I was not brought up with much religion but at one point was switched to that, and went on and off with my Grandma for a while. Quite all organized religion for a while... then kinda wanted to start going to church again to see if I was actually christian. after some major failings, My mom suggested Uniterians... So we read a little in the encyclopedia. Uniertians started one place seperate from Universalists... and Universalists... were originally called anti-trinitarians. For awhile they two fought back and forth I belive and merged in the early 19 hundreds or something. I can tell you the way a serviec goes. They tend to have a lesson, or and idea that they want to teach each week, relating to the world around us. The whole "alter"(well lack of alter) is set up for that. There is a session for Joy's and Concern's(my fav) Where any one can come up and share a joy or concern, and light a candle. It makes them and actual community which is rare. They sing songs out of a book of song's just for them, praising... life around us. what ever.. rarely much mention of God persay. I would say they teach good lessons about life, and you come away from church feeling good when you go there. They also accept and will marry Gay's. well if you want any more info let me know.... I don't go super regularly... but... No, the problem is that the quiz is complete and utter bullshit. It fails to take into account the fact that American society has become very much like asain societies spiritually. In asia, a person borrows a little from Confucious, a little from Taoism, a little from Buddhism, a little from christianity, and structures a way to live life. Now in America, where we openly accept all forms of worship and even learn about them, we have become the same thing. I for example am a lot of Jewish, some Buddhist, a little bit of Christian and a bunch of confuscianism with a basic tendency toward athiest exstentialism. Today this is possible. Because of this and the diversity of beleif, the stupid quiz says we all must be polythiestic or pagan. It told me I'm Pagan and universal whatever, but I am agnostic with the beleif that if there IS a diety than it is that of the Jewish ideal, all good, all powerful, one and only one, but staying out of our personal lives because of free will. his ! quiz is trash and is not applicable to modern society. We have a completely new spirituality about us that cannot be put into categories. Of course there are exceptions and a lot of people consider themselves fully Christian or whatever, but I'll bet there are a bunch of conflicting beleifs within them. anyways I love religion so sorry for rambling, Joel - ---Original Message---- Ok...so far...practically ALL of the results I've seen on this mailing list have said that there 100% neo-pagan. I still own it, and occasionally he'll remark that he still has no idea what happened to some of the cd's he used to have. I'm really glad he lives 6 hours away and can't look at my collection...though he would probably just say "Who the hell are these people?" if he did look.... First CD purchased: I'm a little fuzzy on this, as it was over 8 years ago, but I believe it was Lorrie Morgan, "War Paint". Lorrie is a country artist, but the cd is actually surprisingly progressive for the genre, with female independence at the forefront. The title track is a woman getting ready to go cheat on her husband. It's really quite good. Last CD purchased: *N Sync, "Celebrity" Before you delete this, hear me out. A) I was a cheerleader/gymnast/dancer for many a year, and thanks to that, I developed not only a healthy love for crappy pop, remixed pop, euro-trash pop, and all around overly sugary and useless. B) I work as DJ for a skating rink, so I'm allowed to buy some really questionable cd and claim business expense. C) *N Sync has all but relinquished any claim to any sort of balladry, as they really should, they are first and foremost a dance music band. D) I don't truly consider them serious musicians (though lord knows they seem to be trying to establish that credit for themselves); the problem with their major demographic is that they consider them to be real musicians...example: I work in a music store, and actually heard 2 thirteen year old girls buying LFO's new cd because "they're hot" but not buying a Tori Amos cd because they didn't "like her hair color". (Tori has always been my favorite artist, so I reprimanded them strongly.) I feel this is the problem, one should buy a cd because you enjoy/use/support the music/musician, as opposed to wanting to have sex with the cover photo. There, I think the tirade is over. First Concert: Randy Travis, Nebraskaland Days, 1989 (?) What can I say, I come from North Platte, NE, home of Nebraskaland Days, which is arguably one of the largest county/western gatherings in the Midwest. Even at age 9, I realized how bad it was, not because of the music (I grew up listening to country, though I've outgrown it mostly now), but because he lacked any sort of expression, didn't appear to be having fun at all. Last Concert: Ani DiFranco, Downtown Theatre (or was it Uptown, I can't remember), Kansas City, MO, Spring 2001 Wow, I've come a long way. The woman puts more energy into a performance than any human I've ever seen. And she absolutely loves what she's doing. It was the most fun show I'd ever been to, even disregarding the cute guy that I was flirting with all night (Damn my friend for reminding me I had a boyfriend!). Wow, that was long, hope you all enjoy while I retreat again.... Ryan "Be of heart and fear nothing. A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive ever! This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee and no vaccine has yet been developed. This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored. This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title "A Virtual Card for You." As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened, the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York, according to news broadcast by CNN. This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself. So don't open any mails with subject: "A Virtual Card for You." As soon as you get the mail, delete it. Please pass this mail to all of your friends. Forward this to everyone in your address book. I would rather receive this 25 times than not at all. Also: Intel announced that a new and very destructive virus was discovered recently. If you receive an email called "An Internet Flower For You," do not open it. Delete it right away! This virus removes all dynamic link libraries (.dll files) from your computer. Your computer will not be able to boot up !!
