I do have a comment about your friendship though--if I were your friend, I would be happy for you. I know that doesn't make you feel any better about it...but I don't think your friend would resent you. And in the big scheme of things, there are other, more important things, and yes, life goes on. The whole crowd was Poe-crazy right from the start (Think of England was a good warmup too) and Poe and the band just took the energy and ran with it. At some points the crowd was singing along so well that it was like they were a professional chorus. Naturally, Poe couldn't let that go by without playing with it; she did some cool "vollyballing" of verse segments back and forth with the crowd. The set list was the same as reported for the Detroit and Cleveland shows with the exception of...get this...she did "That Day" a capella! It was amazing...completely by herself...the band didn't even join in for the hard-edged middle section. She would stop between verses and commune with the crowd. It was really special, and it becomes readily apparent in that context just how well Poe is able to use her voice. I was impressed. She did the now mandatory stage dive during "Dolphin"...it is such a natural...and then crowd surfed around a bit before returning to the stage. Before "Haunted" she got a couple girls out of the audience to tell ghost stories while the intro music to the song played softly in the background. She let them stay and dance during the song, and one of them ended up doing the dirty boogie with Ziggy...it was hilarious. He wound up sort of lying on the floor just looking up at her with this awed expression on his face...he is such a ham! Poe took off through the crowd during the song too and...ah, yes...I actually touched naked Poeflesh (so it was only her arm as she brushed past me in the crowd...Poeflesh is Poeflesh). I am here to report that Poe has skin like electric velvet. I am not kidding. She is so buffed out and firm looking, but she is actually very soft and feminine at the same time...and she really does have something like electric voltage about her energy level. She must have some cat blood in the family. When she took her denim jacket off after the opening number the UC frat boys next to me actually groaned aloud from lust...not in the usual frat boy manner either; it was inadvertent and almost unconcious. After the show the whole crowd was just beaming and a lot of ear-to-ear grins were to be seen...Cincinnati loves Poe! A lot of people gathered out back to meet Poe and get stuff signed, but she and the band and also Think of England had to do a meet-and-greet inside. I think it involved Proctor & Gamble people (they are headquartered here and have something to do with Pantene I think) and radio types and photogs. Poe finally came out though and signed stuff for everyone who was there and chatted with a lot of us too. I actually met the infamous Craig and he is really a pretty cool guy...he is a real professional though, and that is not something all fans can relate to. Before Poe came out Ziggy entertained the crowd with his friendly antics. He also signed a lot of stuff, including one girl's navel...and he drew an arrow from her navel almost to her *ahem* and wrote something by it which she wouldn't show to anyone else afterwards. Hehehehe...it must have been good. Later on he took her around the front of the bus where nobody could see and (DeLuca will be so jealous) signed her butt! Hahaha...Ziggy is a scream. Anyway, the show was a blast and Poe rules! You peeps in Boston and NYC and Pittsburgh better get ready. After that they go down south for the warm weather and southern hospitality. You SEAPs and SOAPs better make sure your overdrive is functioning, 'cause Poe is already in high gear. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Nov 2001 23:55:55 -0500 From: "Kristen Kirkland" Subject: Re: 2 tickets needed: NYC, village underground I can't remember why Melissa is not on this list... While I can agree that it is incorrect to make personal attacks on Craig or Angie there is very little value in respect that eminates from demand. I think it is EXTREMELY unfortunate that we now have a situation on this list where people will be quiet even if they want to voice an opinion, THATS the way it is. Congrats, we have reached a new level. Personaly I'm happy to see Poe where she belongs, on a stage, or elsewhere behind a microphone. Anything else has been icing on the cake, AND, to be honest, I get my jollies more by watching OTHERS interact with Poe than I do when she has spent a couple moments with me. Don't get me wrong, I will always cherish the time she gave to me, but I find myself more in awe as she casualy interacts with those who are clearly overwhelmed with joy to have a moment of her time for a picture or an autograph. I think I also heard that same sentiment repeated often and loudly by the DM fans when I was in Toronto, they would walk up jaws hanging talking about how cool it was that Poe would just come out in the food court to be with her fans. That those FANS that Poe spends her time with come from THIS list, makes a Poe show even more special, many of us have traded e-mails, chatted @ www.poe.org & #poe for years, and in many cases have met on multiple occassions. So, even if Poe does not have a minute to spare, nobody on this list should ever walk away from a Poe show dissappointed after an evening with AP friends. I can't say that I have ever said that I wish for the "Old Skool" AP days, I can enjoy memories OF the past, but I need to make TODAYS good time happen. However, I just don't recall all of these issues, that seem to stem more from marketing, than what the purpose of this list is for, or at least what I thought it was for, FANS of Poe. I guess I knew we really had problems when