I completely forgot about it until now! I remember going online and yelling at a friend something like, "She had POE written on her notebook!"... and then my friend replied something like, "Yeah, I like his poems." ...So yeah, then I had to explain it to her, but still. So I saw Poe last night on the news! Well, not exactly... just, there was this thing on the news and it was on teens and their view on sex and everything. So then they started talking about the internet and how easy it is to access porn, so they start going through this intro thing and show all of these porn intro sites and everything, and then Hello is playing in the background! Ack, I know, but still! Hello was playing when they were showing porn sites! Oh, I got excited because of it. Then Hey Pretty was playing in Abercrombie and Fitch... I glared and growled, because I kind of... yeah, I got mad that A&F, the trendy shop where all the benches shop at, was playing a Goddess' work. - -Dayl/Rei _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2001 03:28:31 -0400 From: Matt Latham Subject: Re: POE at the ROCK HALL! The animation was well done, and Steve Buscemi's character was (while limiting and very, very secondary) entertaining. However, apart from these things this movie is one of the worst things I have seen come to cinema in years. The plot moves slowly and doesn't even have the courtesy to give a little suspense or anything to keep the audience's attention. The voice-over acting is horrendous, but this is not really the fault of the actors. Instead, I'd like to blame whoever was writing the dialogue for these poor souls, as it was predictable and pretentious. There doesn't seem to be any climax to the story whatsoever, it just drones on and on like 2001: A Space Odyssey without the really neat philisophical overtones. But, the worst thing about this film is this: The Japanese cannot seem to produce anything that is primarily intended for an American audience without including the "weapons of mass destruction are bad" theme. Yes, I am fully aware that we nuked them nearly 60 years ago. After seeing this film, I almost want to do it again. Lord knows that they don't dwell on it over there. They no longer complain about the Hiroshima/Nagasaki thing. Now they bitch about us giving them our culture. I say that they deserve it, since they've been living off of our technological innovations for over 30 years. - -Endorphyne ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2001 04:26:18 -0400 From: "ron godwin" Subject: Re: Final Fantasy movie well, the question is are you an avid and dedicated player of the final fantasy series? the story was classic final fantasy style, everything about it. to me, and a few of my friends, it was like playing through one of the games within and hour and 40 minutes, and just soaking up the storyline. it just amazed me how far square has come from the release of final fantasy 1... one thing about it though, the choice of voice acting was horrible. seeing an animated ben aflek clone with alec baldwins voice just didnt work, same with james woods' character, and maybe even ving rhames' also. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2001 02:45:42 -0700 From: "Conrad Zimmerman" Subject: Re: Final Fantasy movie Actually, Yes. I am a fan of the Final Fantasy games. And you are right, the movie moved just as slowly as some of the games did. But, compare the storyline of this film with, say, the 6th, 7th or 9th game. It doesn't even come close. I even liked FF XIII more than this film. Part of the problem with the voice acting was that I kept visualizing these well known actors in the place of their animated counterparts. Ming Na and Donald Sutherland were the only ones that worked. But, they were also the best animated. - -Conrad ron godwin wrote: > > well, the question is are you an avid and dedicated player of the final > fantasy series? the story was classic final fantasy style, everything about > it. to me, and a few of my friends, it was like playing through one of the > games within and hour and 40 minutes, and just soaking up the storyline. it > just amazed me how far square has come from the release of final fantasy > 1... > > one thing about it though, the choice of voice acting was horrible. seeing > an animated ben aflek clone with alec baldwins voice just didnt work, same > with james woods' character, and maybe even ving rhames' also. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2001 09:03:01 -0400 From: andrea Subject: Re: what happened to poe poe? It stars Sessue Hayakawa, Mickey Curtis, Koji Shitara, and Hiroyuki Ota. I know that Poe's father was known for his documentaries, but did he also direct feature films??? Anime fanactic! Please don't take this childishly! Anime is quite different from cartoons (which it is most oftenly mistaken as!). Just picture it as...um...soap opra goes animated? Yeah. With sci-fi as a bonus. :D Plus if anyone wants to contact me via AIM my screen name is xPOE182x ;) That's...about...it..Anything else? Just ask. :) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2001 14:51:23 EDT From: KrodKnid@aol.com Subject: Re: -New- Member... Do you remember the Defense of Marriage Act Clinton signed into law in '96? The federal gov't does not recognize same sex marriage and each state has the right to outlaw same sex marriage, and a state does not have to recognize a same sex union that occurred in a different state. If a straight couple gets married in Rhode Island, Vermont, California, or Florida, the marriage is recognized in every other state. Same sex couples don't get this privelage. Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but Proposition 22 in California made same sex marriage illegal in that state. You and your wife had to get married to share benefits, but gay and lesbian couples can't get married at all. Domestic partnership is the only way to go. This legislation is not something favoring gays and lesbians. Gays and lesbians are already discriminated against by order of the federal government and many state govt's to boot. Giving same sex couples domestic rights is just an attempt even the playing field a bit. ~Megan. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2001 15:40:27 EDT From: Alien153@aol.com Subject: poelist-anyone out there? Hey, I just joined this list 'cause I couldn't find what I was looking for on websites, so I probably won't be staying that long. Anyway: Are there any live mp3s from the current tour with Depeche mode? I went to see DM in Chicago and then just recently bought Haunted 'cause my friend likes Poe, and I'd like to know if there was any live stuff available. the www.polishchick.com site doesn't work on my computer, so I can look there arg. Also, what's her name? I saw the name Annie written in the conversations on Haunted, what are those anyway?...I know at least the guy is her dad. um...I think that's all I wanted to know for now ~Alien153 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jul 2001 15:06:48 -0500 From: Faith Subject: Re: -New- Member...
