I hope that even with your busy schedule that you will have time to stop by from time to time. I think that you will find that your explanation of what is happening and why will be VERY well accepted and appreciated. Please do not be surprised, and consider the thoughts and feelings behind any criticism that you may end up reading in the responses to your post. I think you will find that most have to do with respect and communication. We (especially myself) have worked hard to show Angie and Craig the respect they deserve the last few weeks. In Craig's case that respect has been returned. Unfortunately that has not been the case with Angie. This breakdown in respect and communication is easily correctable and I think that you will find that the Angry Psychos have always been and will continue to be willing to work with everyone on the Poe team. While the bridges have not been totally burned they certainly are scary looking cinders, but with all of us pulling in the same direction we can rebuild it. NOBODY on this list, including myself, has ever refused to work with Angie, Craig, or anyone in the Poe camp. To the contrary the Poe camp had withdrawn from us and the key communicator has ceased communicating completely except with links to a website that many of us have no access to due to registration problems with the site or in private phone calls and email with a chosen few. I would like to make two suggestions: 1. Please have Angie pick an AP that she gets along with and feels she can communicate with and coordinate her efforts with that person. Brendles (Brenda Ball) in Dallas is the Angry Psycho's Southwestern coordinator and is on the Angry Psycho's Board of Directors. I would suggest that the set up a weekly briefing and Brenda could then post the releasable results to the AP list. Obviously it would be fine if Angie would post them directly, but she has been refusing repeated requests to do so. If she does not want to work with the Angry Psychos for some reason perhaps she could pass the information to Aziyn who could post it to the Nettwerk Poe Mailing List, like he does for Sarah, Barenaked Ladies, and your other artists. We could then link those reports into the Angry Psycho list. 2. As for the unlicensed merchandise with Poe's likeness: Nettwerk Management does not offer and is not authorized to offer Angry Psycho merchandise Please review your September 6th email requesting that certain goods be licensed to the Angry Psychos to sell at our websites and events. The royalties that would be generated from the sale of these items, as well as ( if you like) Nettwerk Merchandise would add funds that Poe would be able to use. Rather then asking us to stop making Angry Psycho shirts with Poe's likeness, would it not make more sense to license her image to us in an acceptable form and profit from the sale of those shirts? There WILL be Angry Psycho shirts with or without Poe's likeness, doesn't it make more sense to use that market? Finally, on behalf of ALL the Angry Psychos, I would like to note the obvious effort that Craig is putting into working with us. He has completely turned his reputation around on the list. He still has a hard job to do, but he is starting to do it with style and, reportedly, even an occasional smile! Such kindness does not go unnoticed. Please pass our collective thanks to him, though it may not seem like it at times we DO appreciate the difficulty of his job. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 16:35:32 -0600 From: Matthew and Manda Harris Subject: Re: Speak of Think of England.... I feel terribly lucky that this was my first Poe show, and it rocked my socks off. My boyfriend, Jake, and I were the (very quiet) APs with the nameless name tags (he's 6'5", though.. I know no one missed him ^^;) near the front of the stage.. maybe 3-4 rows back. The Miyagi's meet was pretty cool.. again, sorry that I was so anti-social. I'm not really used to being out around people that I don't really know, and it retards my social/conversational skills to that of a sulking 12 year old boy. I suck. >< A million thumbs up to Kyle, though.. for now I know what a spider roll is (I usually stick to the vegetarian sushi ^^;). I hope your ride back to Arizona was a comfortable one. Next AP meet, I promise that I'll have more practice being conversational. I probably should have said something prior, I don't want anyone thinking that I was avoiding them, etc. Now on to the show. Think of England was much better than I expected, though I'm not sure right now what I expected, exactly. It seems that this tour will help them grow as a band greatly, and I think that's one of the biggest things that they need.. growth and experience. I'm really looking forward to them getting signed.. with this fabulous Poe tour, how could they NOT end this tour with a million offers? If the AP record label ever gets off the ground, maybe