Right after it merges with Interstate 74 you get off at the Hopple Street exit. People coming from Indiana down I-74 use these same directions. Those on I-75 will have to merge way over to the right because the freeway is very wide there since it is still sort of 2 highways converging as one really humongous one...those on I-74 just stay to the right and you go straight onto the offramp a little after the merger. The offramp ends at a traffic light, where you go left (east). Almost immediately you come to an intersection which is Central Parkway...go through the intersection, bearing slightly to the left (but do NOT turn left onto Central Pkwy). Hopple Street becomes Martin Luther King Drive after you go through the intersection, but MLK comes in at an odd angle. It makes a couple of hairy turns and then goes uphill for a long way...maybe a couple miles even. At the very top of the hill you will see University of Cincinnati ahead on the right...it is kind of hard to miss. That is Clifton Avenue...go through that intersection too. Now you go down a relatively short, steep hill with UC on the right...you bottom out at a minor traffic light and then go uphill on an equally steep climb, still with UC on the right. At the top of this hill is a major intersection at Jefferson Avenue...the University ends there, but now on the left and ahead you can see the massive UC Medical Complex. Go through this light too (actually 2 lights), but you have to be alert at this (rather large) intersection because just as you get to the far side of Jefferson there is a one-way ramp on the right that is more or less part of the intersection. Turn right into that one-way entrance to Short Vine Street. It is called Short Vine around here because it is a fragment of the real Vine Street that is only a few blocks long. Bogart's will be on the right about 4 or 5 blocks down, just before Short Vine ends at Corry Street. Parking meters don't charge after 6 P.M. and there are usually a few spaces still available between 6 and 7. Bogart's usually opens the doors at 7 or 7:30, depending on when the show starts. If you can't find parking on Vine, check the side streets. If all else fails, there are some honor system (they trust you to put $$$ in the box) parking lots that are pretty cheap...one of them is right behind Bogart's on the south side, which is where Poe's bus and eqipment rig will be parked (right next to Bogart's south wall, but in this same parking lot). You can get to this lot by driving around to the little one-way street that goes behind Bogart's (the little street runs southbound). Okay...for those of you coming from the Northern Kentucky side of the Ohio River, come north on Interstate 71/75 and go onto I-75 when it splits with I-71 after crossing the bridge. You have to get in the fast lane within 2 or 3 miles because Hopple Street is a left lane off-ramp for northbound traffic...it comes up a few miles after you cross the river, just after Harrison (also a left off-ramp). The Hopple Street ramp curves around and merges with the southbound off-ramp, so you end up at the same light as people coming south down 74/75. After that, the directions are the same. For those of you coming down Interstate 71 from the direction of Columbus, follow the freeway almost to downtown Cincinnati just like with I-75. Get off at William Howard Taft (I think the sign says W.H. Taft...if you miss the ramp, just get off at one farther down and work your way west to Vine Street...turn right and follow Vine up the hill to where it turns into Jefferson at Taft/Calhoon). Taft is a fairly large one-way (westbound) street that turns into Calhoun somewhere along the way. About 4 or 5 miles from I-71 you will come to Jefferson (you can see University of Cincinnati ahead on the right). Turn right on Jefferson and stay to the right because at the end of the Walgreen's parking lot there is a ramp that turns right onto Corry Street. At the stop sign on Corry, turn left onto Short Vine...Bogart's is on the left in the first block. For those coming down U.S. 27 from Richmond, Indiana/Oxford, Ohio direction...just stay on 27 after it becomes Colerain Avenue and follow that all the way (several miles) to where it goes downhill with a bunch of wicked turns through Mt Airy woods. At the bottom of that long hill and through the light, Colerain goes off to the left and the right lane (you can also enter from the left lane) turns into a freeway onramp right where I-74 and I-75 are merging. Stay to the right and in a short distance you go directly onto the Hopple Street off-ramp. Then follow the same directions as I gave the Dayton people. If you are coming into Cincinnati from the east and know your way around, use your own judgement. If you are not familiar with the city, the best thing is probably to follow Interstate 275, which circles Cincinnati through extreme Southeast Indiana and Northern Kentucky as well as Ohio...follow it around the north side to where I-71 from Columbus crosses. Get off 275 onto 71 South and follow the same directions I gave the Columbus people after that. You could also follow Columbia Parkway along the south side of Cincinnati, right along the river, if you are that far south. Get off downtown and come up Vine Street through Over-the-Rhine from there...or stay on Columbia Pkwy all the way to I-75 (Vine Street might be a bit crowded downtown at that time of day). From I-75 use the same directions I gave the Northern Kentucky people. