Poe is supposed to be meeting us all there but she is late. A BIG storm hits. I guess a huricane...and a bunch of planes and boats end up crashing. No one knows where the plane is that Poe was supposed to be on!! Everyone is crying and praying. Finally everyone is now saying our "goodbyes" to her thinking shes gone now. Its my turn and I'm bawling my eyes out. Everyone is expecting me to just say an outloud goodbye and some nice words. I scream "Fuck you all. Shes not dead!!" And run out crying... I now hear noises downstairs. Music and stuff. Theres a HUGE crowd of people looking down from balconies onto a red carpet watching Poe walk in!!! This guy probably would have ripped me off. It's not entirely about him selling on eBay. ::P http://www.depeche-mode.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000673.html http://www.depeche-mode.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000882.html http://www.depeche-mode.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000734.html The Toronto boot he's selling was sourced by me and it isn't even soundboard quality. If I had actually traded with him I'd probably be screwed right now. Poe allows taping and Atlantic knows this. If Atlantic sees Poe boots on eBay - - and yes they do monitor, but three day auctions aren't long enough to be shut down - they'll think it's our doing and then we won't be able to tape. People like him and Tom Tobin in Long Island, who once again has *not* e-mailed me back about my video and CDs, make me not want to trade at all. Consequently I haven't uploaded anything new to navelsex in quite a while, specifically two interviews and two shows. Do you get the gist of the song now? Nikki's is right around the block from St. Andy's/The Shelter, the entire strip of Monroe two blocks away has plenty of restaurants to choose from as well, Congress is pretty just a few clubs and bars Since the show is in the Selter, there will be extensive time and chance to meet with Poe, I saw DJ Andy Smith (from Portishead) in the Shelter in May, and we talked for about 45 minutes after his set, and I ended up on his guest list for his show the next day in Toronto, so yeah, it is really easy to get "face time" with the artists. From what I have been able to gather, this site has been the compilation of many members' contributions and I just want to say a great big AP thank you for making this material available. I feel lucky to be part of this group! Just wanted to share the love. Now as for the reason behind ShellE Productions bidding on such items: We own a TON of Poe stuff... we buy the actual releases... we tape the actual concerts... we normally have permission... we don't trade outside a given circle (in my case if we do trade, we either end up not sending out or ripping someone off, but Kung Gene got his tapes a few years later and Becky will get her VHS someday...) and we don't ever make a profit. The Angry Psychos benefit because we distribute fairly. Otherwise, someone weird like that guy that had all of the poe master reels might show up and we might need Dan to save up some cash to bail poe out.... It's the least we can do :P - -E In a message dated 10/22/01 4:41:37 PM Eastern Daylight Time, VR5SBloom@aol.com writes: > The boot auction has been yanked. I've heard she is super nice to all her fans, and I'd love to get a pic and autograph with her. If I need to be on a list or something could someone put me and a guest on it? (New member) <--s'me! Bren (et. al.) That's the one! St. Ives. Here's a fun little story about the recording industry that I'll use by way of begging you NOT to buy my album from online. I signed a recording contract with Outsider Music/Deep Dish Records some, gosh, has to be three years ago at least. It was a fairly lucritive deal with a producer named Richard Morel who had just gotten a ton of money from a label to start up a subsidiary and I was one of his two first acts signed. His speciality is electronic, specifically house dance mixes of music. (Note his name in the remix production credits for projects by Madonna, Tina Turner, Tori Amos and more.) So I went in with my musical theater background, my rock-n-roll frame of mind, and he helped turn my songs into electronic interestinglies. Now I'm not thrilled with how everything turned out. Some of the songs would be better suited with more pop-like arrangements, maybe even an early Bjork twinge. But for the most part I was proud of the project. Halfway through, however, he said that I was relying too heavily on him to create the songs. He suggested I put together a live band and craft some songs that we could come in and work on as a group. I spent the next six months doing that, and never got much input back from him when I emailed updates. I finally was ready to go back in with four more songs ready to record. Including what I thought was a really bitchin' cover/reinterpretation of an obscure Cyndi Lauper track called "Primitive." However I could never really get Richard to set a time for me to come by and work with him in the studio. Eventually I got a two hour block to come in and lay down vocals and guitars with my guitarist. And that was the last thing we did. A month later I told him it was sink or swim, I was tired of being jerked around and if he wasn't going to work with me and make a real attempt then I wanted out. And a week later I got a letter of dismissal from the label informing me that the contract was being dissolved due to "failure to deliver satisfactory masters for release" and for "going over budget." Which brought up these questions: I was alloted $10,000 for record production but there were SPECIFIC studios and producers where this was allowed to be spent. If what was produced wasn't satisfactory then isn't the label partially to blame for regimenting me unsatisfactory producers who couldn't deliver under the projected and allowed budget? :) Anyway, I don't own a single sound recording done with that label and other than one dance song included on a compilation there's been nothing released. So everything I have for sale or free download on mp3.com is there illegally. Well, I guess technically if I want to distrbute it for free I can, but because contractually the percentages are split on sales...you get the jist. Richard Morel went on to win, along with Deep Dish, the remixer of the year grammy last year. (Or at least was nominated - I think they won.) Meanwhile I struggle to pay the rent. So that's why I encourage you to download my music for free and listen to as much independantly produced music as possible. :) Hugs all around (and lix to the naked,) Easter ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Oct 2001 22:05:19 -0400 From: "Stephanie Lannon" Subject: Message board question Is anyone else having problems getting into the official message board?I can get to the board but when i click on one of the forums it says this page cannot be displayed. It's been like this for a week for me.Anyone else having the same problem? ~Stephanie~(The Sugar Queen) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 03:22:00 +0000 From: "this sucks" Subject: Re: NPR: reply to easter laniurreta@hotmail.com wrote: >Hooray! > >Hello Easter! Just a random rant with NOOOOOO purpose I am so bored tonight. I realized just how little there is to do nowadays, if one wants to spend little money, yet have so much fun. I almost ran out of gas on the parkway tonight, and when I got to the gas station, they actually made me wait 5 minutes cause they claimed to be changing shifts. (the same 3 guys were there the whole time). When I got my gas, I just realized that wasting it driving to the bookstore was pointless, cause most of NJ shuts down at 10:30, unless there is dancing or drinking involved....save for the one bookstore that was an hour away, and that closed at 11 pm. So yea, pardon my rant, I just had wayyy too little mail, and wayyyy too much time on my hands tonight. I found a grey hair....actually, it was a blonde hair...like whitish blonde....but blonde nonetheless. Dang. I'm 24 and my hair is changing:( Insomnia is a bitter pill, and I am forced to swallow it almost every night Sharmel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 23 Oct 2001 01:03:18 -0400 From: "Enzo Molinari" Subject: poe in nyc I'm down with anything you guys got planned...
