The last mail we traded on this list on this subject, was a week after you said you would look into it. At that time I said they still did not have a copy, and you said you would personally send one if I sent the stations postal address. I didn't send you the address, because I didn't want there to be any illusions that they got their copy of the CD through normal channels. I never faulted you for the station not getting a copy of the CD, but I was left wondering about the intentions of Poe's management, in light of the negative relations that already exist between Poe's management and WBER staff. My initial inquiry to Angie acknowledges the fact that WBER did finally get a copy of "Wild", but that IMHO due to the continuing poor relations between WBER and POE's management, there was a good possibility that it may never get played. To this day, each time WBER has an in studio appearance by an artist, they make either direct or indirect references to POE by name, in relation to the fact that MOST musicians remember who helped them when nobody else would, and how POE forgot. So here I am calling them up telling them all about the new "Wild" CD for August 6th and when it did not show up, yeah, they felt slighted once again. I can say, that PRIOR to the August 6th date, Joey G assured me that as soon as they had it, they would play it. Now, the last mail I got from him, they were undecided on whether or not to allow it to be played as a test song. I figured I would try Angie since I never heard anything back from you one way or the other that indicated Poe's management had anything to say in regards to WBER. > > What would you like Poe and/or her management to do for this station?? Just > for a minute, try to be constructive..what would YOU like to see Poe or her > people do for these guys? > These guys by the way, are not all college kids pretending to be DJ's , many of them are employed full time at the various radio stations around the Rochester area, or are club DJ's, pretty much, the DJ's all have professional occupations outside of the VOLUNTEER work they do for the station, which by the way has been playing "alternative" since 1985. In a one year span, from 1996 through 1997, POE made four appearances in Rochester, the first three as a WBER artist. On the fourth trip, which by all accounts was to also be a WBER show, she supposedly got signed to an "exclusive" contract to rival station WNVE. This contract with WNVE, supposedly made it illegal for POE to even call WBER on the phone. WBER stopped playing her completely. It took me months of phone calls, and finally I had to show up in the station with a new copy of the "Hello" CD to get POE back on the air. Half the staff feels she should have never been allowed back on the WBER airwaves, that she should take her act to WNVE. NOW the sentiment is, that she will do a show for the new local rival "WZNE" the late arrival of the "Wild" CD just reinforced that sentiment. What do I want for these guys? IF Poe comes to Rochester they want it to be a WBER show. I will quote current top dog at WBER, station manager Joey G said "They (Poe) owe us big time" I have to believe that the only reason POE still gets played at WBER is that Joey G is a genuine POE fan. However, he is also the station manager of the most influential "alternative" music station in the Rochester area, and wants to be acknowledged as such. The flip side of this? I firmly believe that if we are fortunate enough to get POE back to Rochester, and she does a show under the banner of some other radio station, that she will no longer get air time on WBER, and that she will have her name mentioned numerous times a day, per year, for the next few years, in a negative manner. This isn't some kind of back burner issue at WBER, they take this VERY seriously. So this is not about me as much as some would make it out to be, but MUCH more about POE, and how she will be perceived in the Rochester area, and the world market WBER reaches via the internet over the next few years. sp00k etc ... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Sep 2001 02:52:13 EDT From: PuppyDawg3@aol.com Subject: Re: angry-psychos-digest V6 #378 poe isnt a rock star or a pop star. And no more britney please. gracias p(*)e [IMAGE]-MmD- "Drop everything This must be the end of the world This might be heaven or hell Or it may just be another world" -P(*)e- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Sep 2001 17:03:30 EDT From: EMOKidsSmell@aol.com Subject: NPR: Public Office Okay guys, I've almost decided, I just want to get some other opinions so I'm going to run this by you. Why are you mad at her for saying she's a moderator? What does yahoo groops have to do with this? What is up with this seperation of church and state? That has nothing to do with anything!! Besides, It doesn't even say that IN the constatution (sp.). It WAS, in fact, a SUGGESTION in a LETTER from Jefferson to Franklin, If you all know your history. If you want can find it in there, I'd sure love to know where! And Furthermore, you are hipocritic! You yell at her for a title, and yet, you put your own, if even only an "unmoderator", whatever that is. Are you just jealous? She is introducing some of the bands and doing color commentary at the Gravity Games in Providence, RI this week but not performing. On the 14th will be in Kansas City and the 15th in NC. There is an event the first week of October in LA. Anything else is rumor at this point, though there is a contract being negotiated for a college tour with club dates being built around it. Nothing that can be released yet though. As soon as we can give ANY details you will see it on the AP list. ========Original Message======== Subj: concert info Date: 9/4/2001 12:43:04 PM Pacific Daylight Time From: Elizabeth.Beene@IntegratedAccess.com (Elizabeth Beene) Sender: owner-angry-psychos@smoe.org To: angry-psychos@smoe.org (POE (E-mail)) Anyone know of any concert info for Poe in the NYC area? ~@ Elizabeth Beene@~ Integrated Access Systems (973) 334-0800 - ----------------------- Headers -------------------------------- Return-Path: Received: from rly-yg04.mx.aol.com (rly-yg04.mail.aol.com [172.18.147.4]) by air-yg02.mail.aol.com (v80.17) with ESMTP id MAILINYG24-0904154304; Tue, 04 Sep 2001 15:43:04 -0400 Received: from smoe.org (jane.smoe.org [66.89.201.78]) by rly-yg04.mx.aol.com (v80.17) with ESMTP id MAILRELAYINYG410-0904154253; Tue, 04 Sep 2001 15:42:53 -0400 Received: from smoe.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by smoe.org (8.12.0.Beta16/8.12.0.Beta16) with ESMTP id f84JgTv3006399; Tue, 4 Sep 2001 15:42:34 -0400 (EDT) Received: from localhost (daemon@localhost) by smoe.org (8.12.0.Beta16/8.12.0.Beta16/submit) with SMTP id f84JgORZ006386; Tue, 4 Sep 2001 15:42:25 -0400 (EDT) Received: by smoe.org (bulk_mailer v1.10); Tue, 4 Sep 2001 15:42:21 -0400 Received: from smoe.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by smoe.org (8.12.0.Beta16/8.12.0.Beta16) with ESMTP id f84JgIv1006356 for ; Tue, 4 Sep 2001 15:42:19 -0400 (EDT) Received: (from majordom@localhost) by smoe.org (8.12.0.Beta16/8.12.0.Beta16/submit) id f84JgHW9006354 for angry-psychos-outgoing; Tue, 4 Sep 2001 15:42:17 -0400 (EDT) Received: from injmail01.integratedaccess.com ([63.144.159.130]) by smoe.org (8.12.0.Beta16/8.12.0.Beta16) with ESMTP id f84JgBv1006339 for ; Tue, 4 Sep 2001 15:42:11 -0400 (EDT) Received: by INJMAIL01 with Internet Mail Service (5.5.2650.21) id ; Tue, 4 Sep 2001 15:44:25 -0400 Message-ID: <0304D568F38FD21181FD0090270B8414010F52B3@INJMAIL01> From: Elizabeth Beene To: "POE (E-mail)" Subject: concert info Date: Tue, 4 Sep 2001 15:44:22 -0400 MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer: Internet Mail Service (5.5.2650.21) Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: from multipart/alternative by demime 0.97c X-Converted-To-Plain-Text: Alternative section used was text/plain Sender: owner-angry-psychos@smoe.org X-To-Unsubscribe: Send mail to "angry-psychos-request@smoe.org" X-To-Unsubscribe: with "unsubscribe" as the body.
