P.M.B 1122 Lagos. Attn:President/Ceo. STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL BUSINESS PROPOSAL RE: TRANSFER OF US$21.5 MILLION (TWENTY ONE MILLION, FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND US DOLLARS ONLY). ...................etc. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> If any of you get this crock of shit in your e-mail, make sure you don't respond to it...also forward it to the TOS people at your e-mail server. In case you aren't already aware of it, Nigeria is the world capitol of credit card fraud and other similar scams. It isn't really the people who live there, it is international money laundering, bank fraud people (many actually living in New York Metro area or other major cities of the USA) who use Nigeria the way they use The Cayman Islands, et al, to launder their dirty scams. If these suckers get ahold of your credit info they will drain your bank account till a stop is put to it, then use your ID to prurchase electronic equipment, cars, etc and sell it on the black market for cash. Then, after you spend weeks trying to get your credit cleaned up and your ass covered, they will do it all over again. They are harder to get rid of than cockroaches...even after you change ALL your data. Some people have been forced to change their names and move to different cities and get new jobs to get rid of these assholes, only to have them show up again in 6 months. Their scams range from simple credit card theft to internet cons like this one...with all manner of simpler stings in between...and they prey on ANYONE, even if you are poor. The things they all seem to have in common is trying anything to get a person's credit card ID, password, and other bank info...and Nigeria being involved some way or other...somethimes they are even able to crack bank computer systems and wreak havoc. Anyway, I am posting this because this is about the third or fourth time I have seen this particular con getting bulk mailed, and I wouldn't want any of you to get suckered by it...some of you are damned gullible. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Jan 2002 13:05:55 -0600 From: Matthew and Manda Harris Subject: Re: NPR/NRR if you get this "modest proposal" Yep. I got this email sent to my yahoo account. Now why would someone want a business deal like that to be done through a web based email application anyway!?!?!?!:) I quickly deleted it, but unfortunately with Yahoo or Hotmail, the TOS people aren't always willing to do very much. Good luck to all and stay away from these folks!!! I just came across a U.S. release (finally!) at HMV.com, it's supposed to street Jan 29. Also, the 3 Bjork DVDs (Live at Shepherd's Bush, Live at Cambridge, and MTV Unplugged/Live and Loud) that have been only available in R2 are dated for a February release. Just a note to anybody interested. I wonder why they decided to release in Canada but not the U.S But I for one can't wait to pick them up - I had been considering purchasing a Malata region-free player just to get them.
