Personally, I hope the latter is the true outcome. Either way, however, I just want to say rock on. I think that whether or not anyone on the list agrees or disagrees with you, no one can question your dedication to Poe and the AP's. On this basis, you've got huge nuts man and i have nothing but the highest respect for you for standing your ground. - -------------------- Next - When it comes down to it, there might be alot of things that atlantic, nettwerk, electronic artist, and Poe are not telling us that will be great for Poe now and in the future, as well there could be alot of bad things. The problem seems to me to be less about what's going on, and more about the fact that so much information is being held back. There are people on this list that have put as much, if not more, into supporting Poe than any hired hand. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a lurker an don't do much myself, but being that as it may, I sit back and watch and read every post that hits my inbox. I appreciate what every AP has to say whether I agree or not. I appreciate the info. and advice from the veterans as well as the details of the newbie's. I appreciate the rumors as well as the "legal" information provided by Angie. However, what I have always appreciated the most about being an AP is the connection we all have to each other and to Poe. Within the last couple of months though, I can't help but feel the distance between us and Poe growing. Of course this is only my opinion, but I can't remember the last time we actually had the opportunity to chat with Poe. I love the echoes and the journals on p-o-e.com, but while the majority of listeners and readers are more than likely AP's, they aren't exclusive in any way to the group. Finally, we're expected to get most if not all of our information from a point person, i.e. a hired publicist roaming the list. If there is something we weren't doing or if we weren't put anything into supporting Poe, then I could understand the separation. I'm in no way an authority, but I haven't seen that happen. If anything we're working harder and doing more than any hired hand I've heard mentioned. So, is that how it goes? A group of fans and supporters come together to support an artist, creating the most personal and united fan base of nearly any artist. Then in one form or another this culture is expected to be regulated and if that doesn't occur they're faced with separation from the artist they've come together to support? If something threatens the lifestyle we currently enjoy in the USA, as was the case when we went to Kuwait over oil, I don't have a problem with it. I know we went there for more reasons than that, but if OIL needed to support our lifestyle aka "vital interestes" was the only reason, I would be supportive While it is on my mind I want to say something else in a similar vein about Isreal. Everybody talks shit about Isreal, and how all of our woe's can be traced to our relationship with Isreal. The majority of people who take to this line of reasoning are anti semtic, anti Jew, anti Hebrew, I don't want to aruge symantics, simple as that. America does not protect Isreal because of some kind of specail influence the people on this dot in the middle east hold over us. We support Isreal for the same reasons we support anybody else. The reason we see the anti Isreal card played so often, is because it gives those whose real pupose is to spread more hatered against the Jews an opportunity to hide their agenda in the name of discussing "current events" Is it right that the U.S. deals with dictators, of COUSE it is, on one hand we have people saying we should not police the world, then they turn around and slap you with the other because we slept with the self appointed ruler of some third world shit hole. We DO learn from our mistakes, and life is an evolutinary process. The USA cannot save the world in a day, it cannot police the entire planet, but we can band together with our allies to preserve the type of lifestyle that the MAJORITY of the WORLD is trying to live. Yep and in this case it comes in the form of 5,000 pound bombs, "Bunker Busters" laser guided to targets that just begin to pave the way for COMPLETE retribution for the 911 attack, but hopefuly this "war" will take on it's stated objectives, not that there will EVER be an end to terrorisim, but we have obviously reached an EXTREME that demands attention. Untill the 1st amendment goes the way of the 2nd and the 4th in > my life Ill most likely continue. I should look elsewhere to do so perhaps > because I feel the friendships Ive made on this list dying.Terry I'm sorry you feel that way, much of what I said was tounge in cheek, hyperbol, etc ... but I will ask you the same question I asked Notajunkie, another long time list relationship, that has been strained over differing opinoins on the 911 attack. What does it take to touch you? Is it because YOUR daughter is safe that you are ok with this? If