station, so if anyone is working on a new album, I may be able to help you out by putting it into our rotation. Portman, 20, was not even born when the first two ``Star Wars'' movies came out, and she had not seen the original trilogy until she was cast in ``Star Wars: Episode I--The Phantom Menace.'' ``It really wasn't my thing. It still isn't my thing, the whole science-fiction action thing,'' Portman told The Associated Press in a telephone interview this month. ``I prefer simpler, character-based movies.'' " . . . and it fucking shows. And here's my review without any spoilers . . . Obi-Wan Kenobi: Ewan McGregor Senator Padme Amidala: Natalie Portman Anakin Skywalker: Hayden Christensen no spark, no passion, no reason Senator Padme Amidala and Anakin Skywalker (who, although a different, older actor, still didn't offer much improvement) And this is owing mostly to the dialogue between them was trite and awful. And a good portion of the movie is handed over to them in tired, cliche romantic exchanges. Ewan MacGregor, i have always had complete faith in. i'm pretty sure he could portray an attractive table lamp with a burnt out bulb in an empty sitting room and still deliver a stunning performance. He gave his lines, awful as they were. Samuel L. Jackson playing Mace Windu led to some compelling and sexy light sabre work as we will all go to see anyway. BUT --- Yoda is the one carrying the wallet that says "BAD MOTHERFUCKER." And i'll leave it at that . . . Best scene in the movie, given by a muppet: part animation, part foam art. Summation: Eye-candy, unfortunately . . . it's candy corn. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Reg" To: Sent: Tuesday, May 21, 2002 3:59 AM Subject: NPR: attack of the clones i did see the new star wars. i actually liked it. it was fast paced with not too many boring lovey-dovey moments. acting by natalie portman and heyden (sp?) christensen was weak to say the least. but i liked ewan mcgregor. the fight sequences were cool and the last battle was simply awesome. can't wait for part III. - -reg ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 May 2002 14:56:27 -0700 (PDT) From: Wes Overall Subject: NPR Re: Breeders Tour!
