I wish it had more info and more pictures, but it's all I got really, so I'm just happy to have that much. And, this is also my first posting here with the Angry Psychos. I believe that Poe would never fully turn her back on us, but instead we have to keep up with her. She's moving forward musically and as a person, but we're stuck in the past. let's get it together, and show her that we do love and respect her and the music she makes. We all can get along if we don't are already. Lets pick up the pace just a bit, and move on. Concentrate on what we know and do best. Lets put the books, no matter how good they are, and other things aside for just a second and concertate on the music. I'm here beceause of the music, and will stay because of the music. Listening to the show tonight brought back memories of my first shows at the La Luna in Portland. Seeing Poe's posts has reinstilled some hope that she will not turn her back on us and that she will soon LET us be part of her world again. I have to keep reminding myself that Poe and the APs have been tight for a long time, and it has only been the last few months that there was a problem. A while ago some money was raised on Paypal for Poe's gift. I am trying to work out a way that we can generate some cash for Poe as well. The CDs and tapes I have cannot be sold, but what I can do is give them to the Psycho that contributes the most money to the Poe Spring 2002 tour fund. It would have to be understood that you are not "buying" the CD or tape, you are winning it in our promotional contest, which was the very purpose they were given to me for. I can except Paypal, Bidpay, and Billpoint. I will make sure that Poe gets every penny except my direct costs of shipping and publishing the promotion. So I encourage you to pay WAY too much for what I sell and I promise you that I will tell Poe how much you contributed to her cause, unless you choose to do it anonymously. If Poe wants to give it to charity, she can...but we are giving it directly to her to show our continued support. I am putting up the first CD and tape tomorrow, I just have to confirm with the Oxygen Network that the old permission stands that the producer sent us. _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Jan 2002 16:55:41 From: "Debian Linux" Subject: Re: Angie Abuse >>snip Well, I think those are all wonderful ideas. Why don't you do something with them besides using them to support your gripe? I mean, if you think those are better ideas, I challenge you to suggest them, or even organize an effort of your own to help support POE. I mean, that is why we are all here, is it not? We all love POE, and would like to see her do well, am I right? So go for it! Easy to complain, harder to make a change. < Subject: Re: rewriting history? - anne rice Well, that was the impression I got. The gradual shift between her writing them as straight (or at least, giving the impression that they were) to having them being gay (or, yes, bi). Like I said, I'm sure there's room to argue because of justifying it in terms of the story rather than in terms of the way the story is written, and because she's very vague about those things. In any case, to help you try see it from my point of view, how would you feel if Lestat's hair suddently went from blond to black without any explanation at all? Oh, and for whomever was talking about vampires having sex, here's an excerpt from an Anne Rice FAQ I found (http://www.faqs.org/faqs/books/anne-rice-faq/part1/): **You said that many of the characters wanted to sleep with Lestat, does this mean that vampires have sex? Nope. While Anne's writing gets a little vague about this, Anne herself is not. When asked point-blank if her vampires could have sex she said no. Once a human becomes a vampire, they are no longer capable of sex and moreover, they're not interested. Louis put it best when he said that the pleasure from sex is but a pale shadow of the killing. Vampires get physical pleasure from drinking blood and killing. Of course, this does not keep them from getting involved in some pretty heavy petting, but that's another story. So yeah, if you saw them having sex then that's her going back and changing what she wrote before. From the very next entry: **Are all of Anne's vampires gay? No. And neither are they all straight. Vampires are, by nature, bisexual (meaning that they can fall madly in love with someone of either gender). Some of Anne's vampires were bi before they got the Dark Gift but all of them are bi after. This is an advantage for them as it's so hard for them to find companionship that having a problem with the gender of someone is really setting their standards too high. The reason why it looks like they're all gay is that many of the couples are made up of two men. This is because it took Anne a while to create some strong female characters for her strong male characters to hook up with. No more, no less. That part I don't agree with (it's mostly opinion). I've yet to see any lesbian vampires, also. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Jan 2002 12:09:03 -0600 From: "j." Subject: Re: I think you missed the point They don't get wood :) And as far as analyzing their sexuality, you're coming at it from a completely different angle than I am. You're talking about justifying it in terms of facts from the storyline. I'm talking about looking at the writing and not the storyline. I mean, it's like when in the comics (or soaps) when they go back and revive a dead character by announcing that it was really their clone and they were tied up in a closet somewhere. It's perfectly logical in terms of the story, but it's still obvious that the author's going back and changing history rather than the event being part of a previously planned story. - ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Jan 2002 11:29:51 EST From: Dracovixen@aol.com Subject: Re: I think you missed the point It wasn't a "cope out". No one said anything about them having no sexuality, and no one said anything about immortality. What you have are cop-outs. Our reasoning was that the vampires basically become androgynous due to a couple things: There is no need for gender roles, and procreation is entirely without sex and conception and all that. There is no question of "men" and "women" being equal or not. With no gender roles to fulfill, and procreation being on the "Kiss of Death" basically by one vampire, the whole idea of male and female becomes...unnecessary. They are simply living entities with feelings, emotions, thoughts, needs, desires, and they get what they can and give what they to each other. Just because Lestat is attracted to mortal men still having their sexualities, (and he was attracted to mortal women as well), (and another thing, it wasn't in every book), doesn't negate anything. So what? Gay people can still be attracted to straight people. The sexualities are different, but the attraction is still there. The vampires are still sexual beings, but they can be attracted to either gender. They are attracted to beauty, and personality. They are not restrained to one sex or the other, and since among their kind, the idea of gender is pointless...do you get it yet? Try reading everything a little more closely, ok? I believe the only thing I ever said was that the hormones weren't exactly there, and their organs don't exactly work the same. They still have all the feelings, and as Krod Knid pointed out, can still get wood. Black Dove ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Jan 2002 12:12:52 -0600 From: "j."
