How about bringing your skills to #poe on irc.dal.net / Http://Poe.Org and joining the rest of us? I also see you are a big fan of Poe's first album, I think you will find that many who appreciate the cyber aspect of the Poe experience, who appreciate the fact that with no internet, we would not know Poe as we know her today, and in particular, fans of the "internet anthem" "Hello" are regulars on #poe. Yes I know some will say that without the internet we would not know many of the bands we hear today. However, Poe was, and remains cutting edge. While most of the world was calling the internet a fad, Poe struck a note with many of us who were "out there" in many ways. sp00k etc ... Ah, we all need to decide on where to meet. The Carousel is pretty prominent and is right inside the park. Remember all tickets are like 45.00 so come prepared!!! Another thing, did anyone besides me get ahold of the Sarah McLachlan remix album? It is really good!! Has DJ Tiesto and BT and a few others remixing songs like Angel and I love you. LOL (1) Who you are?, I'm Ona, also known in various places as BeachWitch. (2) Where you're from?, I live in sunny Manhattan Beach, CA (3) How old you are?, After reading some of the posts I'm afraid to admit that I'm most likely one of the oldest members of this list. I'm 34. (4) Where you first heard Poe?, I had just transferred from a Project Manager's position to a Programming position. I had been doing HTML as a hobbie and some programming in an unofficial capacity at my job. I was pulling into the parking lot on a Friday morning, when KROQ, the local alternative station, did a block of Poe. I had no idea who she was. They played "Hello", "Angry Johnnie", & "Trigger Happy Jack"..... and I was hooked! (5) What other musicians do you listen to? Poe & Tori top my favorites list. Followed closely by: Sheryl Crow Stevie Nicks Sarah Jewel Natalie Imbruglia Garbage Hole Ani DiFranco Janet Robin Johnatha Brooke Kathrin Shorr Mellissa Ethridge Tracy Bonham Dido Nine Inch Nails Depeche Mode Dave Matthews Matchbox20 The Go-Go's U2 Sting/Police OK enough, the list is endless, so that's a pretty good sampling. I know I've missed some important bands I listen to regularly... but another time. and (6) Any other interesting information you wish to share. My first POE concert was 8/15 at Staples Center. i was truly impressed how her studio sound translated to a live show, especially a venue as huge as Staples Center. I have been to every Tori concert in LA since 1996. I've sold my soul in some cases to get tix in the first 3 rows. I adore Tori. So that's me in 6 questions or less. Look forward to the info on the list! Hey guys, Please welcome Conrad who is going to try his best to manage the SWAP chapter with limited free time. He stepped forward on the basis of "if no one else volunteered." Thank you Conrad! After communicating with you all, I developed a more permanant chapter map (see attachment) so newbies know where to go. Can you please make sure the map is posted at your chapter's site. If by Monday or Tuesday we have everyone's sites moving I would like to go for a full membership drive (tell me aby time when I get out of control). But I would like for the e-mails to come not just from me (hint, hint). There are currently 944 psychos according to the main page- there are probably less because of resign ups. I would like to set a goal of 40% of that belonging to our chapters by the end of the year. The collective number is 377 people between the eight regions. There are already 44 in WCAP, 8 NEAP, 4 MAAP, and probably 300 in the unreported regions, right Rusty and Tony! ; ) One way to do this is to convince people there really are advantages to belonging regionally. I was thinking of soliciting via the main web page for people to submit artwork to their regional photo postings for vote to become the region's logo. I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas along those lines. I saw WCAP has a song, bird, even a drink representing them I would like to also post polls at NEAP to vote on the same things but before putting it out for a vote I will need more than my current 8 members (not bad for 2.5 days). Also, as the regional leaders I would like for us to be the most tight knit group there is. I mean we don't have to talk everday or anything like that but when you communicate to someone from the list below, cc the other members (of course unless it's personal). My problem with communicating is that I am out of touch on the weekends (which I hope to remedy soon by fixing my broken-ass puter) so I won't be able to talk to yous again until Monday (and Tuesday is the only day my boss is in- so I'm low profile that day). I don't have an answer for this one. I haven't seen a post from Robby in ages, and even when I did, they were few and far between. I would hope, however, that Amy didn't just name herself leader of the NEAP region without checking out a few things first. > People been rehashing these regions with TLA's and > Icons for the last > 9 months. First of all, that's sort of like the "NPR" system...when people forget to use it, other people will whine about the lack of direct Poe content in their e-mails from the list. Personally, I couldn't care less (I have a delete key and know how to use it), but some people wish to have nothing to do with the whole regional AP thing whatsoever. Separate lists should help each region get more organized without cluttering the main AP list with things like, "What do you guys think NEAP's regional flower should be? What brand of beer should we promote?" etc. etc. AND, what > happens when someone from one region needs info from > another, part of > making things work smoother > is sharing information, not compartmentalizing it. > AND, what about show > reports etc.. I don't think details like these have been worked out yet. I suggested the idea that the leaders of each regional group send a weekly/semi-weekly/monthly/whenever e-mail to the main AP list to update _everyone_ on what's been going on on the regional side of things. However that idea has not been discussed thoroughly, if at all, yet. All the regional AP leaders should by now have the names and e-mail addresses of all the other regional AP leaders so that we can effectively communicate with one another. Show reports, reviews, etc. can obviously be sent to either the main AP list or to both the main and regional lists. I think the main purpose of starting separate regional AP lists is to work out details on shows and transportation, etc. in each of the separate regions. (i.e., less "Hey, can someone give me a ride to ?" e-mails on the main AP list. They get annoying after awhile, especially if you don't live anywhere near the location (or anywhere near where Poe tours, for that matter).) I'm also concerned about the focus on the US right now. I understand we're trying to get things organized for the upcoming solo tour, but sooner or later we are going to have to address international AP concerns. Also, I would like to say, that even though e-mails have been sent out naming leaders of each regional group, we can always use additional help. A few people have already stepped forward - some who have helped organize gatherings in the past, some with connections to Poe herself - and once this regional thing really gets off the ground, I'm sure any and all help would be muchly appreciated, :). Oh yeah, and all you AP's in New York (especially those in more southern parts of the state), Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Washington D.C, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia, feel free to join the Mid-Atlantic Angry Psychos mailing list at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/M-AAP Hopefully we can get enough people there to get some discussion started soon... Still not sure exactly what we're doing, but thinking warm, fuzzy, regional AP thoughts... ===== Shanna Hollich - Shadow123@poe.org AOL IM: RHFoJO shadow123.diaryland.com NO S N B- C~ L- O++ CV Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! My intention for the SoPsycho group is mainly to facilitate a feeling of community amongst those of us who actually live close enough together to meet outside of official Poe events. In addition, I hope to maintain a current mailing list to ensure we can compile list of attendees for Erik in an organized manner, to share information and/or plan and confirm local/regional gatherings without clogging the national AP list with a bunch of email that pertains to a select few. As in the past, I feel that any show reviews, etc., should be DEFINITELY be channeled through angry-psychos@smoe.org. My intent is not to exclude anyone, but to enhance the AP experience for those who live in my region. As the regions get stronger and more organized, I think it will do nothing but benefit APs everywhere. Am I completely out of touch here, or is this what everyone else envisions as well? I'd love to hear from the other regional coordinators regarding your opinions/plans for your groups, and whether you feel this will be detrimental to the national group. Thanks for your thoughts, sp00k.
