Didn't get to talk to Poe when I saw her Friday, but the concert was amazing, even down to her inviting us to take the seats up front and laughing about having to fight security karate-style when she was done. You mentioned that Poe might Shoreline released tickets a couple of days before, so that's when to buy seats if you don't get great ones. Ben got section 103 row U - not so great, but you could certainly rush the stage. It didn't hurt that the front row seats weren't filled yet and you could just sit in them. I had second row thanks to Erik's cable modem from the general sale - the presale tickets weren't so great. Anyway, Ben and I met Poe for the Alice interview on Thursday, so she remembered us when we were up front. During Depeche Mode's set she sent her tour manager, Craig, to fetch me. I then had to do some frantic scouring of the venue for people and calling cell phones so that Craig could get others, but it didn't entirely work. So I suggest sticking together too ;P What bothers me that for this tour it's been impossible for many of us to get backstage, yet in many Depeche Mode forums I read plenty of posts about people getting a backstage pass. For this tour Poe has had no power - if you want to get backstage you have a better chance with bothering DM fans and staff ;P >be touring in October. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get tickets >with better seats up front? This would be in the San Francisco area. I would If Poe tours solo it'll be smaller venues, so actually to get up front you'd just have to show up early. And stick with the APs of course ;) For future reference, I'll repost the instructions on getting good seats in a few days. I will post full details of the day and the Alice experience later, but I wanted to say hey to the handful of PsYcHoS I met (Lee, Bea, Stephanie, and someone at the merch booth, mail me cause I forgot who you are!), and welcome the new ones - I'm the flyer chick. ;) And of course thanks to Dan for getting Erik out here, it really meant a lot to us! - --Michele Open for trades! http://trade.shelle.org/ Got promos, bootlegs, or MP3s of your favorite artist? I know I am talking about someone's past, so this really only holds true to Shiri up to age 17, but unless you were part of her little clique, little respect was paid to you. Multiple times she was quite unkind, to me and people I didnt personally know, in their case, insulting them and the like, and multiple times I had seen peopel attempt to talk to her about her acting or previous performances, often complimenting her, and getting little more than a cold shoulder or a heartless 'thanks'. Shari ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 06 Aug 2001 00:24:44 -0700 From: "Blue DragonWolf" Subject: NPR: my weekend Hey all, well, I just wanted to give you a quick overview of what my weekend has been like. Let's start with Friday, I get up and get all ready to go to my studio so that I can meet up with my co worker and get a ride up to Seattle with him for our studio competiton thing that was completely required and he wasn't there when I got there and so I had to totally bribe my parents into driving me (luckily they finally agreed) and so I got up there and what it was... it's a studio competition meaning it's a dance competition for just our students and everything and I was "deck captain" which is basically the stage manager. I had to make sure that everyone was in place and ready to go out and if someone got stage fright I had to boot them onto the stage, that kind of a thing. And so, I got to run my ass off for 5 hours getting things all set up. Mike (one of the Seattle teachers) was the MC for the evening and so basically it was up to me and him to make sure that things ran smoothly the entire night and luckily we did our jobs well and even if we didn't get any official recognition (a simple "thank you for making it so that this night didn't completely bomb and fall apart" from my boss would've been nice) but all the students were sure to give us credit and we gave each other credit and so it was ok. I got to have some fun and it was good to meet some of the other teachers and students up there. Hmmm, what else? Oh! I was talking to one of the new teacher's up there and oh man the dynamic between the studio's is amazing! Down at my studio, you have 15 hours of a 5 day period to learn about 50 moves during training and after that 5 days we decide if you're hired or not. Up in Seattle, they have 6 weeks to learn the same moves and then they find out if they are hired or not. Plus, I found out that none of the veteran's of the Seattle studio like my boss either. Oh man, it is so funny to hear about all the stuff. *giggles and laughs* I can't really type it out here cuz I'm short on time but it's just toooooooooo good!Anywayz, afterwards me, my gf Tamara and our