OK first lets deal with the POE related aspect of this. I guess if you must view the act of war committed on the U.S. when considering what song should be released next, and it's effect on the public, I'd stick with "Haunted" the nation is wounded, and it will never heal completely, I think "Haunted" will be appreciated by many as they go through their healing process, lets face it, who isn't "Haunted" ? This song gives everybody a chance to examine those feelings, but come through it from a positon of strength. > > No. I think in the current political climate that the song's true meaning > would be misconstrued, and would be extremely poor for Poe's image. Even > if she is pro-war and pro the current "US is all powerful and wonderful > and never doesw anything wrong so we have the right to do as we please to > whomever" propaganda - it's bad marketing strategy in the long term. > Let's be clear about something for all of ETERNITY, don't confuse support for our troops, our brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, neighbors, list members, up and down the U.S. social ladder,... DON'T confuse support for the troops with support for U.S. policy. Yes the U.S. has made mistakes, they are well published, in the open for the world to see, that's part of what makes America beautiful. Whatever you may think of the past, it sure as HELL is hard not to get behind U.S. policy in this case, considering that it was a direct attack on U.S. soil, that has wrecked devastation in it's toll of human lives, and damage to the world economy in numbers that will be difficult to ignore. and the statement "US is all powerful and wonderful > and never doesw anything wrong so we have the right to do as we please to > whomever" I do not view Poe in that manner at all. I listened to the echo, and I am very familiar with the history of nazi Germany, and WW II. I don't think that being opposed to people who are bent on murder as an offensive tool for achieving goals should be looked on with a dim view. sp00k etc ... ============================================================================ === ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Sep 2001 17:32:54 EDT From: JSens70632@aol.com Subject: Re: wild what the hell? i tried to download it twice and i still am not getting the whole song. ?am i the only one? It wasn't until a friend of mine told me that I was obsessed that I realized I truly was. Anyways, not being in the family for a few years, I'm not sure what the state of the APs in Wisconsin is. Is there a group of WiAP (Wisconsin Angry Psychos)? Are there any events planned when Poe is in the area? Are there any events planned just to get together? Is there someone in charge of these things in Wisconsin? That last question is why I write this. I am quite interested in being the director, liason, organizer of the WiAPs. Is there someone already? If there is, I'm more than willing to help. If there isn't someone, I think I'm going to claim the spot. So, WiAPs. Please let me know the status. If you are the director, let me know you are and let me know how I can help. Also, let me know if you are interested in something like this if there isn't already a group of WiAPs. I'm going to hang this in limbo until October 5th. If no one claims to be part of a Wisconsin AP group by then, I'm going to officially start up the WiAPs and be acting director. Please send me an e-mail at jrswantz@poe.org if you are a Wisconsin director, or if you want to help, or if you just are interested in being notified of WiAP events. For YEARS America has done nothing but be a crutch for other countries to fall back on whenever they needed help for ANYTHING-- be it disaster relief, economical help, starvation, fires, war, whatever-- the U.S. has been there, and what do we get? Nothing but slapped in the face (i.e. bombings of the Embassies in Africa, the first bombing of the WTC, etc)--so what does America do?? We turn the other cheek because that would be the "right" thing to do, and what happens then? They slap us again and again and again and once more, we have been walked all over and ridiculed and hated because of our capitalistic, free society... So to all those that say we need to think about using non-violence to "fight terrorism" and there will be innocent lives lost in Afghanistan if we bomb them, well boo-fucking-hoo.. Maybe the Taliban should have thought about these possible outcomes for their country before they finaced and allowed BinLaden to hide out there.. America has not reduced terror so far by being pacifistic, and I'm sorry, but there comes a time where you have to defend yourself, and especially the freedom that this country was founded on. Bush is not trying to be a big bully and level out a country, but for God's sake people thousands of our own were just innocently murdered for living in a free country--what sounds wrong with that sentence... If we show these terrorists and future terrorists that we're not fucking around anymore, and we're sick and tired of being every other country's scapegoat as to why they have such problems, and maybe if these terrorists see their own innocent people die then THEY will find more NON-violent ways to express their beliefs. Remember--it is these people that have been fighting for hundreds of years and instigating such events that could possibly occurr soon, NOT Americans.