what comes around, as you put it, kills someone you love, you gonna hate Unlce Sam for it? Will you damn our forigne policy? Or would you do anything in your power to take out the people who did it? From my point of view, 911 was more savage than Pearl Harbor. Those who really know me realize that to me this attack was no surprise, in the sense that it WOULD happen, not the when and the where, just that it would. I was not alone with this thought, I am willing to speculate that it was over 10 years ago that I first saw the episode on 60 Minutes that detailed how teams sit around the clock scattered across major American cities waiting to go out in search of a terrorists nuclear device. And the beat goes on, or so it did. Many people lead by the media have been talking like this is a done deal, and if so, fine, so be it. But me, I can't shake that sick feeling in my stomahce. It is not from the knowledge that there will be more attacks on the U.S. It is from this chours of voices that keep saying there is something wrong with us, we deserve this. Really? All you fuckers think we been punished enough yet? If not step forward bitch bring along your family and offer yourselves up as attonement for our sins, all you peacenick mother fuckers, go ahead, send a message to the terrorists, tell them to come and get your stupid asses. Personaly I'd be more than happy to kill anybody involved with 911. If you download and install BearShare, LimeWire, AudioGalaxy, et al...be advised that these programs include "spyware" which will put cookies in the Windows cookie folder (not in "temporary internet files", which is the online cache and where most cookies go...there is a seperate cookie folder for special ones). This spyware will track you online and use gathered info to send you spam e-mail and even spam snail mail if they get your address. This can range from simple ads to porno crap. These cookies have names like "flycast", "doubleclick", "sextracker", etc. They suck...sometimes they even cause your computer to act in a bizarre manner while they are trying to transmit info about you. It should be illegal, but it isn't. What you can do about it is go here: Welcome to Lavasoft ! http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ Download and install a little program called "AdAware". When you run it, it will scan your registry and hard drive for common spyware files and then you checkmark each one and it will delete them. Don't forget to check each one, or they will not get deleted. Some of the dirtier ones may require a reboot to get rid of them completely, but usually there is no reboot required because most of them don't mess with the Windows registry. Still, every time you open BearShare or LimeWire, the program will put from 4 to 6 of those cookies on your hard drive. Some of them won't even work if you delete the spyware while they are running. AudioGalaxy is one of the worst. I knew one girl who had over 200 spyware cookies, mostly from AudioGalaxy. Some websites will also sneak spyware aboard when you visit them. My brother who doesn't even use any file sharing software had over 40. The only file sharing programs which use ZERO spyware are WInMX (which never used any) and the newest version of Morpheus (which still may have a couple sneaked in there...I haven't quite discovered whether they do or not yet). Anyway, just an advisement for people using LimeWire, BearShare, et al. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Oct 2001 14:41:04 -0700 (PDT) From: Onagh Levy Subject: NPR: Terrorist Funny > ------------- Forwarded message follows - ------------- > > I have a moral question for you. Okay, now that I got that out of my system. I am also a big fan of Ryoni Kinshin (hope that is how to spell it) The wandering samurai. Right now my fiancee and I are working on buying the whole series on DVD. Kinda hard though, they're 30 bucks a pop and we both have shit jobs at the moment. Anyways, any suggestions for really great anime? Like the style Kinshin runs under, just looking for more like that. Rurouni Kenshin is a good series, manga-wise. The OAVs are beautiful and godly, but the movie is pretty horrid. The TV series drags on forever and is comprised largely of filler episodes and fairly cheap animation. So.. if you REALLY want to get into ruroken.. I really suggest getting the manga. There's a few ruroken translated manga sites on the net, you can find them at http://anipike.com Cowboy Bebop is great, too.. I'm totally looking forward to the 'Knockin on Heaven's Door' movie that's about to come out in Japan. It's good to know that the toonami version isn't totally screwed up (like they didn't cut out much at ALL, and really only cg-ed stuff out like excessive gore).. but I'm one of those people that really can't tolerate dubs. *rubs her hands together in anticipation of the X tv series* - -miharu ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V6 #459 ***********************************
