Poe played an awesome show, but Ziggy's string broke just before Not A Virgin, so he tried it without, but most of the way through he had to stop, so we got to hear it again from the second verse. This was an awesome show, she walked through the crowd a few times, it was cool. Yeah, and craig does seem to be a big jerk too. But that's probly the unwritten part of his job decsription. NOt only did Think Of England have to tear down their own gear, they had to hand out the free cds after the show too...so much for corporate sponsorship.setlist...geez i know the songs that were played, but the order just doesn't come to mind right now. hopefully someone better at that will be able to post it for ya. okay, bye - ---dan ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2001 22:34:32 -0800 From: "Vanessa Solis" Subject: Re: Haunted: Colors? Choking the Cherry Not a Virgin 5 1/2 minute hallway At the end of Choking the cherry Z tossed his bass on the floor and he, with the help of poe, started stomping on it breaking strings in the process and making some wonderfull loud noise. The new keyboard player is awsome!! The building the show was at has two clubs in it. The Butthole Surfers were playing in the larger club and interferred with Poe for a little bit. Poe didn't start till 11 however so it was only a problem for a short while. Someone kept asking poe to play control and she responded with "if I play control now then you will have the control". She then asked if we wanted to all march upstairs and take control from the other concert. ;) This came up a couple of times and each time the security looked very scared. Poe had people up on stage as in the other shows on this tour thus far and had someone from the audiance tell a ghost story before haunted. Everyone be happy that you get to see POE in a small club!!!! The problem with the show was that it wasn't sold out, a lot of the tickets were given out free to people who just happened to be at the right place at the right time (usually any local mall) and they aren't fans at all, they're just there for something to do. this is (in my opinion) a BIG problem with Detroit shows. If only a larger Poe fan base existed in Detroit, then the crowd would have APPRECIATED the gig instead of just showed up there cause there was nothing better for them to do on a saturday night. As in what you will be wearing @ the concert itself. We all want to look incredible but whatever you wear it MUST be mosh-worthy!! :-) 2. Sharpie Marker(s). Need I say more? 3. Disposable Camera. They may or may not let AP's take pics during the show, but it will still be great to use to remember all the new PsYcHoS your going to meet! 4. An Autographed pic of yourself(to give to Poe)! Dont you think youd get a bit self concious if you were the ONLY one giving out signatures? This way Poe can have a face to match up w/ names too! 5. An EXTRA set of clothes. For all of you who are going to go to Terrys PsYcHo Slumber Party, you'll probably want to get comfy and out of your binding club-wear. 6. A Rose!!! This is to wear at Myagis AND the show so we know who are AP's and who aren't. 7. A good attitude. Were all fans of the music so lets keep it to that. No bad vibes(even about Craig!) ;-) See You All There!!!! ~Gypsy ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 11 Nov 2001 18:32:57 -0800 From: "AT" Subject: Re: ROXY Checklist!! > 7. A good attitude. It comes from both the water and glass (as in a test tube) being polar and attracting each other. I've never tried it, but I'd assume that oil would not react this way... Hmmm... Maybe I should go to the kitchen and test this out. In reality if you drop Jello it splatters all over the place. Unless you made it horribly wrong. ===== I dreamt tomorrow had a prettier face... We is my boyfriend and myself. WE got to the backdoor where I was supposed to meet Craig, but he was not there so I wandered in and was awe struck by Poe! Standing there signing on stage having fun with her band. I eventually found Craig signed my release form.... saw the tour bus! Classical music was playing and there was a chess board all set up. Then I went back into the club to photograph. I was allowed to photograph all I wanted as long as I didnt get too close to the stage. The warmed up Not A Virgin... and had lots of fun, and then Wild. Then Poe came over and talked with us. Explained that she cant afford to get sued so that is why we have to sign waivers and she felt bad cause she doesnt like waivers either. She was very sleepy and mad at me cause I got up at noon! I think she forgave me though!