Test this out first to make sure you can do it. The difficulty has to do with the bread absorbing all the moisture in your mouth making it very difficult to swallow after the first bite or two. So, try squeezing the piece of plain white bread into a tiny ball...that stuff is very porous and you can squeeze it down incredibly small. Since all the air pockets are now gone, it doesn't absorb as much moisture from your mouth. If you get it small enough you should be able to swallow it in one gulp. Better have a friend standing by who knows the Heimlich maneuver though...in case the thing gets stuck in your throat. Better yet, get some guy to do the actual bread swallowing for you...hehehehe. Seriously though, guys have larger throats and can wolf stuff down with greater alacrity than girls. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Oct 2001 14:34:29 EDT From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Re: two denise's in philly....confused In a message dated 10/25/2001 10:38:34 AM Eastern Daylight Time, jbell126@nac.net writes: > This says 11/15 is the Bowery Ballroom in NYC, while other sources say The > Village Underground. I am hoping that Angie will read this and maybe even respond. I am not a person that posts much but I myself am tired of some things and so therefore and putting my thoughts out there as well. I get the digest of the list and I tend to not read them everyday. Usually it is every three days or so, but the one thing that I have seen over the last month has been this constant problem surrounding Angie, her actions, and the type of person that she is. Angie, I want to tell you a story and please give me a moment to explain afterwards. I recently watched one of my favorite movies, "The American President" just for the heck of it cause I like it etc. (If you haven't seen it, then please take some time and do it because then you will understand with perfect clarity the point that I am working towards.) In this movie, the person that is running for president has been coming out with lots of attacks, saying things, good and bad about the current president who is the person that he would be running against. This went on for a while and the only reaction that came from the White House if any was "no comment." This drove the presidents staff bananas until one day one of his aids went off on the president. He said that the American people are so hungry for words, so hungry to have that direction that they will listen to anyone that is talking, and the opponent is the only one doing the talking. Angie, to be honest I don't even know much of anything surrounding what it is that you do, what your role is "officially", or what your thoughts are about many things that even you and I were supposed to be involved in. I consider myself pretty close to sources with this organization and even I am clueless. This is because the only one that I hear speaking is Dan and then the comments of others. Dan is a good person, and he has stated that you are a good person. This doesn't seem to be in question. But what IS in question is the things that have been happening here and on p-o-e.com that just don't make any sense. I am writing because I want you to come out, state your part and what is going on. We need to hear the other side of this. There are to many issues now that are driving so much doubt and discontent on this list and to be honest, you are the only one that can fix it. I am sorry that this is the case, I would hate to be in that position. Poe seems to want you in the position that you are in, we can't change that and I don't really see a need to but we need communication. We need to hear something from you about these issues that do concern you. Here is an example: #1 p-o-e.com, what is going on there? We here things about censorship and stuff not working and new information being there that isn't posted here for the AP's. #2 Questions on the list. I have seen several questions that have been posted to you, just one recently from Jarrod, and it wasn't answered and he pulled the info from p-o-e.com. It was a question concerning normal business Angie, why not respond to it? #3 State your position, what are you going to be for us? What are you to us? If you are the "point person" as it has been stated, then PLEASE take your position and BE that person. Previous point people talk to us, they communicate. If they don't have info then they make a post that says, "Sorry guys, I don't have anything new..." but they talk to us, they work with us. Because when it comes down to it, we are just a bunch of excited kids that love POE and we just want to have all the opportunities to see her and talk about her being that we are her official fan club and all. #4 Communication. PLEASE TALK TO US. I am not asking you to go at Dan, or anything like that. But we need to hear your voice. We need to hear "Sorry don't have anything.." or "Hey guys, guess what I got?" We are people, individuals that want to be talked to as human beings, not the local hip hooray parade. We want to help as always, and we need to hear from you. If we don't communicate, what is the point of it all? So Angie, this is my charge to you, please think about this super long email that I have written, PLEASE, and I hope that we, AP, inc., will here from you soon. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Oct 2001 15:17:59 -0400 From: tparks2@wvu.edu Subject: Pgh show >On one of the list that soemone sent in of dates the Pittsburgh date had >two venues. We've been hearing "Cut Here" for about a week here in Dallas. It's a great song...music sounds upbeat, but pretty depressing subject matter, all-in-all very classic RS at his best. I can't wait to get the new CD. Most of my girfriends have been astonished that I will swallow whole handfulls of vitamins, minerals, and herbs (in pill form) with one gulp of water to wash them down...most guys I know can do the same thing. Girls, on the other hand, sort of place the pills one at a time on the back of the tongue...it is a skill. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Oct 2001 20:19:46 +0000 From: "Rita Bass" Subject: Brendles and... stuff Brendles is an awesome chick!!! Damn carbonation, how do you do it? > >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> *Beeeeeelllllccccchhhhhh!* Ever hear of "shooting beers"? That is a fine art practiced by some guys around here...also in Minnesota and Wisconson. You take a can of beer and shake it just a little to build pressure (not too much or it goes all foamy)...then open the bottom with a church-key type can-opener (just one hole...so the beer stays inside 'cause there is no other vent) and then put your mouth over the hole, turn the beer upside down with yer head tilted back, and pull the pop-tab on the other end (Some "experts" open the bottom first then shake the beer with their thumb over the hole). If you have good concentration (or are drunk enough) you can relax your throat just right and the whole freakin' beer will shoot down into your gut in one smooth outpouring. You have to NOT swallow or suck the beer...it blows down yer gullet like a fire hydrant:-) You will get real drunk real fast doing this too...partly because of the foam. It is a time honored sport like cow tipping and rural mail box busting. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Oct 2001 18:58:09 EDT From: JewlyaINAP@aol.com Subject: NPR: Women! Firstoff....this is NOT a anti-male letter. I love men:) BUT, As Poe is a feminine and female artist, and I thought the women, and maybe even some of the men, on this list, would like this email.... What ya think?? Sharmel FWD: IT'S BEAUTIFUL WOMEN MONTH! (Your own "personal" copy !) And tag, you're it! Did you know that it's Beautiful Women Month? Well, it is and that means you and me. I'm supposed to send this to FIVE TEN TWENTY BEAUTIFUL WOMEN, and you are one of them!!! Did you know that if shop mannequins were real women they'd be too thin to menstruate? There are 3 billion women who don't look like supermodels and only eight who do. Marilyn Monroe wore a size 14. If Barbie was a real woman, she'd have to walk on all fours due to her proportions. The average woman weighs 144 lbs and wears between a 12-14. One out of every four college aged women has an eating disorder. The models in the magazines are airbrushed - not perfect! A psychological study in 1995 found that three minutes spent looking at a Fashion magazine caused 70% of women to feel depressed, guilty, and shameful. Models twenty years ago weighed 8% less than the average woman. Today they weigh 23% less. ~Beauty of a Woman~ The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, The figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes, Because that is the doorway to her heart, The place where love resides. The beauty of a woman Is not in a facial mole, But true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, The passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman With passing years - only grows. An English professor wrote the words, "Woman without her man is nothing," on the blackboard and directed the students to punctuate it correctly. The men wrote: "Woman, without her man, is nothing." The women wrote: "Woman! Without her, man is nothing."