I did some photos for a local band and found out much to my amazement that they have a 600 member mailing list that runs with rarely a blip in serving their fan base. Yep, it's not that we now have 1,000 members, it's more that this list has become a marketing tool, instead of the grass roots forum for those who are fans that it started out as. I'm sure I will now be told how wrong I am etc ... Currently, the two best sites for Poe lyrics (IMHO) are: http://www.geocities.com/run_rom_run/POEs_Place/poelyrics.html http://www.alwaysontherun.net/poe.htm To the best of my knowledge, there is no "official" version of the Haunted lyrics, written down by POE herself. POE stated on the official message board that the infamous "The ass is a tree" screwup was actually made by someone in Atlantic, in leaflets they sent out to the press. Heck, even the transcription of the Father-Daughter dialogs in the Haunted booklet isn't all that accurate - things like "Communication is more than just words" instead of "Communication is not just words". I've been trying my best to submit all of the errors on "Always on the Run" page, as it is, as you may have noticed, the first page you'll find if you search for "poe lyrics" on Google. There is still a way to go; There are still a few errors on several songs, particularly "If You Were Here" which is almost completelly incorrect and lacking. I've submitted the "Not a Virgin" update, so thanks a lot Bashful7. I havn't checked the lyrics for that song at all. Any more you can spot? Another good point to remember is Paul still owns 50% of the contract so that makes it harder for Atlantic to "freeze" new Poe material that has all ready been recorded. It's a waiting game at this point to see what Atlantic is really going to do with Poe in the future. In the meantime keep smiling and enjoy live Poe when she comes to your town... or be crazy like Mark and I and travel all over the place!!! tim may - ----Original Message Follows---- From: KrodKnid@aol.com To: AZTECLADY007@aol.com, angry-psychos@smoe.org Subject: Re: interesting Poe tidbit Date: Tue, 13 Nov 2001 17:31:36 EST >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Well, there is still the possibility that Atlantic will release at least one new Poe album from that material...possibly two. This just came up. I need a ticket for Village Underground. My friend and I planned to go to the Boston show tomorrow. Since we didn't have school on Monday and my stupid school made Wednesday a Monday schedule, which means her exam also got switched. So, she can't make it to the Boston show tomorrow and felt really bad about it. She wanna catch Poe on Thur, but I only bought one ticket for the NYC show. That really sucks. Anyhow, does any of you have an extra ticket for the NYC show that you like to re-sell it, or does anyone know for a fact that there are gonna be people scalping tickets outside the venue? I don't wanna take her on a ride for 4 hours and end up not being able to see Poe. Thanks, Ben Find the one for you at Yahoo! But whenever I'm online, or I read the digest there's always some bullshit going on with Craig or Angie, and at the chat, there seems to be this whole ickiness with Aaron (underachiever)....anyway, basically i just wanted to say: cant we all just get along? its really tiresome to hear the same bitching over and over again... that's all. i hope everyone takes this the right way. peace... Firstly, I realize this e-mail is a tad unorthodox, but it is not meant to upset or annoy anyone. It is clearly marked as an off-topic post in the subject line. Now, I am in the process of making a gum wrapper chain. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a chain (obviously) made by taking the paper sleeves in which most gums-in-stick-form are wrapped, folding them in a certain way, and linking them together. For those of you who have seen the movie 28 Days, it is what Sandra Bullock makes during one scene while she is in rehab. It's just something I usually do during school to pass the time during boring classes. Alas, I don't chew gum. I can't stand the stuff. So far, though, my friends at school have been rather forthcoming with their gum wrappers, and my chain is currently about twelve and a half feet long. It's a modicum of all sorts of different wrappers, brands, and colors, and, if I may say so myself, looks quite spiffy, :). I'm not going for any sort of world record (in fact, the world record is currently held by a gentleman in Canada; you may see his website here: (I don't think I could handle a gum wrapper chain that weighed over 500 pounds)); I just want to see how long I can get the darn thing. This is where y'all come in. I tried only to send this to mailing lists with a generally younger demographic, as those are usually the people who chew gum. However, if you have any gum-loving friends and family whom you feel may be interested, please forward this letter to them. However, please don't just forward it to random people; I have no desire to have my name and e-mail address floating around the internet any more than it already is, and I don't want this to become another stupid chain letter frenzy. That is certainly not my intent. So, if any of you have gum wrappers you would be willing to donate to my cause (just the paper sleeves, not the foil wrappers...and I'm afraid only the paper sleeves from stick gum will work, no Trident, Bubblicious, etc.), please send me an e-mail privately and we'll see about you mailing them to me so that I may add them to my chain. I will take absolutely any brand and any color (even plain white)...the more variety I get the better, :). Thank you for putting up with my annoying off-topic e-mail for the day, and now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Find the one for you at Yahoo!
