The only one we had last tour was PennAP because there were a ton of 'em for some reason, guess they all mooved to Ohio. As Tracie suggested, the *ideal* way for this to work is for there to be an event leader for each city Poe tours in, who reports to the regional leader, who then reports to Dan or whoever else will be attempting to get management's attention for next tour. Without any regional leaders, Dan has to get info from like 20 different people instead of 7. The intent of the separate lists is for planning, banter of local events and people, and less main list clutter ("Is anyone from this city?") to the regions that aren't involved. Canada being part of a group is a bit of an in-joke. Historically, an AP from Vancouver traveled all over the US to see Poe during the Hello tour, and now for this tour Mark from Toronto traveled all over the US to see Poe. So I make the generalization that Canadians tend to sub to all the lists just fine ;) even though neither of them have ever gone to CA for a show, wah. ::P And yes, join any group you want...if you're going to travel you'll need to befriend some PsYcHoS in different places. As far as non-heard music goes, one of the most amazing people I've heard is Jonah, from Jonah's onelinedrawing. He's got a website, it's www.onelinedrawing.com. He does some really amazing music, a lot of it really ethereal and haunting, and usually has really great people playing with him, like Chris from NIN doing some drums work for him. Mostly, I tend to listen to electronica stuff, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Chemical Brothers and other bands like that, along with bands like Portishead and Tori Amos. Probably the strangest thing I have in my collection is my You sleigh Me cd, which is a collection of alternative artists doing Christmas songs. Recap of Thrusday... Hey gang... WOW what an amazing world we live in... *** I just saw POE on Channel 3 - KTVK in Phoenix this AM. She looked good, of course... but she looked a little tired. The promo and touring thing must be getting to her and she needs a break. *** SHELLE.ORG For your videography, I got it taped... She started off with WILD... Did that for a bout 2.5 minutes and then they cut her off and went to commercials... They then had her play a snipet of HEY PRETTY when they returned and she took that to the end of the Channel 3 broadcast (about 30 sec. of Hey Pretty)... Only her and Cody were there... No other band members... It was a good teaser for the show tonight. But I am bummed that they didn't let her play any songs in their entirity. Oh well... *** I have yet to see POE, in my own city, and that bums me a little (then again, I didn't walk into the record store and stand in the meet and greet line)... None the less... Since I don't have direct access to POE... Please accept my public apology to the "POE CAMP" for my unintended flyer problems and undexpected departure from ZIA. This is an apology so future AP flyer sessions don't meet with the same fate as mine... *** *** Though we didn't formally meet... I believe I pissed off Nikki from Atlantic the most. So Nikki - this apology is to you... I'm sorry for the Jarrod Kniff / AP drama... *** To get all APs updated on what happened... I was at the ZIA record store handing out AP flyers to all peeps leaving the store... Each and every person got one and that was great... The problem came when I put flyers on cars in the parking lot. It turns out that I flyered a couple of cars of the bike store next door and they called the manager of ZIA... The manager of ZIA then came out and confronted me... I told him "yes I put fyers on a couple of specific cars in the other lot..." He then damned my efforts and told me I must stop handing out flyers... No problem, I said. I then departed immediately and didn't wait for POE to come out, because of the ensuing anger around the flyer stuff. This is why I apologize to Nikki from Atlantic... Nikki is POE's PR rep and our handing out of flyers steps on her toes a touch, making life harder for her with ZIA... Especially since we want ZIA to promote the album and invite POE back. Actually, I don't know if it steps on Atlantic's toes or Nettwerk's toes... It is irrevelant!!! I left the ZIA early as to not have any confrontation. I missed POE as a result. *** So whoever has Nikki's ear, pass this info on (I already told Patirck from Nettwerk)... Also, this is a clear indication that we need better organization with the POE CAMP. Approving flyers, having a code of conduct, etc. Miscommunication only causes frustration... NOTE: I did call the manager of the ZIA and apologized for my actions. Stating that it was "only my desire to promote POE and the ANGRY PSYCHOS." He then said that "even though you had good intentions, an aggressive approach such as yours could turn out to look very negative." That is something I have to live with - AP flyers getting out was my goal. I am stressed the most about "shit falling on POE..." especially since her name is all over the flyers, she is guilty by association... *** *** All I learned from this experience is to put flyers directly in the hands of people and don't just put them on cars... So be it... If POE is pissed. POE is pissed... I didn't stay at ZIA to see. This is why this email is going out... To do some damage control and hopefully educate some APs on my experience with handing out AP flyers. *** I am sorry to POE and the POE CAMP for the drama with the flyers. I am sorry to myself that I think with my heart and not my head. It is no wonder that men get jadded as they grow old... Damn!!! I should be proud that I am supporting POE and the APs. But today I don't have any AP Pride... heh heh - any psychologists in da' house...??? *** I can't do any more... When I don't know what my limits are. It appears that what I think is best for POE and the APs always turns into a goat-fuck... This is God's will. *** A.D.D. - if you are on the AP list... I would appreciate a call whenever you are in Phoenix... 602-867-0007. I tried for two weeks before your visit to get a meeting... To no avail... If you think I have value, lets get on the same page and start fresh. I have plenty to offer, I simply need some indication that you want my assistance. The impression I got from his statement was that he meant that it's relatively rare for a girl to participate in/front a punk band, which IMHO is totally true. Yes, it's good that you warn your friend or "best friend" about this. But make sure she knows why you are concerned and remember, you warned her. If she makes a mistake that's HER mistake because you did what you could. Threatening to make her choose between your friendship and her guy is just going to make things messier. Let her make her own mistakes and be there for her when she falls, if she does. You can only do so much good, and a lot more harm by making her choose him over you and ending up with nothing. Just think about it. They were sort of the prototype for L7 (throw in a little AC/DC and you get L7). How about the Plasmatics? Wendy O Williams could peel the skin(heads) right off Rancid with her voice. How about L7 since they are already mentioned. They rock! Are the Lunachicks punk? But what about the Slits i ask!!! What about the Slits? I would have to say that they coulda been one of the first hardcore punk all girl band going. And i think they were managed by the same guy who managed the Sex Pistols. Or was that Bow Wow Wow? He's been an actor (and often times a writer, producer, or director) of some of the best bad films ever made. The Evil Dead trilogy is one of my favorite series of films in both the horror and comedy genres. Well, he's written an autobiography entitled "If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B-Movie Actor." I had to make a difficult decision yesterday. Do I see Poe perform live, or do I meet this semi-legend of screen and television at his book signing? Ok, so the decision wasn't really that difficult. But I did make sure that my roomate got my copy of his book autographed. To see what Bruce signed go to the web address below. Just trust me on this one and do it. http://www.geocities.com/highendorphyne/BCAutograph.jpg I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. - -Conrad Zimmerman ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Aug 2001 01:15:15 EDT From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Re: NPR: and the bigotry award goes to: In a message dated 8/10/2001 8:02:15 PM Eastern Daylight Time, CMarnell@flsouthern.edu writes: > But what about the Slits i ask!!!
