This was my first concert and it just blew me away. Everything was perfect, and POE was astounding. So, the night starts when I meet my only other fellow AP and her friend at a local Italian restaurant. We dine, and get to know each other and take too long eating ice cream...ahem, Marissa ;-)...anyway, we took off for the show. Traffic wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, and we got there with plenty of time to spare. We picked up some souvenirs...mainly t-shirts, and tried to get people to tell POE we were there around the backstage area, but to no avail...so we enter the arena and find our seats. While i'm talking to Vanessa (fellow AP), we hear the faint sound of "ba da pa pa" behind us. We look up and see a small group of POE fans chanting for her to come out. We talk to them and find out that they're APs from Reno, and we're kinda stoked that we're not the only ones at the show. And then she comes on. She looks radiant, and begins her live rendition of Terrified Heart. By the time she says "and starts" the first time, I'm at a decent jog to get to my seat. So i get there and just watch the master at work in her element. She truly is amazing, and so comfortable in concert. I loved her energy and all the music just...wow. That's all i can say. She runs through the crowd, like has happened at all shows apparently, and runs all the way to the lawn! Lucky Vanessa goes to where she's running and gets a hug. My face is still a little green with envy. Then, finally, she gets back onstage and ends her set. The stage is then being prepped for DM and we head to the backstage area once again to see if POE will come out to say hi or anything to the APs. The security guards are very little help, until one says he'll "pass on" the message that we're out there. So we hang out for a bit, but I'm getting anxious because DM is my all-time favorite and I don't want to miss anything. So i say i'm heading back into the arena and sweet as she is, Vanessa offers to get POE to sign something for me. I hand her my t-shirt and head for my seat once again. DM goes through some good songs off the new album, then gets to an old song that i'm not a huge fan of...that's when the little voice in my head says..."go see POE". So i go. Lo and behold, when i get to where i left my fellow APs waiting, I see them gathered together and i begin to get REAL excited. I ask one of the guys what's going on and he says in a goofy, dreamy way, "It's POE." I'm out of my skin and go check it out myself. I can hardly believe my eyes when i see her face to face and really can't say anything. I'm just so thrilled to be able to stand next to her for the 10 minutes or so to watch her sign various memorabilia. She finally gets to my t-shirt and i let her use my back as a flat surface to write on. "Andrew, right?" "yeah"...."hi" she says in her soft friendly tone into my ear. She's SO nice. I can't believe how cool she was...telling her guards/manager people to just hold on while she signs all our stuff and hangs out for pictures. So while this is going on, her brother and the band come out to say hi too. Mark signs some stuff, and it's just indescribable hanging out with all them...even if it is for a short while. It finally looks like she has to go, so I head back to the arena, and take my seat. The friend i'm sitting with (a non-AP) is sitting there, and i'm stumbling over my words, so excited, and talking so fast...i'm still just a little giddy. And this excitement just elevates when DM goes into an awesome awesome awesome set of all my favorite songs of theirs. Being my first concert, I think i got spoiled, just a little. My two favorite artists, and i get to meet one of them. How do i top this? I don't think i can...so i'll just remember it fondly...forever. This was my awesome night of my first concert. I apologize if the wording is off at times, or the grammar is atrocious. I just had to get this out, and get it out tonite. There, i did it, i'm done. - -Andrew PS Thanks to Vanessa and Marissa for their cool cool attitudes and their company at this awesome night. I'm sure you'll get Vanessa's 2 cents soon, if it isn't up before mine is. Also, nice to meet Mickey, Stitch, and the others that were there. To quote Sandra-D....ahem.... I just got home from the concert here in Sac and it rocked! Well POE did anyway. I only saw the last few songs that Depeche Mode did because after POE I went to the backstage area to try to find her. I'll start at the beginning though. First my friend,Marissa, and I met Andrew, a fellow AP, at the Old Spagetti Factory at 5. The show started at 8 and we wanted to get there early, after we ate, we went to the the amphitheater and got there like half and hour early or something like that. Then we walked around and bout our shirts, I got the red tank top and he got the green shirt, then we decided to go to our seats. We were kinda far away from each other and he was closer so we all went to the