Here is a rant that I have been building for a while now... Just for the record... Angie works for POE. She is the assisting POE and letting POE do important things like make music. I know some of you have issues with P-O-E.com but get over it. That is the official POE site. When a "meet-n-greet" contest is run through the site, that is an effort to try to organize some of the chaos from the past. Back before the Angry-Psychos (and during the Hello tour as the APs were starting), the tours were small and virtually no one had heard of POE. 6 years later things have changed. While POE isn't a mega-star yet, she there is more demand for her time than one mortal can handle. If any of you have problems with the auction, consider that right now merchandise is one of the only methods of support that the POE effort has going. With Atlantic's departure, POE is walking alone right now. Every dollar is an important contribution to her on-going attempt to make music. More important than buying the album (and letting POE get her $1.50) or paying to see her live (about $3 per person at a good show goes to the tour effort), the merchandise profits go directly to POE's operation. Think about it, there is more benefit to the performer from your purchase of a T-shirt than from buying a CD and a Concert ticket. These funds make touring possible. I know POE is as important to many of you as she is to me. When we can't be as close as we were in the past it can be frustrating. Ultimately, we have to remember what the POE experience is about. It is about wonderful music coming from an amazing woman. Very few performers can claim to have had such an intimate rapport with their fans as POE has had in the past. She has given the APs the wonderful gift of her time to the point of exhaustion over and over again. This tour, POE was smarter. She gave the APs their time in the form of the parties before the Borders tour. The Depeche Mode Tour was a chance to advance her career through exposure to a new audience. There was absolutely no times in the schedule to rest much less do anything else. The Panteen Tour came of the heels of Atlantic bailing roared across the country with a numbing pace. This time, POE also didn't do it alone. Craig was there to protect POE from herself and others. Everyone who knows POE can attest to her devotion to sign autographs until her hands tremble. The second time I met her she signed autographs at one of my shows in the rain for 2.5 hours. That is dedication that you won't see from U2 or Tool (but I digress). Craig has been wonderful in keeping POE healthy and somewhat moderated. And contrary to popular sentiment of the AP posts, Angie has also been a critical player in helping the POE operation succeed. I don't know Angie personally. I have never met her. All I know about Angie is what POE has discussed with me in the past. And based on that fact alone I am willing to put my trust in Angie. For me, it is a simple matter of faith. I know POE to be an incredibly intelligent woman. She doesn't make decisions without pondering the possibilities. POE directs her people and they in turn support her while providing the resources she needs to achieve the goal. I am told that Angie believes in the project and has worked toward making the POE project a success. Look I am not saying that she or any of us are perfect. Very few people get the chance to become rock stars. Most of them fail before they get started. Even once there is a little success, failure is always looming over the horizon. Until about a year ago, the Angry Psychos were a positive force supporting POE and encouraging her efforts. For lack of a better term, we were a cheerleading singing POE's praises. Now days, the list has reverted in a center to gripe about what is wrong with the POE universe. If things are so bad, leave. If you aren't here to support POE, leave. Go support Tool or Limp Biscuit or some other angry band that could care less about their fans (if you don't believe me, ask anyone that works for a new rock radio station). But if you still support POE, be positive about. Be constructive. The APs could have been ambassadors to world for POE. We should be out on the streets encouraging people to buy the album. We should be calling the indifferent radio stations and concert venues. With or without you, someday POE will realize her dreams. And when that day comes (and mark my words, it will), if the APs had proven to be a positive factor in the effort, I think everyone of us will have pride in that success. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Kyle T. Cobb, Jr. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jan 2002 14:41:53 EST From: BUDave18@aol.com Subject: Re: Angie Abuse!!!!!!!! Now my older sister used to manage at one here were we live. And i do have to add, that my underwear ARE the most expensive thing on my body everyday so, yes their panties and such are quite pricey. BUT...every year, they do have the one pair of panties and bra set that is called the million dollar bra & panty..i kid you not. last year was the ruby set. MY GOD, they were gorgeous, but like i said...TONS of dukkets! And i think this year was the sapphire/diamond one, not positive on that though. don't quote me. so yes, there's your MORE expensive bra and panties for you psychos! anybody got a million bones to shell out, us girls would LOVE to have one of these sets. and if anyone cares...sapphires ARE my favorite stone! marianne ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jan 2002 15:10:56 -0800 From: bash Subject: Re: NPR: Guiness Records question - most expensive pantiesever LadyMsThang@aol.com wrote: And i think this year was > the sapphire/diamond one, not positive on that though. don't quote me. so > yes, there's your MORE expensive bra and panties for you psychos! anybody > got a million bones to shell out, us girls would LOVE to have one of these > sets. and if anyone cares...sapphires ARE my favorite stone! > marianne Platinum, diamonds and pink sapphires...it was gorgeous. I got a mailing from their mailing list that says they are going to be releasing a new album come April of this year, so only a little more waiting... :) Jen "and the license said you had to stick around until I was dead... but maybe if you're tired of looking at my face, I guess I already am" LP ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jan 2002 15:55:13 -0800 (PST) From: Rachel Proud Subject: Re: Angie Abuse!!!!!!!! Nicely said. Poe is a very busy woman, and she did pick Angie to keep all this stuff together. Talk about killing the messanger. Angie is only doing what she was brought here to do. Obviously some people don't like what that is, but damn. She is only human, and people attack her like there's no face behind "Protool" If you don't like the board, then don't post. If you don't like the auction, then don't bid. But not everyone here wants to start this hostility on the list again. It's been nice without it. That would be so cool. We had really good tickets for her last tour, but with 5 Poe shows in that month too, we couldn't afford it and ended up selling the tickets. Not that I regret going to Poe over Tori, I'd do that any day. But if I had the chance to see Tori again I sure as hell would take it.