we could sign them. ;p Like everyone else, I found Poe to be absolutely amazing. When others posted recently about how gorgeous Poe was in person, I really took the statement with a grain of salt, but it's true. I spent the first half of the first song, Hello, just being awestruck. Poe's place is really being on the stage, she seemed like she was having more fun than anyone in the audience.. and that's an extremely hard task. I've been to a lot of really great shows in my day, but none of them come close to this one. She's really working her ass off (understatement).. completely giving 300% to the crowd.. when she finishes this tour, she's gonna need one hell of a nap. Siggy makes some of the greatest faces while playing the bass that I've ever seen.. boy do I wish I had brought a camera. Those were some amazingly cool faces, he seemed like he was having a blast. Now, I guess I'm going to complain a little, even though this was one of the greatest nights of my life. These are grievances that apply to any club show, really.. Even though I was pretty close to the front, very tall people insisted on standing directly in front of me, blocking my view in just about all directions. I'm only 5'3, and it sucks when people don't realize that they're ruining a show for you. I'm too nice (timid, scared?) to tap them on the shoulder and ask them to move or to shrink. It's just frustrating. ^^; Yes, I know that Jake's 6'5.. he feels awful about being so tall.. and he's ashamed at the fact that he's probably ruining someone else's show.. so what should he do? go to the back of the club? go to the side of the stage? he doesn't know and neither do I. Maybe I should just buy a very comfortable pair of platforms (oxymoron? probably..) and shut the hell up already. As I said before, I was fairly close to the front, we had gotten there pretty early and like everyone else, had to stand around for a good (standing around with nothing to do is never good) hour before the TOE sound check. We 'earned' our pretty place near-ish the stage. So, why is it that people feel it's okay to weasel their way up to the front in the middle of a band's set just so they can try to get to the very front? It's not cool. Get there earlier like everyone else did. To add injury to insult, two of the girls that weaseled their way to directly in front of me insisted on swinging their arms around in such a way that my breasts got introduced to their elbows several times. If I hadn't been wearing a semi-padded bra.. oh man.. they would have gotten it. Again, I'm too shy, etc. to tap them on the shoulder and tell them to piss off or just stop being so rude. It's funny though, I'm still running on punk show etiquette, I thought to myself several times that I should just shove them away like I would have at any respectable punk show. But, this is Poe, and everyone's nice.. so that's a big no-no. ;p Last thing.. I had no idea on where to meet up with Poe. I saw a group of people with wristbands that were going upstairs after the show, and they all had AP stickers on.. so did APs get wristbands, and I was just out of the loop or something? Sorry to sound so ungrateful, but I was hoping that I would be able to see her for a second after the show.. everyone has their after-show stories, and I wanted one of my own. There's always next time, though.. I just realized that the complaint part is bigger than the show report, if you can call it that. Sorry ^^;; I would have written more on how rockin the show was, but I'd really just be repeating what everyone else is saying.. APs.. TOE.. Poe.. you guys all rock my world! - -miharu ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 20:32:13 EST From: JaunasAddiccion@aol.com Subject: RE: NPR George Harrison has died that kinda sucks. i say kinda instead of really cause i'm not a big fan of his work, although the amount of influence the beatles had over music today is undeniable. nearly everyone has heard at least one song by the beatles and from that they have probably formed their opinion of the band, be it positive, negative or neutral. i remain neutral, not because it's so comfortable to sit on this fence, just because i don't hate the beatles, i just don't love them either. my mom used to listen to them all the time when i was a kid, when we were driving, at least - when we were at home it was elvis, thereby denying any validity to quentin tarantino's idea that someone's being a beatles fan or an elvis fan shapes their entire attitue and life. any way, i digress (i think). recently the song 'tomorrow never knows' has been occurring with some frequency...dj mixes i've heard it sampled, if not played in its entirety in, open mic night at a few coffee houses have also led me to the suspicion that the song is stalking me. the band live has also been performing an acoustic version of 'imagine' on their most recent tour, and that was the show stopper here in detroit a month ago. i forgot my point completely, but you're still going to read this anyway because you cannot deny the power of the beatles. trust me. i do indeed have to extend my sympathy to the loved ones of mr. harrison (i've never met the man, it just feels wierd to call him 'george') "sometimes life deals you a bad hand, and sometimes it lets you trade in a few cards to (hopefully) make it a better hand. but other times, it just takes your chips and walks away" - ---dan in michigan PS: we got a lot of rain today, but still no snow. what do i have to do here, sell my soul for some snowboarding weather?1?!?!? