Bwah! Well, I wrote thus review of the SLC show a couple of days ago but my email was acting funky so here it is. I'll start off by saying I'm somewhat of a lurker on the list and the p-o-e.com board. Some of ya know me but it's mostly from #poe. I'm not sure why I felt the need to introduce myself other then I was the other contest winner with Rachel and lot of you prolly don't know me. (BTW I'm banky37 on #poe and p-o-e.com) Rachel and I got to go into the venue about 5:45 or so after signing release forms on the bus and getting our passes. Then we got to sit though the band's soundcheck. That was cool seeing them run through the songs even though none of them really went smoothly during the check. (You wouldn't know it during the show though they sounded great) I believe Rachel and I both used a whole roll of film each just on the sound check. Oh yeah, she made sure everyone welcomed us during the soundcheck. After the check Poe had leave for a minute. We talked to Daris a little bit while he was putting some equipment away he's a really nice guy. Poe came back and said she needed to get some fun stuff for us and brought us back a sticker, temporary tattoo, and a Not A Virgin condom. We talked to her for a little while about a few things nothing of dire importance. This is the second time I've gotten to meet her and she's the sweetest, coolest person. She does love us. Though I don't love giving up my film it was worth it just to see her again. After Poe left and Think of England soundchecked they started letting people in. Basically all the APs I had met earlier were right up front were we should be =) I liked Think of England quite a bit, but being the Poe list I wont go into them other then they were good. Poe's set was just amazing. I love this woman as a person and as an artist and performer. She just seems to have so much fun and that energy just seems to transfer to the crowd. The set has been posted but not really in order. They followed the set list other then changing around the order of the encore songs Hello Wild Beautiful Girl (Dedicated to Rachel and Miki) Dolphin Hey Pretty Trigger Happy Jack Walk The Walk Angry Johnny Haunted Fly Away Control Encore: That Day Choking The Cherry 5 & 1/2 Minute Hallway That Day was actually last on the set list. Over the course of the evening Poe crowd surfed a few times. Dedicated Beautiful Girl to Rachel and Miki, and had them up on stage with some people including some guy. I had to laugh when she looked at me put her hand on my head and proceeded to use me and some other help to surf the first time. During Haunted she was all over the place. She was up on the second floor singing on the balcony and then back to the stage through the crowd downstairs again. Poe lost her shoe during one of the surfs and she lots her shoe and the guy behind me named Jeremy also gave it back. Sivge is just a hello of a lot of fun to watch. All and all it was just a killer show. I've rambled for awhile so I'll wrap this up. It was great to meet all the AP's you are awesome people and I hope to go play with you guys again, with special greeting to the Reno Psychos (Owe you water Rachel) And thanks to Titus for getting me a set list. There is one of my few and definitely my longest post ever. A VCD standard format MPEG (which should be possible to play with any OS) as well as a DivX ;-) copy to provide a smaller file for people to download. There is also a ton of RealMedia on the site, but in my opinion, RealMedia is not the best choice, although small, it's not very portable plus the horrible player. What are people's opinions? do more people download the DivX files or the MPEGs or even pass on the larger video files? I'm all about MPEG if there's the bandwidth to transfer it personally. In other news: Poe is on tour... really, honestly... and she's playing all OVER the place... so many places demanded her to be there that she strung out concert dates over such a short period of time that she needs a couple of hours to breathe... therefore because you Angry Psychos demanded her to play a show in your hometown, you all lash out and say she isn't being fair to you because she isn't spending individual quality time with you.... which would you rather have? A Poe show in your town, or Poe in a town 400 miles away visiting with Angry Psychos because her concert tour only has 11 dates with many days between shows? MZD has a new version of House of Leaves available from the usual outlets... to buy one that gives mzd.poe.st credit on our Barnes&Noble Affiliate account, visit http://mzd.poe.st/bib.html hell visit the page just to look at the ORIGINAL cover art for the novel and to read about the different versions... THEN click on the link to buy one. Now a brief history lesson: Once upon a time, Jarrod Kniff created poe.org that pointed to the angry-psychos mailing list... the psychos planned get togethers and even had the chance to interact with Poe on several occasions... Poe stopped touring and disappeared for a few years... Poe went on tour with her brother in support of her second album... ShellE Productions laid out a lot of stuff, then Robby Black came in to assist, then Dan and Dean began their tug of war/cooperative information giving. Then Dean's website and our "direct connection with poe" disappeared... so everyone demanded a direct connection with poe... so Angie came in as... get this... a direct connection with poe... then you all started your whining and bitching and moaning... actually, there's been whining and bitching and moaning the whole time... why is it when you get what you ask for you expect SO MUCH more? on that note, visit http://www.poe.st and have a nice day! - -eXej - --------------- This message is a Public Service Announcement brought to you by ShellE Productions.
