What ideas have you all come up with for inexpensive forms of entertainment? Going out to a restaurant once a week can be a great value, considering I go to one of two places, the first is the "Old Style Country Buffet" where for $8.99 its all you can eat, they are a franchise, here is a review, if you don't have one find one that offers a similar menu. There is no way we could afford to eat t is way at home at that price, most times we bring anywhere from 2 - 4 kids with us, or groups of friends, and they have meeting rooms. http://birchmire.com/OldCountryBuffet.html or for the same price "China Buffet" http://www.thebestinrochester.com/fullpages/4611.asp?m=4611&p=3 I am now starving from looking at those two sites. I might add, that these are all things that I do with my long time sometimes girlfriend, the one you can thank for introducing me to the AP list, "catzeye" aka Tammy. Any whoo, we don't always see eYe to eYe, that's why she lives over there, and I live over here, but these are some of the things will still like to do together, even after almost 10 years of "dating" LOL. We go to the "Dollar Theater" that now costs more than $ 2.00 but here are the 10 movies currently showing, we usually go when its so hot out that the $2 bux is worth the air-conditioning. http://foxrochester.thebigguide.com/default.htm?/movies/theatre.asp I am a regular at scoring tickets to shows, pretty much if there is a show I want to go to, I can manage to win the tickets, in part due to the fact that it is an educational station with less listeners, but also by calling late at nite, or early in the morning, while the rest of the world sleeps. Even though I do not drink, I'm a regular at the " Bug Jar" http://Bugjar.com every Friday, where I put away four free soft shell tacos, while I sip a few sodas. The place feeds about 100 starving artists this way every Friday, it is my favorite scheduled activity of the week, and in the winter,. it might be the only place I go in a week. We live in a small city, that is filled with and surrounded by parkland, and is fronted on the north with a beach and Lake Ontario. We go deep into these areas to our favorite spots, and hangout, picnic style. We fly kites, ride bikes, take in free outdoors music events, fireworks, arts and crafts shows. Get a hobby that takes you outside, take a walk in some historic or beautiful area around you that you have been planning on doing "one of these days" Hell just get a favorite place to take a walk, mine is a 3/4 mile 4 foot wide piece of smooth asphalt that in an odd shape, circles the water reservoir that serves our city. It is the highest point in the city, and located in the center of a sprawling park, less than 1/2 mile from downtown. In this 1915 postcard (no not mine) it looks the same as it does today you can see the wrought iron fence that circles the reservoir, today musicians like to hang at the "gate house" and play bongos http://www.vintageviews.org/vv-r/parks/cards/chp003.html I love walking this loop, because I know that every relative of mine has spent time walking that same loop. Anyway I think the point is there are low cost ways to go out, oh yeah, about once or twice a year we will do a tour of the dozen or so adult book stores scattered around Monroe county, always an entertaining nite. sp00k etc ... ========================================================================== ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Sep 2001 09:43:00 -0700 (PDT) From: jennifer jordan Subject: My 1st attempt requesting "WILD"!!! Bell), In reference to your comment: h WTMX... ah, yes. See, I sent them ONE LOUSY h email... and I have gotten FOUR back so far saying h they will be playing Wild. One said she played twice h during her shift. SO... they are EASY. Nice!!! Complicate my life even MORE!!!! Do I give you credit for one email, two plays or 4 replies. Well, baseball has runs, hits and errors, guess I will have to keep more comprehensive stats! Lets see --- 1 mail, 2 plays, 4 replies --- guess that is the equivalent of a Grand Slam! (Just playin with you Jon, that is just what went thru my mind when I read your posts.) One rule I do want to add is that if you already won a single of Wild you can not win a second ( supplies will be VERY, VERY limited I am told.) However I still have some copies of the Hey Pretty single and some other fun promotional stuff I will give if you also win the second or third week and were a previous winner. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Sep 2001 14:43:14 EDT From: EMOKidsSmell@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR AIR In a message dated 9/26/01 3:38:59 PM Pacific Daylight Time, Spidersrcute2@aol.com writes: << The song by Air is Sexy Boy, not sexy body Megan. And so for the past two months or so since our long term dispute over it ended (we have nothing better to do than to argue about song lyrics, sad eh?) AHHHH! Sorry guys, I was wrong! Poe even did a live version of Wild at that appearance that they can play if they don't have the Atlantic promo CD - What Gives? I've e-mailed the DJ who interviewed her and let her know, but I think more people need to write. The radio station website is www.radioalice.com and the DJ who interviewed her is Gretchen (although writing to all the DJ's is probably the best.) Can we add them to our radio blitz? Looking at the WTMX stats, they played Wild 28 times last week. Looking at the stats in their log it says they played Poe 7 times in the last 24 hours....but it says five of those times it played Hey Pretty. The only time it shows playing Wild was at 9:52 PM last night and at 3:44 this morning. Is that consistent with what you are hearing? Are they playing Hey Pretty a lot when we are requesting Wild?? I have a message in asking for strategy suggestions and will make suggestions when I get the advise in. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Sep 2001 13:30:16 -0700 From: Bea Ortega Subject: Buzzhits.com Buzzhits.com is a cool website for finding out what song just played on the radio. Right now it's only in the San Francisco & Los Angeles Markets but if we send any requests to the radio stations they serve, we can double check if the song was played. I think this is a good back up for us. Also - Do we have toll free 800 numbers for these stations in other parts of the country that we're calling in requests? I know it would be easier for me to call if it's not on my dime. :) Thanks guys! - -- ***************************************** Bea Ortega Customer Support Pegasus Products Group (650) 965-2576 or 1(800) 965-2580 www.pegasusmail.com www.myschoolwear.com ***************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Sep 2001 22:02:03 +0000 (GMT) From: Cyberfan Corporation Subject: Re: chicago listeners Phoenix - KZON - played WILD at 12:55p today... Try e-mails or "contact us" as often as possible since they're free. Careful. ang (nice work) Bea Ortega wrote: > Buzzhits.com is a cool website for finding out what song just played > on the radio.
