There are a LOT of female producers and the like in the music business as well as in films. ~*~ Look into his eyes and you shall see why everything is quiet and nothing's free. Subject: Re: NPR......Books instead of movies...... Jean Genet I've never read, but he sounds interesting enough. For those of you who don't know, he's (apparently) the subject of the song "Jean Genie" by David Bowie. What I've read lately: Rereading The Hobbit/LOTR trilogy again after seeing the movie. It was definitely an amazing interpretation and the last time I'd read the books was 5 or 6 years ago. Blood and Gold by Anne Rice. Good book, but I don't like the way she's slowly retroactively making all the vampires gay. Not that I mind them being gay -- it'd have been fine if she'd made them gay in the first place. I just don't like the way she's going back and "rewriting history" if you will. Yes, I know there are all sorts of explanations and justifications for why she's doing it, or it could be argued somewhat successfully that she's always had them that way, etc, etc. That's just the way I feel, though. Bowie: Loving the Alien by Christopher Sanford. Out of print, I managed to locate a copy all the same. It's part of my collection. And finally: The 120 Days of Sodom by the Marquis de Sade. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Jan 2002 19:27:49 EST From: TerraTrepe@aol.com Subject: NPR: Valentines day I can't believe people have a problem with a day that you get free candy/flowers/cheap ass Batman cards with cheesy valantine related lines on the back. What's wrong with you people?! :) Its alright to be against it (of course), but really, I think people read too much into it. Its just for fun. Sure, its commercialism at its best too, but what the hell, if you're having fun, who cares? I'm a dork and I like making valentines cards for my friends, and getting them in return. I like how you can get really cute things for cheap after Valentines. I've never had a boyfriend during Valentines Day, and honestly, I don't care. Its just a day to enjoy. Its all good. You all take things too seriously! :) And sometimes people just need a reason to show their appreciation for another. It shouldn't have to be like that, but some people do need it. So whatever. Peace out. ~Chesney ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Jan 2002 02:58:28 +0000 From: "Vanessa Miranda" Subject: Re: vanilla sky >From: Finedragonfly7@aol.com >To: Irockedyermom@aol.com, angry-psychos@smoe.org >Subject: Re: vanilla sky Yep I liked it too. I think it was the single most confusing movie I've ever seen in my life. But that made it all the better. I also saw A Beautiful Mind which was also a really good movie. At www.p-o-e.com all you have to do is make 75 posts by the February deadline and you win or are eligible to win, I am not sure which... nor am I sure what you might win.... if anyone knows, I would be curious about that myself. There are two contests going on at bbs.poe.st. The first was announced last month. It was name the BBS for a copy of the single Wild. The board is a month old today. I will accept nominations thru Monday at 5:00 PM Pacific time. I will then post the winners and any name that gets greater then 50% of the vote wins. If none gets more then 50% there will be a runoff between the top two vote getters. The contest that started tonight sounds like a joke but is serious. The three winners will be drawn at random from the correct answers to those who guess what the winners who post 75 messages on p-o-e.com will get. This contest will run till the answer is posted on p-o-e.com. At that time all correct answers submitters will be drawn out of a had and the three chosen will get copies of the Hey Pretty promo single. You must post your response on bbs.poe.st, but you do not have to be a member. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Jan 2002 01:28:15 EST From: LivTheMdns@aol.com Subject: NPR Re: Valentines Day I choo choo choose you.
