Whoa there! No need for homicide. It's really not all that difficult to get a chance to meet Poe. I've been to six of her shows total, and I've gotten to hang out and chat with her at four of those... I got pulled up on stage at the other two. Poe is INCREDIBLY appreciative of her fans. The first time I met her it required hanging out near the bus for two hours and flirting with a not very attractive security guard for about a half hour. Eventually he went backstage and told Poe she had some fans who wanted to meet her, and she hung out and signed autographs for us for over an hour. She's a very cool person. Definitely catch a live show if one ever comes your way. I've driven over 6,000 miles following her around the country, and it's been well worth it every time. ===== "Be who you are and say what you feel. I have to agree 100% with you Miki. POE is VERY approachable and genuinely nice and appreciative. The first (and so far only time) I've seen her in concert when she sang beautiful girl she pulled up all kinds of women from the audience. The first girl she pulled up (and please don't think I'm being mean) was a slightly obese girl who was there alone and one could tell by her body language that she was uncomfortable with herself (atleast in my perception). Well, when POE pulled her up there this girl who hadn't smiled that entire night was grinning like the cheshire cat and crying (joyfully). That really touched me because this girl (again to me) was obviously troubled by something and it seemed POE saw this too, and that was why she pulled her up there first. She loves pulling people up on stage from what I can tell, and remembers faces and names, which to me is just a credit to her as a performer. After she pulled me up on stage she recognized me after the show and remembered my name. I was taken back! So the next show you can go to when she tours again, it is definitely worth it! You won't regret it, and like I (and others) have said, it is pretty easy to meet her in person. And Andrea, as far as her early life goes, have you heard "How Long"? I downloaded it off of Napster a couple of years ago, it doesn't give any concrete evidence, just more allusions, but it adds more pieces to the story. I haven't read House of Leaves by her brother, but according to an interview with POE, her brother's book is his response to growing up in the same environment, whereas her music is hers, so that may give a few more pieces, although my understanding is the book is fiction. She probably isn't forthcoming with information because of it personal nature. Hope that helps! D > >> I >> would KILL someone if I had the opportunity to meet >> her in person!!! > > Whoa there! Miki's absolutely right. When we saw her, after the show we waited by the bus FOREVER! and she did finally come out. And even though she was being firmly encouraged to hurry up to get on the bus she stayed and made sure that she greeted everyone that had been waiting (granted there weren't a WHOLE lot of us, the crowd dwindled because it took so long).