seats where my friend and I were sitting. Once we got to the seats I kept hearing people yelling and at first I couldnt tell what they were saying but I thought I recognized POE's name. They were yelling that she rocked and stuff so I turned around and looked where it was coming from and I asked them if they were there for POE and they said yes, of course : ) So I asked them if they were Angry Psychos and they said yes but they weren't on the list cuz they didn't have a computer and that thay had driven down from Reno to see her. So then POE came on and I went to my seat and Andrew went to his. She is soo georgous!!! When she was singing Haunted she ran out through the crowd so I ran all the way to the other side of the arena to where she was running and when she was comming back down she stopped at me and gave me a hug. She was only on for 35 mins which sucked because she should have gotten so much more time. But anywayz, after she went off stage Andrew, Marissa and I went to the backstage area to try to find her. The other girls and guy that I had talked to earlier had had the same idea and met us back there. We were staning there beggin the guards to let us in or to go and find her and tell her that we were there but they all said that they don't even get to see the bands. So we sat there for hella dayz asking everyone who went by if they could talk to her and let her know that we were there. Afteer like an hour of talking to people we finally met this guy who worked there who said he could try for us so he went back and we waited outside. Luckily One of the girls we met had a tatoo of the picture of POE _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Aug 2001 08:32:39 +0000 From: "Vanessa Miranda" Subject: POE in Sac continued Sorry my computer cut me off so this is the rest of the night.... OK the girl from Reno had a tatoo of the picture of POE sitting on the chair smoking while the house is burning around her and that is probalby what really got us in. She showed it to so many guards I can't even count. But the guy that told us that he'd go see what he could do came back out and POE came with him! By that time a little bit more peopl.e had shown up to see her. So we all got autographs and talked to her for a while. I asked what has happened to Dean and he said like his wife was flipping out or getting mad or something so that's why he had to go, she signed my shirt for me and Mark came out so I had him sign my shirt to and... he used my pen to sign things for people! We got some pictures with POE and so I'll have those developed and scanned soon. She's so cool and down to earth and nice and pretty and...well the list goes on for hours. Oh and one of the girls from Reno said she asked KWOD, our crappy radio station, about meeting her and they told her that POE wasn't really a people person! Can you believe that!!!??? POE not a people person!? Whatever! She probably the most down to earth artist out there! She's soooooo nice! I couldn;t believe it when she told us what they had said! Well anyway, her bus had to leave so we went back to see the rest of Depeche Mode who were cool too and then we went home. Also, I heard something about her comming back as the headliner in a few months. So I'm hella excited about that. OK well, I'm gonna go to bed now. My friends don't really listen to the same music here, it tends to be more of the backstreet boys/pop thing going and its hard to find people to go out and od stuff with. Like the Area One Festival this weekend. Can't find a soul. though I have two jobs and school I still am broke after paying the outrageous rent in Westwood... I love meeting new people. So if you are in the area, let me know! - -Christina ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Aug 2001 18:56:37 +0000 From: "Margarita Diego" Subject: Re: NPR Re: Depeche Poe highlights lol...that's funny cuz i'm wearing that right now...it's been around since i was in tenth grade...about two and a half years ago...pero it must have been around way before that. :) come here to chile and it's EVERYWHERE! This message really made me upset. As APs we are part of a family and we help each other and should always keep our word and if that doesn't mean anything to you then you shouldn't be here. If you got a shirt and didn't pay for it I think you should do it now or asap. Julie was very generous for doing this and she trusted that she would be paid for her work. She gave us these shirts at a discounted price because she thought it would be a nice thing for us to have shirts that we could recognize each other as APs in and I know that there are a lot more APs that haven't gotten the chance to order them and want them. So if all the people who haven't paid yet would just pay now, even if it doesn't bring the shirts back at least Julie will be paid and not get in trouble at work. ~Vanessa _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V6 #332 ***********************************
