I just got off the phone with Atlantic. The majority of the stations on the lists that we have seen so far are not playing Wild and some have said they have no intention of playing Wild. To say Atlantic is concerned about things is putting it mildly. I came right out and laid it on the line with him, Walk The Walk, and now Wild have not done very well without our help and Hey Pretty did much better then they expected WITH our help. I asked if they would give us three weeks to prove what we can do! If they see a blip, they will know it is us. He said there are two stations that play Wild that will be the main test. KZON in Phoenix and KTMX in Chicago. Neither broadcast on the Internet ( from what I can find out so far.) Jarrod is in Phoenix and he will be a help there, who do we have in the Chicago area that can help? I told Atlantic our biggest impact will be on stations that simulcast on the Internet and I would send him a list of stations WE are targeting in addition to these two. Please copy me on any responses you get from ANY of the stations you are contacting, but make SURE you include these two. Even if you are already copying Angie, for a while anyway, I am asking you to copy me as well. http://www.wtmx.com/tech/contact.shtml http://www.kzon.com These three simulcast. www.x96.com - The Mix in Salt Lake City www.woxy.com - Oxford (Cincinnati, OH) www.wcptthepoint.com - Schenectady, NY What is GREAT about these stations is that it gets reported EVERY time they play it and what TIME they play it! When Atlantic sees these numbers ( and they do EVERY week!) they will know WE made a difference! The not so good thing about the stations that simulcast is they are smaller stations and do not make as big an impact with the bean counters as a Chicago or Phoenix... So do your thing in those two markets ( they are watching) but we can show verifiable numbers on these three too! Keep working your local stations. You know the music in your areas, if they play Country, if they play hard rock they may not be as interested in Wild as would a station that plays Adult Contemporary or Adult Oriented Rock. For Modern Rock and Alternative stations if all you ever hear is Limp Biscuit and Slipknot type songs they may not be as quick to play Wild as would a station with a softer groove. We have THREE WEEKS to prove ourselves, I want to show Atlantic numbers that will AMAZE them! Atlantic is sending me an additional supply of Wild CDs. Email me everytime you hear ANY station play Wild after you requested it. I will tally up the numbers and confirm them on BDS ( the tracking system) and each week for the next three weeks I will give a copy of Wild to the three people that successfully get Wild played. I will post regular hints that will help, who is playing it and what times as I get the information. Good luck! Atlantic is watching, let's show these guys what we can do! Listen to these stations on the air, when you request a song mention you are listening on the Internet and you heard they are playing a different mix then is on the CD and you want to hear it! After they play it send them an email telling them what you thought of it ( the first time they play it for you, after that thank them for playing it again.) Remember, these guys are not stupid, you play them and they will see thru you! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Sep 2001 17:51:50 -0700 (PDT) From: Onagh Levy Subject: NPR: Military APs "Brian Brantley" Said: This article made more sense than any argument I've heard so far. Pacifism is a liberty given by the blood of American servicemen in wars past and present. You have the right to disagree because some marine, sailor or soldier in some distant place gave his life protecting your liberties. So, voice your opinion!!!!! Scream it loud and clear. BUT NEVER FORGET WHO GAVE YOU THAT RIGHT. It is the servicemen who with bear the load to defend your freedom. We do this willingly. We know the consequences. We don't need your pity. Just don't spit on me when I come home. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ I for one apreciate the load our service men & women bear for us. And I have never in my life spit on any person in the armed forces. But if you give me an Islamic terrorist to spit on, I'll cough up one hell of a sticky gooey phlemy goober for the cowardly bastard. Is anyone organizing some kind of adoption thing for our Military APs? You know like "Adopt a Soldier" kind of program where we can send care packages to them when or if they deploy to the Middle East? I've already signed up to adopt a Pagan Soldier thru the Military Pagan Program, and I would be more than happy to adopt a Military AP. Just because some of us don't believe in a military conflict doesn't mean our Brothers and Sisters in Arms should be neglected. I think some sort of retalitory strike is needed, weather that be economic or strategic, I don't care, but something should be done. Remember, when our troops get there, watch closely. These cowards have been beating up women and old men for the past 5 years. When they are faced with combat against real soldiers, watch how they run in fear. First, let me tell you how much I enjoy listening to your show. I recently moved here from Dallas, and am thrilled to find a station here that plays "alternative" rock AND isn't afraid to play female artists :-) Anyway, Poe is one of my very favorite artists, and last night I heard you play her new song "Wild." This has one of my favorite songs on the Haunted album, but the remix you played is very different, and it is the bomb! I can't believe they could actually improve upon a great song, but I LOVE it! My request is PLEASE play Wild for me tonight...I haven't heard it today, and am dying to hear it again (and again, and again, and again...lol) Keep up the great work! Sincerely, Brenda ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Sep 2001 22:12:28 -0500 From: "brendles" Subject: Re: My experience with requesting "Wild" // CD101 Just a comment based on experience: Emails to DJs are fine if the song has already been added to the station's playlist. If it has not, which appears to be the case here, it's imperative to find out who the Program and/or Music Directors are at the station, and direct your initial requests to the decision-makers themselves. Unfortunately, most jocks don't have the power to play an unlisted single. But, if you hear the song even once, all jocks are fair game! (Check the station's website to find out who the directors are.) I just had super-speedy success with WTMX in Chicago, so it can be done! Sure. Fine with me. It;s one of my favorite songs, and while I personally think of my own brush with domestic violence when I hear the song (being involved with not so sane persons in my past...Trigger Happy Jack was *very* clear for me as well...) - I could see how in the current climate, the POSITIVE messages could be misconstrued or even "misinterpreted". And though I don't know what Poe's own thoughts are regarding war and what the US should do, I don't think she'd like her song used as a pro violence message, and I could definitely see some people going that way. From 'empowerment' to 'having power over [someone else]'. ANd thanks for the compliment. I was recently "promoted" (title only, good experience, no extra $$) to Student Marketing COordinator for The Viking Union Eateries (a unit of University Dining Services, managed by SOdexho Alliance) - and am in the middle of a very large campaign to rejuvenate our 'hangout' spot, Bigfoot's Bistro. It's this area that I'm hoping to eventually book live acts (more than likely acoustic) for. This week so far I;m clocking 56 hours at work - sheesh. Good thing today was the first day of classes!
