The Portland show was the best I have seen Poe do. The first time I saw her live was Big Stink 1 back in '95 I think. She has always had a certain connection with her crowd. The sensation at the Aladdin was positively electric. TOE was a great opening act! On the hello tour Poe had 2 bands open for her here in Portland, Pure and Glass Chunk. They still fight for the number one spot on my "worst bands ever" list. That was a night of contrasts because after those guys got finished stinking up the stage Poe came on and blew the place out! Well its a few years later and just when I thought the best couldn't get any better Poe takes the stage and lays that notion to waste. The Aladdin concert was pure bliss. It looked like Poe, Ziggy and the gang were having as much fun playing as we were listening. She dedicated Fly Away to George Harrison and played a medley in his honor through the middle of the song. I can't remember the name of her keyboardist but he conveyed soooo much emotion in the solos that he played. Poe's group as a whole was very tight. I can't think about the concert without smiling. Thanks again Poe for another unforgettable night! -Alex *Anticipating the next album and the tour that will follow* Buy the perfect holiday gifts at Yahoo! I won't bother with details that can be found on the AP site. Look 'em up if you want. But I simply had to share what was one of the highlights of my live music experience; so here goes... What a show. I just saw Poe and the band at the Aladdin Theater in Portland Monday night. I doubt I'll ever be witness to such an intimate and high-energy performance as that again -- unless, of course, I get to see Poe again. I understand it was the last show of the tour. Some of the hilights for me: * Poe's incredible energy and dedication to her music and fans. * Her incredibly strong and beautiful voice. * The graceful movements of her arms and body -- often bracketed with high jumps and kicks when she wasn't dragging the bass player around by the hair 8^O * The people she pulled up on stage. * The body surfing she did. * The nearly two-hour set. * Making her way through the audience and up to the balcony of the 600-seat venue while singing and letting others sing. * The guy who she invited up there who claimed to know the whole monologue that her brother did on Hey Pretty -- and actually did (she was blown away and really seemed honored and impressed: He "rocked her world") The opening act, Think of England, was also very good. Libby has a great voice and her songwriting is impressive. Many more Good Career Things will hopefully come her way. I think the premise of the Pantene-PRO Voice Tour is excellent, too. What a great way to promote and support talented female artists. She is a goddess and a beautiful person in so many ways. Up until a couple months ago I didn't even know Poe existed. I enjoy a very wide range of music and somehow never caught wind of her. What a shame I've missed out on so much already. If it weren't for the half-page article in MacAddict magazine a couple months ago with some quotes from her regarding the creation of Haunted on a Mac, I would probably have gone on unenlightened. Thanks for receiving me into this vital community and...Thank You Poe! Bill ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2001 20:35:56 EST From: DieFeuerBombe@aol.com Subject: Re: Hello Welcome!
