I know this isn't a Bjork list, but I just got back from the concert at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in LA and all I can say is... wow... she's truly amazing. I hope some other APs were able to see her... if any are Bjork fans. She wore the signature swan dress... gorgeousness... I'd have to say the most impressive thing about the whole show was the true correlation of her voice live to that on her recordings... I've heard people say before that she isn't a good singer at all, that she just does controlled screaming... after seeing her live I can honestly say I believe her to be a talented singer through and through... no computer needed to alter and fix this voice. *sigh* alright... I'll stop gushing now... any other APs see the show? If so, what did you all think? I'll stop gushing now... any other APs see the show? > If so, what > did you all think? I saw Bjork in Amsterdam a few weeks ago, and I must agree that is was one of the most impressive performances ever. This was (also?) one of the shows with an orchestra and a choir, and the combination of the electronics, the choir, the "classical" music, and of course Bjorks voice actaully brought tears in my eyes sometimes. I never experienced that before. And I must agree, Bjorks voice was excellent. The dynamics were impressive; she went from whispering to "controlled screaming" and back, and never missed a tone. Amazing. The only "critique" I could have at the show that is lacked some spontaneousness, but I understand that it is very difficult to improvise when you have an orchestra of 50 and a choir of 12. So if anyone who likes Bjork has the change to see her, do it! Jorrit ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 01:49:40 -0800 From: kbeckley@ucla.edu Subject: POE at UCLA this Friday!
