Oh my, I'm all for a boycott. I've always hated Valentine's Day. Although I am a single chica and damn proud of it, I've always hated Valentine's Day, even with the rare occasion that I'm with someone when that day rolls around. I once had this bf who was all big on it, and made this huge fuss over it, and I just kind of blew it off...I think he got insulted, lol. Maybe that accounts for the fact that we're no longer together. On another note, I'm not really big on any holidays except Halloween (a holiday where you get to be someone else? It's brilliant!). I despise Christmas, Easter makes me want to crawl into a hole, and I want to throw things at people during Thanksgiving. Damn...no wonder I'm an atheist. The only reason the female dominated "machine" was set up was to show the men how wrong htey were. Talking and logical explanation never worked, so they tried putting their money where their mouths were, and the plan worked. If men and male record execs don't change, well, at least they can't hide behind the "women aren't commercially viable" excuse anymore. > Sexism is WRONG. It is wrong for men to lock out women....it is also wrong > for women to lock out men. Oh I suppose you could make the entitlement > argument, but a man or woman of principal would reject that argument and say > if it is wrong for men to do to women, it is equally wrong for women to do to > men. - --> I agree with you totally. You saeem to assume that I wouldn't because I am a woman. > Poe has chosen to stand up! As for Lilith ... it made a lot of MEN a lot of > money. The women played on. - --> That was the POINT, Dan. Men control contracts. If they believe women can't make them money, they won't sign and book female artists. Lilith's Fair proved that they could, and so they will sign and book more female artists. Logically speaking. That was the ultimate goal. Poe is not a martyr. It's all fine and good to be all about the music, but you have to be about business too, or your music may not be heard by a large audience. I think many music fans are very naive. THey want their favorite artists to remain pure as well as artistically and socially relevant, but they also want them to be popular mainstream. Unfortunately, those two things don't always mesh. And when they do, it often takes a lot of time and hard work, not to mention committment. ANd maybe NOT intentionally burninig bridges.
