So some of you guys who may have already read it don't have to go through it again, I dumped it in another e-mail instead of putting it all together. I'll fix it for ap.com or something eventually. The Sleepy Poe package has been delivered. Angie arrived carrying a basket filled to the brim with stuff. This guy was carrying it to the bus after the show and dropped two of Tony's videotapes, aaaaack. It was pouring rain the entire time before and after the show and the ground the tapes fell on was wet. But Tony sent me a tape before that was water damaged so hopefully they're OK. The tour bus is green. Think of England got a dark pink Pantene Pro-Voice tour van. Hello hello to Bea, Molly, and the guy who had an AP flyer we had dropped off at Tower who was one of the last people to get stuff signed from Poe at the club afterward ;D And of course *thank you Ben* for driving!! We gave Daris a set of red and green sharpies with a Poe wreath taped to it to give to Poe for the holiday. I asked her at the club if she got them, and she said yes and she signed many things with them but they were gone, so other people had eaten them this time around. Ben had a black sharpie, which she almost ate but he remembered to get it back. Not before she had bent the pocket clip *again* though!!! So now he is starting a collection, that one along with the red one she bent that Bea gave to us for the DM show in August. Poe signed Ben's arm with the black sharpie at the club. There were tattoo places around the venue and we said before the show it would be convenient to get Poe's autograph, get it tattooed and have it for the show. We dropped off flyers at Tower before Poe's soundcheck, like at 3:30-4:00 or so. I had added the SF and Orangevale/Sacramento info to it. Glad at least one person got ahold of it before the show, better nearly too late than never. I hope nobody gets mucked up because I put Sac instead of Orangevale. I really wish I was going today... The bus driver hadn't slept in two days, having driven from Dallas. Plus he still has a long way to go up and down and up and down the west coast senselessly. Hasn't seen the show or heard Poe's music either. Poor guy. The t-shirt girl I have seen many complaints about was nice to us. She was eating take-out with Titus before the show. Kyl, I wore the Poe jacket and had many people admiring it! The trout was puzzled over also. And I got all the band signatures on it plus the sound guy, so now it is very full. I also was handing out my Poe wreath which Ben and I had printed out to the tables. http://members.aol.com/vr5sbloom/misc/poewreath.gif This one woman Shelia who designs stage sets stopped me and wanted the jacket of course...talking and asking what Poe was like, and asked us/me what we were doing after the show. Uh, OK! We said going home because we didn't know about the afterparty at that point. She wanted an autograph so I was like OK I'll try, and she gave me the Bimbo's show card and wrote a note to Poe asking her to sign on her picture. I did get it signed at the club but uhh I didn't get her address so I can't mail it to her. The wreath has my e-mail address but I haven't gotten any weird fan mail yet. ;P Before Angry Johnny she asked as normal if there was anyone named John there tonight, and someone said something and she repeated what she thought he said: "No, but you will be?!" She then talked about how she tried to get her name changed when she was 14 but there was too much stuff to deal with. Plus they wanted to know all about any past criminal record. Er...she was 14! She ended up not legally changing it. Bonking TZD's heads triggered different sound clips of her father. At the end of the first encore was the sound clip of "It's OK, you can go now" twice. Some people left. Too bad for them. Always wait for the house lights to come up! I would have rather heard Not A Virgin over That Day, that was my only want for the set list. Just isn't the same without the cello, and it works better when Poe's pissed anyway. She was having way too much fun last night to be angry during the song. TOE and Poe shared the same sound guy, Gary I think. It was interesting to watch him work. He was recording the show using minidisc. There was a note on the sound board that said Limit is 106 decibles. I handed him a Poe wreath and he put it at the top of the board. I gave Nate, Daris and Sigve Poe wreaths too. TOE went 8-8:45 and Poe went on 9:15-almost 11 I think. Didn't look at my watch at the end, but 5 1/2 Minute Hallway was on at like 10:40 and there was a long pause before the second encore. There was no post meeting, instead we were all invited to the club. For those of you who I've talked to, no, I didn't talk to her about list poelitics. I'm upset about it and didn't want to ruin the night. She was wearing a blue tank top with a shimmery collar and I don't remember her pants, black I think. Knew I should have written it down. For the first song she was wearing a light coat and then took it off, at the club she had her white feathery coat. At the club I could see she was wearing that black necklace/choker with one word printed on it...I don't remember what it said, because I know the pic is online someplace and I could just look it up and not have to stare at her neck right then. But I don't know where that pic is right now. ::P Anyway, she had written something and attached it to her shirt, and while she was dancing around I stopped her and asked what it said. It said Problem. I asked why? she said I don't know, I'm the problem. I said