Hello people? Aren't we Poe fans because of her MUSIC? My love for Poe goes way beyond the "internet." What attracted me to Poe in the first place was this emotional INTENSE feeling I got when I listened to her music more and more. I immediately become obsessed with knowing everything about her and wanting to be as close to her as possible....but when I listen to her music it takes me to another place...far away from this computer bullshit. Sometimes I wonder why people on this list are really ON this list. I'm not insulting anyone...but it seems to me it may be fun for some to be part of a "cult" following. Of course I sit here voting for Poe to different radio stations around the country, (all but my own most of the time)...and I check my email everyday with HIGH hopes of hearing ANY kind of news....and i also cried my eyes out for hours when I didn't get to meet her at either depeche mode concerts....but the most important thing is knowing that Poe is a genius musician/poet and is still doing what she does best. As long as I have my Haunted and Hello cd here to listen to everyday....filling my soul with all kinds of goodness....it keeps me intact. This goes out to Dan, Angie, and WHOEVER else. Just remember why we love Poe in the first place. Not because it's fun to be part of an "elite" following...but because we worship her music... Anyway..I'm glad I finally put that into words. Very FEW people on this list gave me any support in my view that the relationship between Poe "Electric Artists" was a VERY anti AP thing. Very few people have EVER questioned why it is that Jarrod, webmaster of Http://Poe.Org got FUCKED by the powers that be to the point that we never even saw the new Http://Poe.Org that should have been unveiled with the release of "Haunted" It struck me as odd to see Dan invoke the memory of "Electric Artists" as something evil, as well as all of the support he gets from those on this list, in contrast to the anger I had to put up with from the majority of this list, including a RARE vist, to #poe, by Poe, where she explained to me how wrong I was. Last we heard from EA was his drunken post that the Poe Xmas message was available, 4 weeks after Xmas. There have been times where I have been under fire because I tend to rip on efforts to put the angry-psychos into some kind of order. I'm not sure if people understand that it is not order I am against, I am opposed to the type of change that attempts to fix things that are not broken, to make things better, to the point that it is no longer a grass roots effort, instead it is the "in thing" to do. BUT, the largest negative effect of all of this is lost energy in efforts that in the end have no bearing on the outcome of things. My screen name is sp00k, I chose that name because it provides continuity to my telecommunications roots. Part of those roots includes an ingrained tendancy to read between the lines, to think multiple moves ahead, and to examine situations to the extremes of either end. Leave it to me to say the unpopular thing. If anybody else on this list, made the posts that Dan is making, it might be something to be worried about. I am NOT saying that is the case, I met Dan briefly in Cleveland, I have followed his efforts in support of Poe AND the AP's. Dan and I have exchanged nice e-mails, and evil e-mails, and still share a common idea, that Poe, her words, and the way she presents them on a stage, are worthy of our attention. At this time I consider myself a supporter of Dans efforts. Everything else should be just icing on the cake. But it is not so. I hope that Atlantic has learned a lesson from this. If not I will spell it out. Had they thrown their suppport behind Jarrod, Amatto, and the AP's, a year ago, Poe would not be bogged down in the quagmire she now finds herself in. Lack of AP support from Atlantic has NOT produced a negative impact on the ranks of the AP's. Last year at this time there were 250 people in the AP ward we are now at over 1,000 ! Not bad for an artist who can't get any air play. Why any money minded person would distance their artist from the people who are willing to do the most to get that artist on the public radar is beyond my LOGIC. Look at the talent pool gone to waste, I am perhaps one of the least educated members of this list. This entire medium of communications, the internet, which should be abuzz with the word of Poe, is essentialy stifled by the powers that be who cannot apparently get their head out of their wallet long enough to notice daylight. In my life, I have witnessed, or interacted with Poe about 7 times, and keep in mind, I always read between the lines. Add to that, all that we know from the last few years communicating here, and it is VERY clear, that Poe is NOT the problem. There are so MANY people on this list, beyond the few I have named, that have done so much to try to make the "Poe" thing happen. Michele and her dicography, her support of #poe, and her occassional calls for reason. The T-shirt makers, logo makers, regional organizers, event hosts, web site builders, etc ... each time someone is shot down another AP picks up the Poe banner and runs with it. I will agree with Notajunkie, I was taken aback by Angie's rather cold announcement of the tour dates, it's like throwing food at hungry people, thanks for the bread. She can't have it both ways, if she is one of us, so be it, she certainly is welcome here, but she is going to have to let her hair down a bit more than she has already tried to do, but if she is the voice of Atlantic then she should identify herself as such and do the best she can from that position. As Poe has primarily distanced herself from all of this over the years, I have no qualms in saying that I take my lead from Jarrod, webmaster of Http://Poe.Org Always have, always will. At this time there is a discussion of "Angry-Psychos" Inc. or it is a done deal, I'm still not quite sure. It appears to have the support of Jarrod, I can't say that I have seen him say this, but he is named on the board of directors. As I said above I take my lead from Jarrod, if he is in favor of incorporation I will follow, and I think the MAJORITY on this list are of a like mind in terms of supporting the path that Jarrod takes. Bottom line, Poe and Haunted, Mark and House of Leaves, Poe.Org and the AP's are winners, Atlantic on the other hand has created a losing situation for itself. It is hard for me at this time to view the Atlantic/Poe relationship as anything more than Ball & Chain. It is my beliefe that we will see and HEAR the very BEST of Poe, when she breaks the chain. Of course the failure of Haunted on the charts equates into good news for the AP's, ie, Poe will apparently be playing in small venues. It ain't over until the skinny lady is done singing. sp00k etc ... Oh yeah...and think what this all could mean for the movie industry (now that DVD burners are becoming widely available) if musicians were to start producing their own videos and marketing them without an industry contract just like they can with CDs. Next thing you know, movie actors and directors etc will be doing it. Good God...this could lead to freedom of artists! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Oct 2001 12:35:57 -0400 From: Melissa Subject: Road Trip [Version 2.0] I'm up for a road trip from Detroit to Cleveland! >> I appreciate your comments and compliemnts sp00k... Always have. *** Let it be know, I have bitter feelings for all my past efforts and no recognition from the Atlantic/POE camp... but that was 4/5 years ago and time does heal... In addition, I FULLY support the incorporation of the Angry Psychos. I am on the board of directors and will only act in the best interest of the group as a whole. Granted, this is very subjective... This is why you have a vote!!! So use it appropriately and honestly. *** Why this was done -- With incorporation, we have a "professional medium" to negotiate with Atlantic and others... Dan articulated this very well in the past and we will elaborate more on this in the future. *** We are on a very positive path. Let's keep our heads high. *************************************************** JK/// Jarrod Kniff President - Cyberfan Corporation jarrod@cyberfan.com *************************************************** "One important key to success is self-confidence.