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 20:38:10 EST From: LiveThruThisVow@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR George Harrison has died In a message dated 11/30/01 7:33:50 PM Central Standard Time, JaunasAddiccion@aol.com writes: > 'tomorrow never knows' has been occurring with some frequency...dj mixes > i've heard it sampled, if not played in its entirety in, open mic night at > a few coffee houses have also led me to the suspicion that the song is > stalking me. First time I heard Poe was on a mix tape my friend's girlfriend made for him. He played "Dolphin" and "Walk the Walk" and I have been hers to command ever since. I'm a graphic designer and a songwriter and an actor and a filmmaker and a truck loader for UPS; I'm on the rescue squad and I can do a half-decent job of dancing to swing music. I've been some other things, too, in small bursts--like a recording engineer, crew member for concerts (glad to hear everyone finally rooting for Craig!), star receiver for neighborhood football games, and novel/magazine editor. Right now my all-consuming obsession is the independent film my brother and I are making. We wrote it and produced it and filmed it all by ourselves here in Virginia for under $10,000, even though it's a full-length feature movie with nearly 100 actors and an insane number of locations, visual effects, stunts, and technical requirements. Basically, what Poe and Olle did with Haunted--sitting over a computer with ProTools making it all by hand piece by piece--we're doing with a movie. I know first-hand what kind of torturous work went into Haunted, and let me tell you, it's a work of bloody genius. Thank God for computers, damn 'em all to hell. I'm too lazy right now to really check. ;p - -miharu ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 23:06:00 EST From: JaunasAddiccion@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR: MP3/CD players i know all this, but i'm very broke right now my actuall thought was to get this as a substitute UNTIL they are made available to me. trust me, i LOVE md, but they're just too expensive for me right now, i've been thinking about jsut saving up for a few months, but it's past the point of being able to do that....my md playter SKIPS! BTW: i have a 5-disc MD changer at my apartment that i'm NEVER selling. it's not sony, but it's still wonderful and I love every minute of it - --dan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 21:15:40 -0700 From: "Rosa W." Subject: 11/29 show and such Hey everyone, I'm back in Utah, just barely got to my house actually, I just have to say that the show rocked!! and it was awesome to meet all of you!! BTW, Thanks Mike, You are a lifesaver, you will always have a place in my heart. Sigue signed my chest.... haha, I asked him to sign my shirt, and he said "no, tit." so I got him to sign my shirt first then he signed my chest, then the old bass player wanted to sign me too, so he wrote ALL over my stomach. kinda made me mad, but he was drunk, so I won't hold it against him! Thanks to Sandra-D (for the ride from the airport, I so owe you!). I felt like I was at home when I was out there. When I got back to utah, I missed you all so much! you all kick ass!! keep in touch! A GForce3...talk about overkill! Way cool. There was an issue with Creative Labs - Soundblaster "Live Edition" series soundcards having some kind of glitch with Athlons...but they fixed it already. If you happen to experience any irregularities with the sound, go to Creative Labs and there is probably a fix you can download. The Live Edition has a flash PROM onboard so they can be upgraded right from the internet. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Dec 2001 01:23:39 EST From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Re: LA Show In a message dated 11/30/2001 8:09:37 PM Eastern Standard Time, miharu@shoujorobot.com writes: > Siggy makes some of the greatest faces while playing the bass that I've > ever seen.. > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > Hah...I found a place in one of the backstage halls at Bogart's where Siggy signed the wall:-) It said "Siggy was here". ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V6 #538 ***********************************