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Oct 2001 02:48:00 EDT From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Re: against ticketmaster? There are a bunch of good places for an AP meeting either before or after the show (or both even...heh, heh). Sudsy Malone's is practically across the street from Bogart's. It is a, get this, bar/laundromat combination. Hehehe...people come there and drink while they do the laundry. It is a sometime hangout for metalheads and punkers, but is fairly non-violent....mellow even. They also have some pretty decent live music there...a good after-Poe meeting spot maybe. Right next door to Sudsy's and directly across from Bogart's is a classy Italian restaurant called Martino's, but this would only be good if you had some loose $$$ and wanted a sit-down dinner, which may not be the case with all the OAPs. On the other side of Sudsy's is a nice restaurant/bar called Buffalo Wild Wings...mellow ambience with a lot of wood decor...not too expensive. A little way south on the same side of the street is a joint called Subway *something...I forget the other part*. It is a sit-down sub shop with pretty good food. At the north corner next to Bogart's is a place called the Holy Grail. It is a bar/restaurant but I think they are presently without a liquor license and are just functioning as an eatery for the nonce. There is also a Gold Star Chili and a La Rosa's Pizza in the next block. A few blocks away, at the corner of University and Jefferson (very easy walking distance), is the Buzz Coffee Shop...a UC student hangout with a great little used CD exchange right upstairs (I got the "Hello" CD there for like $7...to replace my tape which was stolen...I wore it out in the car anyway:-P). They only have bagels w/cream-cheese and muffins and espresso brownies and such to eat (oh yeah...and fantastic ice cream and espresso shakes), but they have outrageous coffees. There are couches and lounge chairs all over the place and it is a great place to hang with a large group of people. Another good one, but a little farther away (still walkable), is Cody's cybercafe on Calhoun a little west of Jefferson. It is a full-fledged cybercafe with a T1 connection to the internet for online gaming and e-mail and such ($3 an hour I think...a shitload of computers too) but it is also a very inexpensive yet high-quality restaurant and bar...they also have live music later in the evening, so this might be a good after-the-show spot (the food section quits serving at 10 though...bar till 2). But, all in all, the best place for an OAP meet-up would probably be right behind Bogart's after the show...next to Poe's bus where she will almost certainly be signing stuff for fans. This is common practice with nearly all the bands that play here, and with Poe it would seem even more likely. Oh yeah...if you want to add to your tattoo collection, come a little earlier in the day. There are a bunch of high quality inkeries all around the Bogart's part of Short Vine Street. And if you are a guitarist/bassist come a little early too...so you can browse Mike's Music, a few doors down from Bogart's. They have an amazing array of vintage guitars, basses, amps, and effects. Fans of Gretsch, Gibson, Fender, Electro-Harmonix, Vox, etc will be drooling. A guitarist from one of the recent touring bands went in there and blew over two grand! He bought the best Les Paul they had and a bunch of other stuff:-) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Oct 2001 03:36:47 -0500 From: "gini ×" Subject: Re: POE DATES in SoPsycho (SOAP) region!!! My friend and I were supposed to do this project for our English class where we interview a character from a book we were reading, but when the character answered, it's in the form of a song. The seller's location and the boots he has look suspiciously like someone I was going to trade with. I let the trade slip a week and he didn't get back to me again. Or it's quite possible he traded with someone local and that person is the one selling the boots. I don't know how he got the Toronto boot. There's nothing to report to eBay because it doesn't say 'CDR' anywhere. If you guys don't bid on it, I can try to win it (not willing to bid much more over $20 though) and then I'll put them *all* up on navelsex (not in lossy MP3 format) so someone here won't have to buy them again. The other alternative is to report the seller to the RIAA and Atlantic's piracy unit, but judging by number of auctions, the guy probably hasn't sold enough stuff to warrant a cease and desist type of thing, his auction would just get pulled. - --Michele http://www.shellE.org/ Home of PsYcHovixen, Poe documents (including the Poe discography), Garbage and Poe trading, eXej, 12 Rounds, Mono, and Exploration Z: A Haunted House Of Leaves Alternate Universe ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Oct 2001 14:43:33 -0400 From: "Kristen Kirkland" Subject: Poe in NYC Count me in for all NYC pre- and/or post events. He lives in San Diego, CA. He currently has one auciton with four boots included. The LA and Anaheim concerts are his master shows, and he probably traded to get the Toronto bootleg he currently has. It's tempting, but please don't trade with him, so that he doesn't get more Poe shows to sell. If you want to buy the boots I understand and wish we didn't have to, but please don't pay a ridiculous price for them. Poe usually allows us to tape. If you ask her she will ask you not to sell it, and sometimes she'll ask you not to even give it to others at all. This guy isn't an AP, but by selling stuff he makes us look bad too. ::/ - --Michele http://www.shellE.org/ Home of PsYcHovixen, Poe documents (including the Poe discography), Garbage and Poe trading, eXej, 12 Rounds, Mono, and Exploration Z: A Haunted House Of Leaves Alternate Universe ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Oct 2001 15:04:54 EDT From: BluesyBear@aol.com Subject: nyc tix go to www.ticketweb.com tix are dirt cheap..12 dollars ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Oct 2001 13:57:15 -0600 From: "Jon Nelson" Subject: AP stuff I'm pretty new in here, how do I go about getting some AP "stuff", like maybe shirts, or a hat, or whatever? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Oct 2001 16:47:14 -0400 From: agentorange2@mindspring.com Subject: ATLANTA 11.19.01 - the cotton club ************************************************************** i tryed to send this yesterday, but it didn't go to the list ************************************************************** the dates are in kids!