@! he he he. Craig asked her on timing for doing and interview and so she had to go get dressed for the show. I took this time to hand her a picture of marc( my boyfriend) and me that we had signed for her! She thought it was really cute then she noticed the Poe ball patches I had made and was really excited to show me the Dragon jacket she was stitching beads on. (Congratulations to who ever bought that it looked awesome.) Then we waited for her to get back and do the interview so we checked out Think Of England. They sounded pretty cool, and the lead singer had an incredible voice. When Poe got back Craig made sure we could watch it and so we got to sit in on that interview... which got moved to on top of the bar... and she told a niffty story about how Detroit is the birthplace of Angry Johnny and other songs on the first album. We took more picture of her and us with her. And she autographed stuff for us, then I showed her my Poe neckless I made before I started listening to her cause I was obsessed with Edgar Allen. She liked that. Her and her band members goofed off and were hilarious! Then it was time for the doors to open so I headed up to the stage to get a good spot. I bought a blue rhinestone t-shirt... very cool love it a lot, two condoms and two stickers and the opening bands CD. The opening band rocked and I enjoyed them.. They had a good rapor with the crowd. Then POE came onto stage!!!!!!!!! I believe the set list went like this.. Hello Wild Beautiful Girl- Dedicated to all women in the crowd who didnt feel as wonderful as they really were... including her. And then she pulled five girls on stage(me included!) Dolphin- she crowd surfed Trigger happy Jack- she just jumped around like crazy and had a blast... very amusing to watch Fly away- was dedicated to any one who needed freedom and had to ask to take it. Hey Pretty- She talked about her brothers book and how he rocks and is amazing Angry Johnny- she asked if any one was from Southfield where Angry Johnny was produced. Walk the walk Haunted-She had a man come up on stage and tell a story of the ghost that haunts his house Control- She had been talking about going upstairs to the other concert to ask them to be quiet but by the time we got to control they were done! She wanted the whole crowd to go up there and ask them to keep it down! We actually couldnt hear them. But the whole band had a blast during this song and she ran out dance with the crowd I think her. At the end she screamed into the mike and it sounded like she was screaming from all around and behind me. Like I Imagine the beast in HOL (or what ever it is I have not finished it) would be like. She reverberated in me and from behind! Very interesting and amazing and intense. Then they went off stage but we cheered and they came back for the encore Encore Choke the cherry- at the end her and Ziggy were stepping on and kicking and tearing at the guitar strings and he broke two strings. Virgin- they were not supposed to play this song but a girl in the front said it was her first concert so Poe brought her on stage and said I am glad to be your first and sang a bit... Shes not a virgin any more. And her band picked up the song so they played it! The first time with that band, but after the first bit they had to stop cause the bass player needed to tune his spare guitar. Then they picked it up and it rocked. 5 = min hallway- she explained a bit about her father and then they did this song. I could see the emotion in her eyes. Over all the concert was incredible. She was so intense and hyper and just did what she wanted and loved the fans and let them play along! She hovered above me at stages and I was in awe even after having hung out with her before hand. Then Craig signaled me to go backstage and say good bye and give them the film. I was assured once again I would get the pics on Disk to print up and I could see them online sometime soon and choose what pics should go on the site. That was very cool. Then Poe had to fly cause they had a interview in the morning in Boston and a show that night. Poe commented about Craig saying he is a great guy but has the worst job. He was nice to me and helpful but they seem to have a tight time schedule to run so we worked with what we got. Hope all the other shows rock that much! I was, at first, not going to go to see our beloved POE tonight because I've been sick. Well, anyhow, I decided that since I bought the tix the day they went on sale, I would simply go so I didn't have to eat the cost (God knows that college students are already broke as it is). Well, Lemme say that "think of england" is awesome, I think... Maybe that just my taste... who knows? Anyhow, POE started to play then thereafter... she opened with the band version of Hello and the place was crazy from then on... Anyhow, on to my point... since, I was sick, I stayed in the back of the place as to not cough all over people around me. I saw the show perfectly and all the people there too. I've concluded that APs, for the most part, are hot sexy b!tchs! LOL. Anyhow, it was a love session amongst the few APs there. At one point, an AP who remembered me from the Shooters show came over and talked to me and gave me a hug later... he was a cutie (beside the point again). It was just an awesome atmosphere. People were getting together for the exact reason that this type of music was made. To bring people together and to have fun. It was quite a night. I wouldn't take it back for the world. Plus, I FINALLY got to meet Carri whom I've been anonymously talking to for months now because we alwayz seem to just miss each other. Oh what fun! *sigh* I'll give you your ears back now. Thankies. ~Scott (Me.. whatever) ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V6 #505 ***********************************
