I sent Musicalwaters this Letter. - ------------------------------------ Hi, lemme introduce myself. I am Shari, and I have been a member of Poe's faithful fan club for over a year. I am a college student, and I wish I had $2000. So do many people. I don't have $2000. BUT I do have an opinion, which I am sure MANY people share. (Those people, the AP's,have been forwarded a copy of this letters.) Maybe I am just one Angry Psycho(which is the name of Poe's fan base), but I have to say that it is really disrepectful to everyone involved that you go off selling Poe's masters. Especially at such a tremendous cost. And especially not to Poe, herself. Even if you're recouping losses from the beatle masters or something, the fact is that her fan base would probably snap these up really with quick glee and we would all get to bask in the glory of her talent, thanks to technology and you are trying to soak either some rich collector, like yourself, or start up a collection from us fans. THAT is bullshit. Some musical waters you are. If you really wanted to be a music collector or trader, you sell these as a traditional auction, with mininum bids that a realistic. For crying out loud, you could even make the Angry Psycho fan base copies of the music, and then sell the actual items. To deny an artist's fan base an opportunity, misrepresents your name and all you claim to be. Musicalwaters? Hell no. Try musical draught. I thank you for your time, if you were so kind as to read my letter. I would like to think this will make you change your mind on any degrees, and I appeal to your musical nature, but as greed is usually what ends musical purity, I don't expect much more than a angry reply, or nothing at all. The Poe Multimedia Archive future is unknown right now. I graduate May 12th, and lose my glorious college connection. I'm not sure what the future of the server is based on financial issues, but I will definitely do my best to get it back up on at least a cable modem or something when I can. However, finding a job is first and foremost my goal come May 12th. Hehe Anyone need a computer geek? http://Poe.Navelsex.com / http://mm.poe.st / http://multimedia.poe.st Current Uptime: 15 days 4 hours Data transferred since Nov 25, 2001: 40.20 gigs sent Space: Drive 1: 708 files 3.63 gigs Used out of 4.00 gigs 377 mb free Drive 2: 304 files 2.55 gigs Used out of 9.42 gigs 6.87 gigs free So go download the Poe goodies while you still can. :-) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Apr 2002 16:33:12 EDT From: VR5SBloom@aol.com Subject: mm.poe.st announcement As some of you know, Ed will be graduating from college very soon. (Yay Ed!!!) This means that he'll lose his nice fast school access that supports http://mm.poe.st/ since he'll be moving out. You have until around May 6-12th (one month) to leech everything you can from navelsex, until he packs up and moves out. After that, Ed will likely get broadband, but the upload bandwidth certainly won't be as good, and it also depends on if he can find a job that will let him pay for the luxury. As always I am quite willing to burn whatever for people. I would like to once again encourage people with broadband connections to offer Poe files through FTP, Direct Connect, AIM, IRC, whatever, to help other Angry PsYcHoS get files and take the strain off of Ed's server. Also, if you have anything you want to share, please ask me or ed@poe.org for the upload login. - --Michele, upload folder tyrant ;) http://www.shellE.org/ Home of PsYcHovixen, Poe documents (including the Poe discography), Garbage and Poe trading, eXej, 12 Rounds, Mono, and Exploration Z: A Haunted House Of Leaves Alternate Universe ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Apr 2002 20:26:21 -0700 (PDT) From: jes g Subject: Re: Poe - Kareoke style yeah i noticed that too..once a month i have to go to this karaoke...(sp?) thing..lol i don't sing but they had HELLO and HEY PRETTY and i was like..you soo have to sing this and of course no one knew it and i wasn't gonna torture those poor ppl with my singing....but it was really cool SnugaKitn@aol.com wrote: When Poe did the Borders tour in 2000 she called her little performances, "Poe - Kareoke Style" So Wednesday, as I do every Wednesday, I went to Kareoke with my friend Joe @BW3's So I come in, and Joe immedietly tells me, "THEY HAVE POE" I flip thru the book....POE - HEY PRETTY I nearly shit myself. I've always liked the band but I never investigated how they came about or what their lives were about. Seeing this makes me feel like in some small way I helped the band out by buying the CD's and telling my friends about them years ago. I feel the same way about Poe. I first heard her (Poe) from a friend who bought her first CD and got a kick from the Angry Johnny song when she said " I want to blow you....away". I borrowed the CD from him and kept it for a few months before he demanded it back. A few years passed and I downloaded some of here songs via free Napster (the glory days). AT night I drink and in a drunken haze fired un Music match and played 'Hello". I then looked her up on CD Now and found a link to the AP's. I joined the list and watched silently as people talked about many topics until one day I heard she was releasing another album. Up until then I thought she was a one hit wonder and these fans were crazy for hanging on to that one album oh so many years ago. I've never seem here in concert or at any book signing, for all I know she and I have never been in the same zip code at the same time. I guess being a member of this list, this club, has taught me allot about how fans behave and how they support one another and the artist, musician. It's cool. I've not seen her before as I'm sure allot of you AP's out there haven't, and I haven't read HOL but I still consider myself a fan of her music and I want you all to know that when she does release her next CD, you'd best stay out of my way because I'm getting the first copy! Take care AP's. "Warning...Drinking tap water can kill your thirst". ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V7 #99 **********************************