yes you are, you are keeping me from waking up early in the morning tomorrow! (Actually, I had taken the day off work, but I still had to get up a bit early for stuff.) At the club I trouted Poe quite thouroughly. She said I love you even though you always hit me. I also trouted Craig's visor, ha ha! But then I had him sign it. He was nice to us all day. Yay! Every time he walked by after the show in the rain I kept saying this is the point where Craig tells us she's going to LA tomorrow and won't meet us. Glad that didn't happen. I don't know if that's normal for the venue, if Poe asked for an exception, or if it was because it was raining. Soundcheck: Beautiful Girl Control A bit of a rap session by Nate (drummer) and Drew (keyboardist) (something like that) Wild - when they finished the main part there was a lot of discussion before launching into the rave part I think I left something out or got it out of order, but it was pouring rain so I didn't take notes. Wasn't around for TOE's soundcheck, we were soaked and wouldn't have known any of their songs yet anyway. I have TOE's set list written down, but my friend was the one who wrote it and I can't make any sense of it. Maybe I'll post it later. Hello Choking The Cherry Beautiful Girl Dolphin Stage dive didn't go far - she jumped on the stage left/audience right side of the stage, flipped over but then immediately surfed back to the stage The Hello songs all sounded very much more like the album versions in terms of vocals. In 1996 she was adding in a lot of Ohs and stuff in places...none of them at all tonight. Don't know if that's been the case at other shows, my friend mentioned to me that since it's the end of the tour and her voice is going she will not be doing many high notes. Her voice was very good tonight though, much more in control of it than when she is doing radio appearances. I have Hey Pretty written but scratched out here, don't remember why...so there might be another song right here missing Hey Pretty "I think you know it's you they're falling for" - points at the whole audience Walk The Walk After the first "pleased to meet you" she goes around shaking hands with the front row Trigger Happy Jack Drags Sigve around during the chorus, I think, my note just says go-go Nate was walking around, getting drumsticks and waving them around threateningly during the "and I hate myself" part while he wasn't playing When Poe sang "and he spins around" Siggy spun around Angry Johnny Haunted When she ran out into the audience I slapped her right shoulder. I did not think to have trout in hand when I did. Fixed that later. Fly Away Wild - we got the rave part attached to this one, where it rightfully belongs. Disco ball and "strobe" lights kicking in Control 5 1/2 Minute Hallway More disco ball for 5 1/2...not entirely sure when they started it That Day She stopped completely a little bit after the band kicked in and said to Daris (the guitarist) Do you know the chords to this?! They managed to finish up and Poe said it was the most fun show she's done on the tour. Yeah, I'm sure she'll be saying that every night now til the end. Afterward Poe invited everyone she met and told Craig to tell everyone else to hang out with her at a club called Ruby Skye to listen to a remix of Haunted. This guy was telling us how he's never been in there and there was a dress code, no jeans. But for this all you had to do was say you're with Poe and show ID. Cool. I don't know how to count a crowd but I'd say there were about 25 people there plus Craig, Poe, Sigve, and Angie. Poe stayed for about an hour, signing and dancing for everyone, and then left with Craig a little while after the remix was played. I wanted to see Craig dancing, nope, but we got a huge smile from him when we thanked him for telling us to go to the club. Rather than asking about the new mix, I asked what happened to the Chris Vrenna mix. She said it was a horrible, horrible awful piece of crap and made a throwing up motion. Um, so I know that doesn't really help much with a description so maybe mpc3000 can shed a little more light on it. They didn't have cash to tip the valet when they left, so I paid for it and Poe signed one of those religious publications people hand out for $ for this guy who didn't know who she was. She wrote JAMES RULES on it and stuff and he was waving it around forever. We stood around talking for a bit, it had finally stopped raining, then we were asked to stop standing around the club entrance and we went home. - --Michele http://www.shellE.org/ Home of PsYcHovixen, Poe documents (including the Poe discography), Garbage and Poe trading, eXej, 12 Rounds, Mono, and Exploration Z: A Haunted House Of Leaves Alternate Universe ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 10:31:50 +0000 (GMT) From: Cyberfan Corporation Subject: NPR: So tonight my perspectvie on life has grown. In august she fell all over herself apologizing for not calling me and getting together with the APs before the show... after they'd had a terrable weekend and hadn't even been able to shower for 2 days. I found that really amazing... she was apologizing for not calling me - a total newbie fan !! (i'm not bragging, i'm trying to make a point that she basically just wants to hug everyone and be nice to them) i think we can all learn from this - we need to be nice to craig and angie, and hope that they take the time to be nice to us. we need to recoginze that they're trying to do their jobs to protect and promote our favorate artist (god, i hope my spell