Okay, I am SOOOOO pissed off about everyone complaining about the US and how "horrible" it is that the government "forces others to accept our beliefs for themselves". If the US is so bad, why is it that there hasn't been a better from of government, a better country, to come forward and show how "horrible" the US is? If you don't want to fight for your country, fine, that's your choice, but just remember, that choice is one of the countless choices you are allowed to make simply because you live in such a "horrible" country. A country so horrible they don't force you to fight for them, they don't make you go to the church they want yo to (although Bush is trying to change that one). they let you sit in their horrible country and piss and moan about how evil they are. and they don't kill you for it. Go ahead and hate the government, but, until you can find a better one out there, maybe you should realize that not everyone has these opinions, that many people realize every day all the wonderful things they have because of this "horrible" country and government. history is full of governments trying to force others to believe what they do, to think what they want them to think, to fight for their causes blindly, to die if they so much as utter one word against the government. I am passing this on to the list as a favor. For anyone who ever says how horrible this country is, let them remeber everything, not just some things. Sure, i have my moments where I can't stand the state of affairs in this country, but I would uch rather die defending the assholes who don't want to fight for their rights than to sit around with them and watch us get worse because we all have this great right to let our country be destroyed beneath our feet and bitch about how horrible we are because we intervene on behalf of people. Remember, over 80% of the national debt is simply becuase we spent so much time, effort and money rebuilding our enemies' countries after defeating but not conquering them. And feel free to write back and complain about my language and my opinions and how wrong I am because I disagree with you, then remember, that too is another right we have becasue we were "unlucky" enough to be born in this "horrible" country: we can voice our opinions freely. As for the following, it was written right after the US withdrew from Vietnam, much to the disgust and mockery of the rest of the world. So if you hate the us so much, mebbe you should become a communist, I hear they're so much better towards their citizens (can anyoe remember Tieneman Square?) The Americans Broadcast June 5, 1973 CFRB, Toronto, Ontario Topic: "The Americans" The United States dollar took another pounding on German, French and British exchanges this morning, hitting the lowest point ever known in West Germany. It has declined there by 41% since 1971 and this Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least-appreciated people in all the earth. As long as sixty years ago, when I first started to read newspapers, I read of floods on the Yellow River and the Yangtse. Who rushed in with men and money to help? The Americans did. They have helped control floods on the Nile, the Amazon, the Ganges and the Niger. Today, the rich bottom land of the Misssissippi is under water and no foreign land has sent a dollar to help. Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy, were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of those countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States. When the franc was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it. When distant cities are hit by earthquakes, it is the United States that hurries into help... Managua Nicaragua is one of the most recent examples. So far this spring, 59 American communities have been flattened by tornadoes. Nobody has helped. The Marshall Plan .. the Truman Policy .. all pumped billions upon billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now, newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent war-mongering Americans. I'd like to see one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplanes. Come on... let's hear it! Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tristar or the Douglas 107? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all international lines except Russia fly American planes? Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or women on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy and you find men on the moon, not once, but several times ... and safely home again. You talk about scandals and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everyone to look at. Even the draft dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, most of them ... unless they are breaking Canadian laws .. are getting American dollars from Ma and Pa at home to spend here. When the Americans get out of this bind ... as they will... who could blame them if they said 'the hell with the rest of the world'. Let someone else buy the Israel bonds, Let someone else build or repair foreign dams or design foreign buildings that won't shake apart in earthquakes. When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke. I can name to you 5,000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake. Our neighbours have faced it alone and I am one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of these. But there are many smug, self-righteous Canadians. And finally, the American Red Cross was told at its 48th Annual meeting in New Orleans this morning that it was broke. This year's disasters .. with the year less than half-overb& has taken it all and nobody...but nobody... has helped. ORIGINAL SCRIPT COURTESY STANDARD BROADCASTING CORPORATION LTD. See how much she's working for P(*)E (mails, web-page and so) within the few minutes when she's not working... "I consistently worked 12-16 hour shifts without complaint, ... So, after 4 months of sleeping less than 2 hours a night so that I could work the other 22 hours of the day" Could a manager consider this ??? Is there any manager, any son-of-a-manager on this list, who could help her ??? "Sorry to burden all of you with my crap" she says... Well, you're sincerely welcome, Miki... Alright, I suppose I should introduce myself now. :) Been a little busy to read through these loooong digests :) Anyways, I'm Kate from Chicago. I noticed Chicago related posts so I thought I'd jump in. So hey! I could bug WTMX too, no prob. I already do it with another band. I'll be annoying. I can do that :) I'll call right into the studio. Fun fun. And Poe was at a Live at Five at the House of Blues??? Arg. Missed it. I think the most recent one was Verve Pipe. Or maybe I haven't been listening often enough. But I did listen long enough to hear Wild a while ago and actually record it. I could also try Q101. But yea right. Ya never know. I could make them get it and play it. As for Haunted, I just LOVe this CD. Listen to it aLL the time. It's really really great. Would love to see her live someday. Oh yea, I'm currently 16, but will be 17 on Thursday. Tanya is going to playing it during her shift again tonight. Unfortunately, I can't be more specific on the time. I'm not sure where brendles gets her information from on exact times. Plus, I'm stuck in Pennsylvania for work and my internet time is VERY limited. But, even with this limited time, I was able to get some airplay... that means everyone else can, too. I hate Chevy's because the one and only time I went there (in Vegas) I got cold food, bad service and heart burn to boot. Lots of love to you, and I wish you the best.
