Anyway our selection of discs at work SUCK, aside from the Modern Rock Alternative discs, which by the way are not allowed to be played before 10 am, which sucks because my shift starts at 3. ANYWAY to the PR part, all three discs have a Poe song on it, which rocks my world! The first disc we got like 7 months ago has Hello on it, and the second one has Today on it. The most recent one we got has Hey Pretty on it [not the remix], and it's the FIRST song that usually plays [sometimes it doesn't] and i'm a happy bunny! Oh yeah and by the way Muzak also sucks because uh...they charge us $50/disc and all three of the modern rock discs contain like 20/60+ of the same songs on each disc, except for the Poe ones which makes me a happier bunny. Okay enough of my ramble <3 Joss PS Hi, Gypsy! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Apr 2002 15:37:17 EDT From: Dan98908@aol.com Subject: Data Backroad BBS - Poe related and NPR in part I have a couple things I need your input on. First let me tell you that I posted the missing audio message from Poe that she made the night of 9/11 and if you have never heard it you should, it is amazing. There is also the Hey Pretty Parody that KNRK did and AP Brad Walsh's 43 minute audio interview from a few weeks ago in Feb. We have gotten a pretty significant complaint that may have merit and I would like your thoughts. Sp00k is upset that too many NPR messages are being posted on the BBS that are not being posted on the AP list. That is true, but I thought that was a GOOD thing, that there was too much NPR stuff on here and having another outlet to express it would be a good thing. Do you guys want me to cross post NPR messages from the BBS to this list? My feeling is anyone that wants to read them is welcome to go there and double posting would be redundant. I will be happy to do so if you want. His second complaint was that we allow chats in other venues then #poe and that this is somehow anti-AP. We directly link to #poe, we directly link to and from poe.org and poe.st. Some of the users set up a chat room on MSN and others have asked that we allow a chat room and IMs live on the site as part of the BBS. I posted a poll asking what the users wanted. The first poll clearly identified #poe on DalNet as the official AP chat and that it should be supported. I asked was that good enough or did we need another for BBS users to just play in. #poe would remain the official AP chat. Only 12 voted, but 11 of those 12 said they wanted an alternative to#poe. Don't ask ME why, ask them! Now we are setting up that site and Sp00k feels that we should go against the wishes of our users and force them to go to #poe if they want to chat. When I said I would do what the users voted on in the online poll he complained that the AP list as a whole should vote on it, even if they did not use the BBS. So if you care, and want a vote, go to the polling area at bbs.poe.st and make your opinion known. It is as easy to point it at #poe as it is to point it anywhere else or keep it internal, but I insist it is up to the users to decide. As I have stated from the beginning I set this up for YOU the APs. Make that US the APs, but I am your servant there, I will take the site in the direction YOU tell me to! If you have ANY ideas about what you would like to see on that site let Jarrod, Elf, Bird, or I know and we will do our BEST to get it done If we are doing anything you DON'T want done, feel free to do as Sp00k has done and let us know that to. It was COMPLETELY Poe related, why the rest of us were excluded from this chat is beyond me. I also have a quote here from Dan POEtic : We use #poe, even link to it, but some of the old school can be pretty intimidating to the newbies when we talk BBS business there This is the kind of shit that gives #poe a bad name, say it enough times and people believe it. It is the same shit dan was saying months ago, with his snotty little helper KoriG Now Dan, why dont you get out your quotes that show some of the "old school being intimidating" while you are discussing BBS business or anything else for that matter?
