It was recorded a couple of years ago, but unfortunately, I still haven't found a version of a decent quality on which you can recognize Gwen. It seems that Gwen was mixed to a really far away background. I remeber that someone said it had something to do with copyright thingies, but I am not sure. Hi, I found the info I was looking for. It was posted on the 26th of June by Dean Morrison (from PolishChick.com. I wonder how he's doing at the moment, but that's another story): ====== repost ====== Poe once said.... http://www.p-o-e.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000278.html Just to let you know, I originally had more of Gwen in the song and she sounded great. Unfortunately, using a whole lot of her became a legal problem that neither I nor little Levar had time or funds to deal with. That's why you can't hear her very well. Incidentally, she sounded awsome and she was a blast to hang with. Honestly that whole thing was one of the best experiences I've ever had. We borrowed the offices of an advertising firm and recorded the choir in their entry way. 30 kids from a local high school all donated their time and arrived on a school bus. Little Levar showed up with a HUGE bouquet of long stemmed red roses that were almost taller than him. He gave a rose to every member of this choir, and when they began singing they all had these roses in their hands. They looked and sounded like angels. It was exquisite. One of these days, I'll tell you how I found that choir. But it's a long story....started with a car crash and two little old ladies who were on their way to church in south central..... ======================== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2001 09:40:03 EDT From: WingedLilyDT@cs.com Subject: Re: NJ AP In a message dated 8/22/01 1:31:54 AM Eastern Daylight Time, owner-angry-psychos-digest@smoe.org writes: << me to me too, i am a jersey/philly ap, and saw her at tower, and fu center >> me too me too! i was at the Tower Records signing as well (thanks to a friend that stayed late at work for me) and went to the FUcenter concert. now that the Depeche Mode tour is over, how long do we suppose it will take for her solo tour? at the Tower thing, a guy with her (a tour manager or something? nice guy, younger, brown hair?) said maybe by October. can't wait!!! denise ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Aug 2001 10:35:15 -0400 From: Ed Hunsinger Subject: RE: poe/gwen stefani collaboration? I'm from Los Angeles, California. I'm 25. I do computer special effects for movies. I first heard Poe from a friend of mine right around when angry johnny started being played on our local radio station (KROQ), then i heard trigger happy jack and loved it. After seeing her perform at a small venue in hollywood (either the whiskey or the roxy) with the eels, I've been hooked. It was a great show. I saw her with Depeche Mode here in L.A. I, unfortunatley, had fairly bad seats. I wish I could see her at a small venue again! I mostly like industrial music. I finally have daily access to the internet at work so i've joined this list. Well, I'm a reasonably new member to the list and I figured now was as good of a time as any for an introduction. My name is Melissa, but I often go by the handle Dangerous. I'm from Troy Michigan (metro Detroit area) and am 25 years old. I first heard Poe when Angry Johnny came out, but really got into her music during the last tour. Yes, I'm a huge dM fan, so I guess that answers the question of other music I listen to. I went to 15 shows on this last tour (I told you I was a huge dM fan!). I went to Toronto, St. Paul, Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, both NYC shows, Philli, San Antonio, Dallas, both LA shows, and both Anaheim shows. I got info on this list when I was at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show, so I went right home and signed up. I've been lurking on this list since then, but when I went to LA, I met so many wonderful Poe fans, I figured the time to lurk was over! Now, for the bootleg portion of this post. A friend of mine was kind enough to tape Poe for both of the LA shows, and the last Anaheim show. I'm going to be getting cds of those performances, and I would LOVE to trade for some other Poe live cds / videos. I heard the MTV shot Rock Hall show was floating around on video, and I would love to get my hands on it since I was there, and I'm sure MTV will just mess up whatever they show on TV. I'll also make copies for blanks and postage for anybody who wants it, but since I'm going to be busy obtaining dM boots for the remainder of the tour, it might be a while before I can get the time to do that. So to wrap up this post, if anybody wants to trade for the cds, let me know. And to everybody I met while on the road, thanks for being so warm and inviting. It really made my husband and I feel like we belonged in this group! See You! I was wondering if Poe will be keeping any of her old sound for the upcoming US tour. I love the sound of the new album, let that not go unsaid. I'd just like to see the cello back on stage. The timbre that instrument added to her sound was one of the things that really drew me to Poe in the first place. Dolphin is still one of my all-time favorite songs. When I saw the cello player false bridge for the intro live I just about died it was so awesome. If "Dolphin" wasn't enough, what the cello does for "that day" is positively mesmerizing. Ok enough of the rant... Anyone with me on this? Anyone know the what to expect on the upcoming tour!!?? -Alex *switching to decaf.... I wonder "How Long" it will be before those tracks are released to the public?