checker can fix all these typos) and it would be really cool if they would recognize that we're the kind of loyal fan base they can capatolize on... we're willing to stand on street corners handing out flyers... in the rain, we're willing to follow poe around and go to every show, to spam radio stations to get songs played, etc. jm2c. ben "be execellent to each other" ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 03:24:09 -0800 (PST) From: ben Subject: Re: In Writing Please: hi angie... as a random AP, i'd like to express ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 11:48:56 EST From: AZTECLADY007@aol.com Subject: KPR: ROXY SHOW: Think Of England OMG!! Firstly, it has been great working with Poe over the last few months. Those of you who know her, can appreciate what a cool person she is (I am not just saying that for her to see). Additionally in our opinion, one astounding attribute is her amazing fanbase. She genuinely loves her supporters (and you love her back by continually showing up and offering to help). I wanted to fully explain who everyone is: *Angie works directly for Poe (like us). She is extremely devoted, extremely nice, and extremely informed. She is definitely the person who can best field and coordinate everything that is going on with Poe's supporters everywhere. It's best that one individual be the point person; that's why Poe has enlisted her help. Any requests should be directed to her: MWW 4104 24th Street, #524 San Francisco, CA 94114-3615 Fax: 605-238-3655 *Pierre, Patrick & Aziyn work for Nettwerk Management. Some of you may know Nettwerk Records;this is an independent label associated with the company, but separate. Artist management companies are small in nature. Most of our clients have been with us since the earlier days of their beginnings (Sarah McLachlan, Dido, Barenaked Ladies, Coldplay, Sum 41, various music producers and some other artists). Having our own small label helps us in promotion of the artist alongside the artist's label; mostly with radio. For instance, on this tour, we have been in contact with all the local promoters setting up ticket giveaways with radio stations that have supported Poe in the past. This helps to promote the shows, etc. We go to some shows, but don't go on the road. *Paul Fishkin (owns Fishkin Entertainment) , the label that Poe has always been and continues to be signed to. Fishkin Entertainment had a distribution deal with Atlantic Records for a number of years. This Distribution deal is the agreement which Atlantic and Fishkin have dissolved mutually. We are extremely excited about this turn of events which has put us in a position to negotiate a much better distribution deal in the future for both Poe and Fishkin. As you all know, Poe has never really received the corporate support we feel she deserves. It appears that now she will finally be in a position to get that support. *Craig is the road manager. There is no harder job than this; everyone pulling at you at the same time;fans, band, crew, artist, management, label, everyone! Poe has a great crew out with her right now. Please be nice. Obviously, Poe needs to bust ass on this tour. She needs to make money to live. That's why we don't want anything out there that is not approved; either merchandise, or items with her likeness. Poe's crew, Nettwerk, and others have been seeing it at the shows, on Ebay, etc. It happens, but it is really uncool to the artist. We want everyone to just go to the shows, have an amazing time and buy Poe's merchandise if you like it:) Poe, her band and her crew have achieved the impossible on an an unthinkably small budget. They are giving everything with all their hearts. We hope you will enjoy this wonderful project as much as we do! In the end this is all about the music and that as you well know is the most valuable thing Poe can give to all of us. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 14:43:05 -0500 From: "sp00k@poe.org" Subject: George Harrison has died. NPR Former Beatle George Harrison, singer, songwriter and guitarist for one of the world's most famous pop groups, has died after losing his battle against cancer. Harrison died on Thursday at a friend's Los Angeles home, at 1330 local time, according to his longtime friend Gavin De Becker. http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/entertainment/music/newsid_1492000/1492446.stm Fans have laid flowers at his statue in Liverpool "He died with one thought in mind - love one another," De Becker said. De Becker said Harrison's wife Olivia and son Dhani, 24, were both with him when he died. Harrison's family issued a statement saying: "He left this world as he lived in it, conscious of God, fearless of death, and at peace, surrounded by family and friends. "He often said, 'Everything else can wait but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another'." Harrison was the youngest Beatle Fans have been laying floral tributes outside the Abbey Road recording studios in London, where the Beatles recorded almost all their work, at his Friar Park home in Henley-on-Thames and outside the Cavern Club in Liverpool. In New York, fans began gathering before dawn at Strawberry Fields, an area of Central Park named after the Beatles song in the wake of John Lennon's murder in 1980. God give him peace Sir George Martin A book of condolence has been opened for Harrison at Liverpool Town Hall, where official flags are being flown at half-mast. The city council has announced that there will be a memorial service for the former Beatle, but