friend Jenn all went out to coffee and hung out and I stayed the night at Jenn's. Saturday I got up nice and early so that I could get ready to go see Journey. Well, me and my gf went out..... did our shopping and everything and got to the meeting point (since I won the tickets off the radio we got a free ride over there and back) and I got our tickets and we got 7th row tickets!!!!!!! Too bad we didn't get to use them. When I won the tickets they told me I had to be 18 to win the tickets but they didn't bother to tell me that if I want to ride the bus over to the show and back, I had to be 21...... even when I called them to confirm that there were no problems they didn't tell me. Morons. And so, I missed out on getting to be in the 7th row for this show. Pissed me off royally. But Jenn was nice and she didn't have any other plans and so we all just got back together and went and hung out some and then went out dancing...... well, let me rephrase that, I spent 2 hours teaching them how to dance a little and then we went to a Pink Floyd laser show which was soooooooo incredibly cool and trippy at the same time. Oh boy! After the show, I was talking to Jen and Tam and mentioned that I thought it was would be really cool if they got a Rocky Horror Picture Show laser show and one of the workers just got this huge grin on his face and had the "right on" look on his face and so I'm going to start getting a petition together and then send it to the laser dome people to let them know that there would indeed be quite a bit of public intrest to keep it alive for at least a short time. I hope that it works ok.Today was nothing special. We got up, watched a DVD and then went to Tam's house and I taught them to dance a bit more. After which, we picked up Freakazoid and all went out to coffee where I learned that Freakazoid is going to be filming a movie within a year or so and already has some investors lined up and major named people wanting to come on as advisors if not full crew members and he wants me to play one of the leads. I told him to call me when he had the script finalized and then i'd decide for sure but right now i'm definitately intrested. The premise is hard to explain but if it makes it anywhere, it's definately going to be making people do some serious thinking. *smiles* Well, that was my weekend. Got to have a great time even if I missed out on an incredible concert again. Hmmmmmm, I think that's all.je t'aime,LB PS: Saplings people, ignore the NPR in the subject. Just got back from the Santa Barbara show. Had great fun, especially since I was on the lawn (which is the front of the SB Bowl). I don't know much about the other venues out of Southern California, but this is a beautiful outdoor venue (with a 10 o'clock curfew). Poe was great, but like everyone else has complained, the show is way too short. The best part was her coming out into the venue during Haunted because most of the people were there to see DM and didn't expect this. My memory sucks about the setlist. I do have one question for people who have gone to the other shows. Has she played the first verse of that day at all the other shows cuz she did a verse before going into on the of the songs & I really want to feel special. I am a really loud, loud person & I was screaming for That Day and Fingertips. She said we'll get to everything later (which I knew wasn't the exact truth based on her short set list) and then she started That Day. I also got to scream into the microphone and for any of the people who went to her billboard show back on New Year's Eve in 96 may or may not remember me cuz I was the one who screamed into her mike (Terry might remember although I don't think he's around anymore. Well Jarrod might remember too, but I don't know if his memory is that good ;)- ) I also saw Toby there. He didn't say much, but I loved his spiked locks with black tips. It was very interesting. And yes, I too agree Mark is good looking, just not as good looking as my boyfriend. I won't bore you with my raves of Depeche Mode (since I actually bought the tix before I knew Poe was the opening act). Just one comment - love those hips (Dave's)..................Can't wait til San Diego. Unfortunately I didn't get tix for the Los Angeles shows, but I can only afford so much. The nice thing was that i just got the cd itself for 45 cents + S&H, so it didnt cut into my budget. (www.half.com has some awesome prices for used stuff. if you decided to join, let me know first so i can get the referral, ok? i get $5 off. its like a big flea market). i recommend it you like ween and some funk and some punk. So heres my review: its good for hanging out with friends, not good if you are just meditating by yourself, good for driving, not good for making out to, good for those silly times and its one of those cds that are better if you know the lyrics.
