I was on the beta list and got a few pre- release copies, that kind of ran alright, with the expected bugs. When the final came out, I put off installing it cause I didn't have time. Finally I got around to it recently and dropped a nice fresh install on my machine and watched it screw up from the start: 1. My 3com card (3c905B) was detected, but XP said the network cable was "unplugged" which I assure you it wasnt as I had used the network on 2k before starting the install 2. It was ungodly slow on my machine. 3-4minute boot times!! And a good 45-60 seconds just to browse through the ugly start menu. Mind you this was after tweaking graphics settings, etc. My roomate believes it didn't recognize my processor (a PII-450) correctly.. Who knows.. 3. Only one good thing came of XP, I was able to switch back to 2k in seconds by swapping the ld harddrive back in. :) More and more I'm leaning towards linux everyday. Especially with the amount of Microsoft Monopoly that XP is poushing. Hell no, I don't want to sign up for .NET I already told you that 6 times. If there's anyone going to a show who has a reasonbly quick connection and doesn't mind losing the cost of a CD-R...would you be kind enough to visit my mp3.com/easterbradford site and download my songs (u can skip over the instrumental versions, "Blue" and the comedy bit...) and put them on a CD-R to give to Poe with my email? I know she'll never drop me a line, but it's important to me that she know how her creating has inspired me to create and I just really would love to know she had a chance to hear what I do. Wow! I'm on a total Poe high now. Two shows in two nights, with a third to come on Monday! The "mad psychos" (as dubbed by the Bennigan's wait staff) at the preshow were just as fun and friendly as the Houston crew (I see a trend developing), and I'm so thrilled to have met all the pre-show attendees - Kelli, Kerry (soundcheck winner...way to go, girlie!!!), Mark, Dave, Guz, Laura, Kasey, and repeats Mike and Jennifer! The Austin venue is probably one of the smallest venues Poe will ever play (I think cap. was 340 for upstairs and downstairs). Very intimate "basement" setting with a small balcony directly over the stage. I was lucky to get there early and scored a spot on the fire escape stairs to the right of stage and was able to stand a couple feet higher than the crowd...what an awesome viewpoint! The set list was the same as for Houston except for getting Not a Virgin added right after Hey Pretty and the order of Control and That Day being swapped (acappella version this time). Although I preferred this venue to that in Houston, the show seemed to have a few technical problems. More notable was the difference in the audience itself. I didn't feel as much Poe luv last night, but it was still a great time. At the show I was able to meet Lance, Brad, Kristen, Nathan, Caeser and the definitely not surly EvilAdmin from Poe chat (hey there, Brandon!) I was bummed to have missed Rita, Courtney, Manny and Brad R., and (damn my cell phone) REGGIE! Ah, at least we got to talk a bit while you were at home and I was avoiding the vagrants crusing by the tour bus :-) My AP cap has now been christened with signatures, and I had six people approach me to say I should mass- produce the Poe tank I made (hmmm...Julie? how do you feel about plastic jewels and fabric glue???) I actually had a clear enough head to ask Poe to pose for a photo with the APs this time, and I will be sure to share it plus my other photos as soon as I have time for developing and scans. Laura, Brad & Kristen, props for getting stage time with Poe! Kasey, I can't wait to see how your Poe signature tat turns out...did you remember to get it done? And Guz, man...I hope Laura took care of you and got you to the hotel intact (and filled you in on the bits and pieces I KNOW you cannot remember! hehe) Mike, Brandon, PLH (the travellers three), I look forward to seeing you in Dallas along with all the local APs. And Tim...according to the Canadian Avenger, you owe me a case of Labatts (i.e., the one you drank after you told him I was going to be at the Cleveland show and that he needed to buy for me!) I plan on collecting Monday night :-) Okay, I'm rambling and tired, so I'll end this while I have some dignity remaining. "Harry Potter Wants Your Kids" if you ask most children why they like the new "harry potter" movie or any of the four best seller books that proceeded it, they'll probably tell you that the books are funny or exciting, or perhaps "cool". The movie is even better. the sights and sounds; excitement, the action, the colors and morphing and special effects. the message is about good verses evil, and how your deceased loved ones are watching over and protecting you etc. harry potter both entertains and teaches. most parents think "it's just a movie for kids" harry potter stories are "good fiction" they think. there is no graphic brutality, no guns, no sex and violence, and no course language-all the elements a movie needed to capture the attention of children and to spark their imagination. this is part of the reason why teachers all over the country are reading harry potter books in their classes to chilren in public schools. this is why schools are letting out early in florida so children could see this movie. some schools have rented out theaters for school children to watch the movie. class trips to theaters are also being done. "may the truth be known." the "harry potter" books and the film are as deadly as anthrax to the souls of young and innocent children. harry potter books are training manuls for the occult. most parents are not aware of this. it is full of witchcraft, sorcery, and divination which are abominations against the almighty god. the books present astrology, numerology mediumship and crystal gazing. kids are enthralled with it and the powers that they offer. and kids like to copy what they see and learn. a whole generation of youngsters are obsessed with the harry potter games, puzzles, toys, secret code words, secret names, symbols and lingo etc. they have left television and video games to read these witchcraft manuals and play with the accessories. untold millions of young people are being taught to think, speak, dress and act like witches and are learning how to work with demon spirits by filling their heads with the contents of these books. this has become a lifestyle for children all in the name of fun and entertainment. they are getting to know demon spirits by name. vast numbers of children professing to be christians are also filling their hearts and minds, while parents are proud of their children's sudden interest in reading books. as christians who are familiar with spiritual battles we are aware of the influence and driving force of demons in causing undesirable behavior patterns in children. demons are not allowed to attack people at will. they must have an open door to your heart to justify their entry. being exposed to the occult is an open door for attack. harry potter wants your kids. what does god have to say about such books as the harry potter series?" witchcraft, fortune-telling, and black magic are expressly forbidden by god (deuteronomy 19:9-14). they are wrong because people are seeking answers to life apart from god. they are seeking power, wisdom and guidance from invisible demonic personalities. the scriptures condemn all sorcery because it is apposed to a proper sence of dependence upon god. we are to believe in and depend on god and his power to protect us through his son christ jesus. not in some "force" or casting of spells to get even. to be exposed to that type of activity is an open invitation to give it a shot. since the books and movies make casting spells and contacting the dead look like innocent fun, why not try it? In galatians 5:20 witchcraft is listed as being one of the acts of the sinful nature. the book of revelation contains several passages that condemn sorcery in the strongest terms (revelations 9:21, 18:23, 21:8, 22:15). the bible teaches that only god has the right to understand the realm of the supernatural (genesis 40:8), and that intrusion into the realm of the occult makes one worthy of death. its that serious. (exodus 22:18) the bible teaches eveyone about the principles that warn us against witchcraft, the ways of the devil, and necissity of spiritual warfar, prayer, and wearing spiritual armour for spiritual battles that we all go through. parents are to protect thier children not only from physical harm and danger, but aso from spiritual poison as well. from false doctrine, from wrong teachings, and occultic practices. parents will answer to god if they allow their children to read witchcraft books and watch these movies. the word of god will prevail mightily in your life only if such things of satan are destroyed. so please be advised, harry potter wants your kids. now that you are armed with this information, the responsibility to maket the right choice for your child is up to you." ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V6 #524 ***********************************