no date has been set. A council spokesman said that the family's wishes would be taken into account before deciding the form of any memorial. The Coldstream Guards band played a tribute Beatles medley during the Changing The Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Tributes from fans outside Abbey Road studios And mayor of Henley Tony Laine said the town was flying a flag at half mast. Speaking outside his home in St John's Wood, north west London, Sir Paul McCartney said: "I am devastated and very very sad. "We knew he'd been ill for a long time. He was a lovely guy and a very brave man and had a wonderful sense of humour. "He is really just my baby brother." "I loved him very much and I will miss him greatly. Ringo Starr, speaking from Vancouver, Canada said: "We will miss George for his sense of love, his sense of music and his sense of laughter." 'Wisdom' John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, said: "My deep love and concern goes to Olivia and Dhani." Thank you George, it was grand knowing you Yoko Ono "The three of them were the closest, most loving family you can imagine. "George has given so much to us in his lifetime and continues to do so even after his passing, with his music, his wit and his wisdom. "Thank you George, it was grand knowing you." Buckingham Palace said Queen Elizabeth was "very sad to hear of the death of George Harrison". Prime Minister Tony Blair said: "People of my generation grew up with the Beatles, and they were the background to our lives. Harrison married his second wife Olivia in 1978 "He wasn't just a great musician, an artist, but did a lot of work for charity as well. He'll be greatly missed around the world." 'Courage' Beatles producer Sir George Martin described Harrison as "caring deeply for those he loved". "Olivia and Dhani have borne his illness with enormous courage and devotion," he said. "Now I believe, as he did, that he has entered a higher state. God give him peace." Harrison, who was 58, announced in July he had received treatment in Switzerland for a tumour. He also had surgery for lung cancer in May. The Beatles: Achieved unprecedented fame Harrison's life was also threatened when he was stabbed by an intruder at his home in at Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire in 1999. The former Beatle, who met his fellow band members John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr where they grew up in Liverpool, was just 27 when the band split in 1970. They managed to conquer the world musically, achieving 27 number one records in the UK and the US during their career. Their most recent album, compiling all their number one hits, called 1, topped both the UK and the US charts during 2000. Films George was the first Beatle to enjoy solo success Harrison's post-Beatles career started with the critically acclaimed solo album All Things Must Pass. His role as a film producer took off when he worked on Monty Python's Life of Brian in 1979. He was also responsible for The Long Good Friday, Time Bandits and Mona Lisa. In the 1980s Harrison teamed up with Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison as The Travelling Wilburys. sp00k etc ... NPR thanks for the info spook. i was just wondering why i hadn't heard anything about it... seems strange that one of the Beatles has passed and not a mention of it anywhere. maybe i just didn't look. anyway, this is a very sad event. harrison was an awesome musician. the fact that he was a Beatle doesn't even begin to show the magnitude of his influence on many musicians now. he will be truly missed. - -reg ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 13:41:33 -0800 (PST) From: Uhura Bisa Jones Subject: Re: PR-Letter From Nettwerk First, thank you for explaining what exactly is going on. Secondly, I don't have a problem with what Angie said, but with her delivery. She basically talked down to us like we were nothing but children, and many of the APs feel that she does not acknowledge who we are, what we do, or what we are capable of. We are not your every day fair weather fans. We are the Angry Psychos, and we demand respect for all of the efforts we have made for Poe and the promotion of Poe. Angie basically showed up as an outsider and through her posts spoke authoritatively to the APs without anyone knowing who she was and where she came from. She is not, and never will be our boss. She does not *tell* us what to do, when to do it, how, where, or why. Furthermore, she seemed to usurp the knowledgeable and loyal APs who have always disseminated information about Poe and from Poe. From my point of view, it seemed that she was more interested in promoting herself than working with this amazing and unique resource she has access to, and took for granted that we would bow down to her because she gets paid to work with Poe. She still has to *earn* our respect, just like everyone else. She should have ASKED for our assistance and collaboration, seeing as we both (presumably) want the same thing: for Poe to be successful. Instead, I got the vibe of receiving "orders". In a nutshell, if Angie had given the "no more unofficial merchandise" explanation in the tone and completeness that you did, there would have never been a problem. For someone who is in public relations, it seems that she could stand a few more courses in professional communication. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Uhura Jones Bellingham WA g force wrote: >>Obviously, Poe needs to bust ass on this tour. She needs to make money to >live.
